Ricky Gervais Claims To Have Been Asked Back To Host The Emmy's!

| Filed under: TV NewsAwardzRicky Gervais

Well, well, well!

Someone here is not telling the truth!

Although Ricky Gervais raised enough enough eyebrows during his hosting gig at last year's Golden Globes that he was told he would not be invited back, the comedian recently spoke out at the Edinburgh International Festival and claimed they've asked him back - and was even invited to host last year's Academy Awards, as well!!

He reveals:

“I love NBC, I love the fact they stuck by me through it. I don’t think I should do it. What am I going back as? They said to my agent would he like to be on our list. I couldn’t do the Oscars. It’s a thankless task for a comedian. They don’t want to hear jokes, they want to hear if they have won the most important award of their career. I got into this business so I didn’t have to put a suit on and sit behind a desk five times a week. It would be strange to do it.”

Meanwhile, a rep from ABC has countered that he was NEVER approached!

Inneresting, inneresting!

We personally would love to see him back, but it certainly sounds as though he's no longer interested!

Who do U think is telling the truth?

Comedians tend to be better truth tellers than "executives." Just sayin'.

Your underpaid illegals are failing again - check your headline - he did not host the Emmys.

Arrogant troll, i'm glad i broke the hold television can have on people, i don't have to be constantly exposed to turds like this.

I tend to chose to believe Ricky over executives who have a 'reputation' to uphold!

    Do it Ricky!!!!

I've got to love Ricky Gervais. Yes, he may not be what is considered an 'A-lister' but he's hardly a nobody. He's gone a ton of cash after the Audiobook 'Guides to…' and I'd love to see him continue to do shows with Pilkington and Merchant. A class triad.

Most Americans like watered down, vanilla comedy….Letterman, Leno- all that crap….cutting edge and people who say it like it is scares too many people….Love you Ricky and keep up the good work.

I don't know if he was asked to host the Emmys, but they would be crazy not to! Look at all the publicity it generated last year, and people would flock to watch and see what he did this time. So a few outrageously overpaid actors got their noses out of joint. The ratings would be HUGE!
