the crowd looked a little off this year.

  3. 3

He's 100% right, and it isn't about last night's show or any other VMA's. It's about the fact that MTV is no longer a MUSIC television station. It has become a joke of a reality TV station. Sure, there's MTV2, etc. but when the main station does NOT broadcast mainly MUSIC, then they are no longer the arbitrator of what is or what is NOT a good music video!!!!!!!!! MTV has betrayed music and is a joke.

  4. 4

The show did suckass this year. Its my last time watching what a hotmess.

  5. 5

Wrong Adam. MTV doesn't care about music, no matter what day of the year it is. Why on earth would Adam apologize? He obviously meant what he said. The VMAs are a self-loving farce. MTV is craptacular.

  6. 6

no VMAS suck every year. They just keep getting worse and worse

  7. 7

The winners are always the most mainstream… not actually the deserving ones

  8. 8

i completely agree with Adam Levine. MTV cares more about being 16 and pregnant and being a teen mom than they do about the music - which is what started that channel to begin with!

  9. 9

    old news,late again perez!

  10. 10

Why isn't anyone commenting on how MTV responded? They sound like they now have pimple-faced teenagers at the helm.

  11. 11

THE VMAs SUCK IT THIS YEAR :( THE TRIBUTE TO AMY WINEHOUSE WAS TERREBLE, THE TRIBUTE TO BRITNEY WAS A FUCKING JOKE JUTS LIKE THE REST OF THE PERFORMANCES LADY GAY GAY WAS DISGUSTING AND EMBARRESETT HARD TO WATCH SORRY MTV BUT NOT MADONNA IN THE SHOW NOT XTINA , I TURN OFF THE FUCKING TV .

  12. 12

    I so agree with Adam.

  13. 13

I am so sick of this whiney ass jew. Go back to boning Jake Gyllenhaal and let the music people celebrate artists that don't sound like a castrated 12 year old boy. Adam is just mad that MTV is competing against his reality TV gig. It's not like he truly cares about music anyway or he would not release the crap he does. Tough shit!

  14. 14

Yep, Adams right! Its sad that the biggest event of the night was Beyonce's baby announcement. Gaga's opening really could not have been worse. Everyone was hyping up Britney's tribute by Janet Jackson, Madonna, Ke$ha, etc and those three were not even in attendance… all we get are some dancing five year olds… wow what an HONOR for Britney! The entire thing was so boring and stupid!

  15. 15

it was really bad. much respect to Adam for stating the T! Also new respect for Jay-Z; he did not applaud or stand for that woman beating chris brown. and when justin beiber and katy perry win music - music! - awards - something stinks. I felt like i was watching the disney channel graduation show …

While his post wasn't the most eloquent way to tell off MTV, he most definitely has a point. It's been many years since MTV has been "Music TV." They should just rename it CRTV - "Crap Reality TV." Anyone who watches MTV anymore is an idiot.

  17. 17

I'm with Adam on this.. the new categories are super cheesmo… and a lot of the nominees had no business being up there. MTV doesn't care about music.. all they care about is exploiting the jersey shore and teen mothers to turn profit. They don't even show music videos anymore.. unless you go to like MTVJams.. which really arent even jams.. =/

  18. 18

VMA's sucked as usual. I can't believe I didn't watch Drop Dead Diva. Ugh.

  19. 19

    Actually, I agree with him.

  20. 20

He is saying what everyone who knows what the M in the MTV originally stood for. MTV puts on a party for teens and 20 somethings, and the musical *artists*, and movies *stars* they seem to fawn over. They retired from the music and video business years ago. I watch just to watch, but I don't fool myself, it's like watching Fox news and thinking it is like the news Walter Cronkite would lead

  21. 21

    he's right

  22. 22

He's right. He also should have commented on how the VMAs(and MTV Movie Awards) are nothing but a popularity contest about how much sex sells and how edgy and controversial the artist is, and not about how talented.

  23. 23

Totally have to agree with the majority here. Flicked back and forth because most of the show was eye rolling BAD! What was up with the "tribute" to Britney…she was reading off a teleprompter with Gaga and didn't even have a proper speech for accepting her "life time?" achievement award. Bizarre. They need to just cancel the event…I think I could count about 10 big names there. Which shows you how sad mainstream music is now…the same few singers dominate the radio waves so who else could you invite? MTV used to be a great place to showcase, now it is a joke.

  24. 24

smh at him lol gud thing hes hot

  25. 25

    a) MTV's response was just as immature as I'd expect. That's the point, MTV. Maroon 5 may have won an award in 2004. That was 2004. MTV wasn't all that concerned with music in 2004, either, but it was a lot more concerned with music then than it is now. The network has become a joke, and the VMA's have become an even bigger joke. Obviously, they have no self-conscience, either, because instead of quietly putting their collective tail between their legs, they lashed out at Adam as if they are still a full-on music network.

    b) I give Adam a lot of credit for saying what many artists are too timid to say. Just as Christina Aguilera said back in 2004, the VMA's have become so predictable. I think both of them are upset because they grew up loving the fact that MTV was a place where they could go to celebrate their love of music, but now it has changed into something else and their love for it has faded. It's like a break-up or divorce of sorts. They didn't leave MTV. MTV left them. And by the way, you can't give Lady Gaga "Best Female Video" over Katy Perry, then give the same Katy Perry video the "Video of the Year" award 15 minutes later. That makes absolutely no sense. It's like MTV just wants to make sure they cover as many bases as possible so that the maximum number of stars and their pre-teen and teenage fans can be pleased.

  26. 26

That was a very sassy response from MTV, but it still doesn't change the fact that Adam's right.

  27. 27

I totally agree with Adam! And I thank him for having the balls to say it. MTV sold out a long time ago.

  28. 28

i said the same thing. that and lady gaga looks better as a guy. but who are we to judge?

  29. 29

He's right. MTV should take the "M" out of the title because they are too busy with fucking reality shows or other shit that anyone with half a brain wouldn't want to watch. Would be nice to have a REAL music channel that gives us videos, artists, music news, etc. I stopped watching MTV years ago and only occassionally watch the VMAs when an artist I like is performing. Otherwise, MTV is a waste of time.

I might just be getting old, but there is a real lack of talent and the attempt at being an epic show is always just lame. Incredible acts like Nirvana, Guns n Roses are LONG ago and all MTV ever does is talk about those moments, because its shit now.

  31. 31

The MTV VMAs show sucked! I was majorly disappointed. Such a big hype up. Such a waste of time.

    Love Adam! What.a.hottie! And talented!YUM

So Levine's answer is "F.U.?" Has he actually spoken to anyone at MTV to find out how much they might need reality t.v. to meet their bottom line? Does he have great financial insight to lend so they can make a decent profit showing his and others videos exclusively?
Has he run his own music channel to back up his purported cred?

  33. 33

By the way adam is right.

  34. 34

He's so right and it's refreshing to hear artists say the same thing that everyone has been saying for a long, long time. You know well enough that he's not going to apologize. If you weren't so stuck up MTV's ass, maybe you wouldn't be so afraid to admit that Adam is right.

  35. 35

I completely agree with Adam. At least he's one of the artists who will tell the truth about MTV who purposely removed "music videos" from their trademark symbol on their shows anymore. They show music videos in the AM on weekdays when most cannot/do not tune into. Woohoo how nice of them. They should simply have Reality TV/sitcom awards.

Re: ElleFromVan – The best part was Gaga's speech and claiming that Britney was an inspiration to her. I'd think that's a speech for Madonna, not Britney! Especially coming from Lady GaGa.
