Kate Winslet Opens Up On The Fire That Almost Killed Her !

| Filed under: Sad SadKate Winslet

Kate Winslet Richard Branson Caribbean Island House Fire

As soon as the lightning bolt struck Richard Branson's dream home in the Caribbean, chaos ensued just the scene of a disaster movie.

That's how Kate Winslet describes it. She says she kept waiting for someone to yell, "CUT!" but it never came.

Fortunately, nobody fell fatal to the huge fire, which completely destroyed Richards mansion.

Still in shock, Kate admits it's an ordeal she will "never forget," adding "it's a miracle no one died."

The movie star continues:

I’m just so glad that everyone is safe. And this very easily could not have been the case. I will never forget Richard placing his arms around both my children as we were watching the flames, and saying, 'At the end of the day, what you realize is that all that matters is the people that you love. Everything else is just stuff. And none of that stuff matters.

Great attitude! It's a horrible, horrible tragedy, and even if they're just things, they're still YOUR things with YOUR memories, but they're right. It's far better to lose objects than lives.

Then at least you get a chance to rebuild, and we have faith that won't be something hard for them to do.

please put it right-she probably felt like she was in a move waiting for someone to yell 'cut' . She is not stupid, she was not standing in the fire waiting for someone to yell cut-if she was, she would be dead-Branson credited her with helping save his family.. the the pet turtle afterward.

It is a blessing that no-one was hurt given the ages of people in the house and time of early morning. Unreal… it is also interesting that Nick Lachey and Vanessa recently got married in this place too… Good thing it didn't happen then too!

yeah, it's just stuff when you have millions. most people don't have millions to rebuild their home and end up living in shelters or with family. while the things in it may be, a home is not just "stuff".

Jackass it is not a horrible tragedy. What happen in Japan or Haiti a few years ago was a horrible tragedy. I feel that a few deaths make something a tragedy. How can a mega mansion being destroyed be a tragedy. Especially when it is owned by someone that can rebuild it if he wants to. The guy owns the fucking island. How tragic.

Mario or writers… please wordsmith the grammar error on the TeddyHilton story about the Navy Seal who died. You are sloppy and usually we are always being unforgiving on errors that aren't a big deal. But when talking about the death of someone in the armed service it deserves to be corrected.

Thanks for your survive Jon. RIP!

Re: April 20th – Agree. It gets on my nerves a bit when rich people talk about money as if it is nothing. Gaga saying the money means nothing to her, Kardashians spending a fortune on a wedding then saying it is really just about love, and Branson loses a home and says it doesn't matter. When a non-rich person looses their home, it is a complete catastrophe - not just stuff. The other day Stevie Nicks said something about how she likes having money so she can do what she wants and have nice things. That is way more realistic and appreciative.

Re: rosebud99 – absolutely! then ppl slammed stevie for being real and honest instead of doing what most celebs do which is piss in our ears and tell us it's raining…….these celebs all just have houses anyway, none of them have an actual "home" as far as I can tell………

easy to say stuff is only stuff WHEN YOU HAVE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS AND MILLIONS WORTH OF STUFF!!! but for the people who only have ONE STUFF, LIKE, ONE HOUSE, that sucks… fortunatelly, no one got hurt in the accident. happy for her AND HER MILLIONS AND MILLIONS AND MILLIONS WORTH IN STUFF!!

I'm not rich, however if my house burned down but my family, pets and friends got out alive I would be grateful. I think that's what Branson means in this case.
