The Show Must Go On! Broadway Staying Open While New York City Shuts Down To Prepare For Hurricane Irene!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooBroadway Babies

Looks like Broadway's going to be putting up one hell of a fight against Hurricane Irene!

As the storm works its way up the eastern seaboard, many events, like the New York International Fringe Festival, have canceled their Saturday and Sunday dates, but according to The Broadway League, all shows scheduled to play this weekend will go on, as well as the Off-Broadway productions!

You'd think if they're shutting the subway down, and telling people to be ready to evacuate, Broadway would have some sense and give their actors the weekend off! We can't imagine anyone trying to go outside in this weather, let alone hit up the theater for a matinee!

See, guys?! This is what happens when you laugh at a Hurricane's name - it shows up bigger and badder than ever, and with one big, 125mph bug up its ass!

East Coasters - stay safe!

We're thinking of you!

Tomorrow is the opening ceremonies of the World Police and Fire Games - held this year in New York. It is one of the biggest sporting events in the world - similar to the Olympics, but the athletes are all police or fire fighters. Irene will probably ruin the games, but on the plus side, New York will have a lot of extra police and fire fighters in the area.

Actually, a lot of shows are open today, and closed for the rest of the weekend. Shows such as Mary Poppins, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, and Catch Me If You Can are all scheduled to close Saturday - Sunday.

"I'm coming for that ass, NY"?!?!?! SERIOUSLY that is what you put on a picture of a hurricane that will most likely be devastating to the city. YOU ARE AN ASS! How dare you say this and make this into a mockery of lives that will be lost! If you did this during Katrina there would be a major outcry about it on the website. SHAME ON YOU!

Everyone is making such a goddamn big deal out of this wowwww im from florida and i can tell you that a category 2 doesn't do more damage than extensive rain and wind, but leave it to people from NY not even NC where it WILL actually make its landfall to turn this into the apocalypse, by the time it even reaches NY itll be a category 1 or even a tropical storm….funny shit
