Uganda's "Kill The Gays" Bill Still Being Fast-Tracked Through Parliament.

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayPolitikSad SadLGBT

Such unbelievable injustice. It's almost too much to even process that in this day and age, this sort of hate still exists.

Despite the Ugandan cabinet and its ruling party's lawyer, Adolf Mwesige, successfully dismissing the "kill the gays" bill as it is deemed unnecessary, given other laws in place that criminalize homosexual acts, it appears that the parliament's David Bahati is STILL trying to keep it moving toward passage!

Apparently, he's insisted that the cabinet stay out of the parliament's business, and that it "is in the parliament now. It’s parliament’s property.”

There are no words. Beyond immoral.

We truly are so disheartened, and ashamed that there has been such little light shed on this pure barbarism.

Our thoughts go out to all those who are suffering because of this injustice.

whats your email Perez? I am sending you a one way ticket for a vacation in Uganda.

Some countries in Africa are barbaric, big surprise. Uganda is right next to Tanzania where they murder albinos and sell body parts for "magic" powers.

  3. 3

    This is way too extreme.

Hope this bill never gets passed,
for all the lives that would be lost because of one man's ignorance and hatred.

  4. 4

I don't agree with this at all, but what do you expect from a country such as this? You can't argue with Stupid!?!?! Sad…very…very sad!

  5. 5

Who the fuck names their kid "Adolf"? Uganda, really? What a piece of shit country, let's bomb it!

  6. 6

As horrible as this is…there's also countries that allow women to be stoned and beaten if they "disrespect their families". Not that it makes this any more right but this country isn't alone and gays are hardly the only ones attacked.

Re: pdrocksmysocks – My thoughts exactly. We have a long way to go here to end discrimination. In other parts of the world, the road is much longer, and we are content to ignore abuses against women as 'cultural' or 'religious'.

  8. 8

I don't believe that anyone should be killed over their sexual preference.. but I must admit that one remixed youtube song about "eatting the poo poo" was funny.

  9. 9

I can guarantee that its already happening! Once the thought was uttered they were doomed :(

Re: ed69 – Think you are funny or are you just so full of hate? Either way, your comment just shows your ignorance…too bad for you….Ignorance is everywhere and just have to keep up the good fight. Equality for all.

  11. 11

If you know that mosquitos are causing a malaria epidemic you exterminate them right?
If you know that gays are causing an aids epidemic you exterminate them right? Makes sense to me.

Re: ed69 – do the same for SanFran!

Mario, I know your gay, everyone knows your gay, so, yes, you bring up gay 'news'. BUT, a topic so serious as this cannot, SHOULD NOT be dealt with on YOUR SITE where you are mostly worried about getting the most 'clicks' and keep your 'stories' under 5 paragraphs. If this is true, this is not a 5 paragraph story, but something you should be talking to your congressman to about placing embargos or taking some politican action against the country. Why aren't you Mario contacting the UN to see what YOU, MARIO, CAN DO AS A GAY MAN IN A FREE COUNTRY????????????????? Talk is cheap.

  14. 14

    We need this in America.

  15. 15

I think it is terrible that African's kill people for being different, or living a lifestyle they don't 'agree' with! People have fought so hard to equality for black people, but yet they are fighting so hard AGAINST equality for others! They talk about equality for them, but I guess they don't care about the gays?! IMO they just want equality for THEMSELVES and not for anyone else! What a bunch of self righteous hypocrites. I know I will be called a rascist but facts are facts.

and again, yes, you post gay stories… but, there are dispicable actions taken against WOMEN ALL OVER THE WORLD… CHRISTIANS….. JEWS….. MUSLIMS…. BUDHISTS… CHILDREN… etc. etc. etc. Hate is based on fear, the unknown, losing control… hate is a bully that will go against anyone that is 'different' , so while you feel it as a gay man, remember, YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE BY FAR. The more ignorant the country, the poorer the country, the more hate feeds…. got to keep those starving uneducated ignorant people in tow.. KNOWLEDGE IS THE ONLY WAY TO RID US OF HATE but unfortunately, hate has been growing stronger in our own country.. Got to blame some one when something goes wrong… a lot easier then admiting that the Great United States has made Mistakes and is not #1. We are falling right into this hate that 3rd world countries have been nurturing for hundreds of years… we are going backwards.

Re: NotSoGay – And do you know for a fact that gay people are causing the aids epidemic?im sure not!get your facts right dickhead!i wish someone told your mum about safe sex then i wont have to read your stupid comment!

  19. 19

In this day and age? What planet do you fucking live on? Social justice cannot exist in a country where people don't have access to the basic necessities needed to live. Who cares about gay Ugandans' rights when people are starving and illiterate. It wasn't until 2011 that NY State allowed gay marriage and how long have y'all had food and running water? Get your head of LA and educate yourself. Not one day goes by that you don't make one post that shows your fucking ignorance.

  20. 20

so y don't u go there and protest??????????

  21. 21

Re: ed69 – its because of people like you that the world is filled with so much hate. I look forward to the day that Karma catches up to you…good riddance.

  22. 22

This is disgusting. I can't believe some people value life as little as these idiots!

  25. 25

Mario, why are u acting surprised that this takes place in these countries? They have never been as accepting as the U.S. and if they ever do, it will take a long time…how about taking some action there if you're so concerned???

  26. 26

Re: B-MoreBabe – you realise you're talking about very different groups of people. you're talking about a group of people who were enslaved in one country and were the minority and they fought for equality. and you're talking about another group of people who look somewhat similar and who were never enslaved but won their indepence from colonial rule in the early 1960s.
to recap: one group fought for equality in a society where they're a minority and the other fought for self determination of their own country.
different continents. different countries. different cultures.

I personally know a Ugandan politician and former parliament member (he was just defeated in reelection in May) I am going to contact him and ask him if he can do ANYTHING to prevent this bill from passing. I lived in Uganda for a month in 2005 as a guest of the member of parliament. He does not know this, but I myself am gay and it was something that I had to be very careful to hide well while i was over there for my own safety. Wish me luck, I hope I can do something to have an impact on this bill.

  29. 29

what fucking monkeys these people are.. Unbelievably inhumane. No wonder they suffer so much

  30. 30

Why is it when a person is passionate about an issue, and they continue to be passionate about it - all the others need to point out "why aren't you passionate about this, or that…". No one can be passionate about EVERYTHING and Perez only has so much time. He has chosen his topic to be passionate about. If you don't like it, don't visit his site. There are injustices being done all around the world. If you have something you want to say about any of them - start your own blog, don't hate on Perez for trying to make a change on something HE is passionate about. Geez! No wonder the world is so fucked up, you all beat up on people if they aren't exactly like you! Open your dusty minds, enjoy other's differences of opinion, debate them with passion, but is the violence and bullying necessary to get your point across? NO!
As for the story itself, it's sad what fear does to those in power. Hopefully this bill will be killed before any of the gays are in Uganda. Sad that governments are wasting so much time and energy focusing on these types of bills when there are so many other issues harming our planet. They do this so everyone will care about these types of issues and the true news will slip by us. Pay attention and be weary.
