Update On Hurricane Irene!

Officials, including NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, are saying the "worst is over" when it comes to the damage of Hurricane Irene.

Over 370,000 people have been evacuated and millions are still without power. So far, there have been 14 reported deaths.

As for city services, such as the mass transit system, Bloomberg says he's unsure if it will reopen Monday morning, however it's likely that limited service will be available for the morning commute. The financial district also plans to reopen.

As for damage, many areas are still flooded, including around the East River, which breached its seawall. Major highways around the city are still shut down due to heavy rainfall and flooding.

We're thankful that the damage wasn't as severe as predicted, but we still know there are many people out there who are still reeling from the damage left by Irene.

Please stay safe and try to stay indoors if all possible. We are praying for everyone on the East Coast!!

I bet they're comforted knowing you're praying for them. All is well in the world now.

Really? Are you actually so arrogant that you don't realize it's been all over the news on EVERY channel for days now (so much so that it's overkill and very annoying)? Or is this post for the dumbest of dumb who only get their news from some tabloid website? Stick to entertainment. We can get the REAL news elsewhere. Your stories are filled with half truths and anonymous contributors and it turns out a lot of times should never have been posted in the first place as there was NO TRUTH TO IT. Get over yourself and do what you do best — make money off the backs of others' lives.

President Downgrade informs us about the downgraded hurricane to a tropical storm.
More hype. More horseshit from these "nannystaters".
The real story is never be caught as incompetent Mayor Ray Nagin.
Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Up until this hurricane "opportunity", the news was about his tone deaf trip to the Vineyard and his wife's extravagant spending.
    -
Now like a surfer riding Irene's 24-7 news wave, he milked it for all it's worth.

People will die next time the wolf cries, "the sky is falling" and they will not leave their homes when the next storm comes through.

Who cares if you are praying for them. No one really gives a shit about your personally feelings. Just stick to the story.

There was a ton of damage in cities, towns, oceanside and places media didn't focus on. Philly, Vermont, N.C. and many more.
