Teen Mom Amber May Never Regain Custody Of Her Daughter

Such a sad situation.

Teen Mom's Amber Portwood, who is still in rehab in Malibu btw, may permanently lose custody of her precious daughter, Leah.

Leah's daddy, Gary Shirley's temporary custody will most likely be changed to permanent, according to his lawyer, Jeff Lockwood.

He adds that in order for Amber to regain custody, she would be need to be "able to maintain a clean track record."

It'll be tough though, considering she was investigated by Child Protection Services, jailed on domestic abuse charges, and has been hospitalized for two months now after attempting suicide.

Lockwood did say that he and his team "will aim for her to have a whole lot of visitation," and if Amber does move in with Gary (which Lockwood hinted at), she would be able to serve as her full-time mom.

Our hearts go out to sweet little Leah! She didn't ask for all this dramz and now she has to deal with being moved back and forth and having an unstable mother!

We hope rehab does Amber a world of good…at least for Leah's sake.

…and that's why abortion should forever be legal. Seriously, WTF

  2. 2

Good, this girl is a psycho.

  3. 3

It is obvious that her daughter does not bring her any joy. :(

  4. 4

This is why you don't have kids until you are 30 and old enough to take responsibilty for them.

  5. 5

Re: msloriga – what joy is there in getting knocked up? It's not a fucking doll to play with.

  6. 6

Re: HeatherIsOnFire – like you think these little girls looking for attention would ever get abortions?

It should be mandatory if you get knocked up under the age of 18 your child automatically goes up for adoption to a nice two parent family.

im so freaking tired of these people being treated as celebrities.. they suck theyre scum worthless pieces of crap. i hope she goes away forever, as well as all the other stupid teen moms from that stupid show. havent watched mtv in years because all the garbage they show nowadays. bring back the music!!!!

  8. 8

Good. It's not healthy for that little girl to be raised in a situation like that.

I don't get it? How is she the bad person? Um just two days ago (8/22/11) while at the Britney Spears concert here in INDIANAPOLIS, IN I was waiting in line to go into Conseco Fieldhouse yet you heard all these girls scream and pretty much shit their pants and was like, "OMG!!! IT'S GARY!!!!" First off, who the fuck cares. Second, why is he at a Britney Spears concert? Third, who's watching his kid? Then on top of that, after the concert was over he went to the after party at Bartini's, which is a night club, where DJ PAULY D was DJ ing the event. He didn't leave Bartini's until 2am. So that just questions me on who was watching his child as I know that he did not drive back to ANDERSON, IN because he stayed at one of the local hotels. So this story here saying that Amber is not going to receive custody is ridiculous because Gary doesn't even watch his own kid let alone he goes partying it up 1-2hr away from where he lives.

Here is the thing her precious daughter does not seem to be very precious to her.

Re: arichmann – You are aware that parents are allowed to have free time away from children, right? Last month my nephew stayed with me over night because my brother and his wife wanted to go to a baseball game and then go out to bars afterward. My brother and his wife are fantastic parents who wanted to go out and be grownups for a night. I hate when people act like parents have to be with their kids AT ALL TIMES and should NEVER have a moment away from their kids or else they're shitty parents who should be turned over to CPS.

Re: arichmann – Duh everyone knows Gary leaves the kid with his mom every chance he gets. If anyone should have custody it's her

    Re: HeatherIsOnFire
Yes, Amber is not a fit mother, but to make an abortion comment, when this little girl is obviously ON THE EARTH is beyond rude. Honestly, the little one is probably better off with a decent adoptive family, instead of being thrown into this madness, but she deserves to live, just like you do.

  14. 14

From what I've seen (an edited entertainment show…) neither are fit parents. The state of their house is always a mess and it seems all they do it scream at each other. ugh.

  15. 15

Perez s/times I forget how ignorant your writers are. Right or wrong…usually wrong….the states interest is to reunite the mother and child. It is almost impossible to terrminate parental or custodial rights. The fact that Gary only has temporary custudy of Leah and wants her to move back in as "mother" while he had a "5,000" dollar tab at a strip club recently, means she hasn't even lost custody. And he is using it as leverage. Ur an idiot and this girl will turn out angry and addicted like her mom and her mom and her dad and his mom, they just wont have a show.

  16. 16

Re: yeez – Please don't have fucking kids, loser. Didn't you just read everyone's post, you fucking piece of trash? haven't you watched the show, asshole? Please do not have fucking kids.

  17. 17

Re: yeez – Yeah this kid's mom tried to commit suicide a few times was convicted of domestic abuse. The dad is spending $$$$$ in all nighters in strip clubs while mommy's in rehab. –but-someone was commenting on the fact that your brother and his wife are bad parents for going out

  18. 18

Pathethic..it isn't hard to prevent a pregnancy.. Baby Leah is cute and I feel bad for her..she now has a higher chance when shes a teen to get knocked up, and she is brought up around violence and trash. I hope she doesn't turn out that way but the chances are higher. F this whole show..it makes me sick.

  19. 19

Re: yeez – there's a difference between a normal MARRIED COUPLE leaving a child with a trusted adult before going to a baseball game and bars afterwards and a dysfunctional couple who star in a reality tv show on being trashy and getting pregnant at 16. Don't try and compare the two, you come off as ignorant. This poor child was just born into a bad situation, with useless excuses for parents and no one else to depend on. Everything about this pair is sickening.

  20. 20

I'm sorry…she's rehabbing in Malibu??!!! That's not real rehab.

  21. 21

That is exactly why children should not have children. Being a parent is hard work and you need to be mentally sound and understand your responsibilties.

  22. 22

Surely the fact that Perez (despite his resolution to not bully others) and so many folks feel free to ride the young women who became part of the MTV Teen Mom phenom, has nothing to do with Amber's depression and suicide attempt.

Those quick to sit in judgment choose to ignore that Amber didn't exactly have the famly support that some of the TM's have, PLUS Gary is older, manipulative, and hardly a prize.

Thanks to Amber's own upbringing and the negative attention that's been heaped on her by those, like Perez, who would use her fleeting fame for their own gain, Gary (who doesn't hesitate to use Leah as a tool in his manipulation) comes out the winner, in full control of Amber and her ability to be with Leah.

For Amber's as well as Leah's sake, I hope Amber is getting actual, legitimate help, that she's open to it, and that she'll come out ready to be the parent that Leah needs her to be, without having to be subject to Gary's whining, manipulaive ways.

  23. 23

I posted this long ass message, where the fuck is it?

  24. 24

Re: Kim K's SAGGY Ass – I was born when my parents were 16, they both worked multiple jobs, graduated high school, and had their own place the day my mom got out of the hospital with me. Just because some teen parents are garbage, doesn't mean they all are. Not every child who gets taken away from their parents gets a family, to add to that mess based on age is disgusting.

  25. 25

This woman has been suffering from postpartum depression.

  26. 26

Re: arichmann – People were screaming "OMG IT'S GARY"!?!? What sad, pathetic people. And how did Gary get invited to the after party???
I do agree with you. Leah has two irresponsible parents. Luckily, it seems that Gary's mother is a caring grandmother, so Leah has at least one person that cares about her.

  27. 27

Re: msloriga – A child is responsability first and joy as part of the package, but she is a teen, prolly she is thinking she has lost her youth and cant focus in sharing good moments with her daughter. She will realise too late of her mistake.

  28. 28

Re: yeez – I agree, its not like you go out every single day, there should be a day for parents enjoy a little bit of privacy and intimacy, its also part of having a healthy relationship, children are beautiful bundles of joy but can also be stressful, tiresome and demanding which it could turn against your relationship if you dont know how to handle all the pressure. Having a family memeber who you can count on is wonderful.

  29. 29

Re: starstrukk47 – I dont know about him, I have never watched the show. In my opinion if both parents are just trash, they should give the child to a caring family who will adopt her and put an end to all that coming and going.

  30. 30

honestly.. never is a strong word. I've heard of stories where women who are drug users/alcoholics who lose their children, go to programs and get help who eventually earn back custody of their children. if Amber just behaves and do all that she is required to turn her life around and make changes for the better, I am sure the courts will allow for her to have some type of custodial rights.

  31. 31

she's my least favorite on the show. i wish the best for the baby despite living in her circumstances.
