Rick Santorum's Ignorant Anti-Gay Marriage Stance Shut Down By Fierce College Girl!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayPolitikInspiration

Oh man! THREE CHEERS for this fierce college girl for standing up for what's RIGHT!

At a recent visit to Penn State, Rick Santorum apparently decided to defend himself against Piers Morgan's accusations that he's a bigot by essentially saying things about gay marriage that anyone with a brain in their head would define as bigotry - i.e., the usual right wing, intolerant garbage that it will undermine the sanctity of marriage that the Catholic church preaches, you know, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THERE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SEPARATION BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE!

Anybigot, one HARDCORE, amazing student in particular decides to beat him at his own moronic game, by explaining that the American Psychology Association, among other scientific groups, have discovered none of his points to be true, and well, we'll just let you watch the rest for yourself!

Ch-ch-check it out (above)!

Yes, Rick Santorum, because an ancient text that's been translated and re-interpreted for centuries obviously knows more than today's leading doctors and scientists! Thank goodness you are able to clear that up for us!

Again, mad props to the young lady who was brave enough to stand up to his nonsense!

Now can we please get a Republican candidate who can actually argue a legitimate reason that gay marriage shouldn't happen, and you know, not instead get schooled by a college student in law, politics, and EQUAL RIGHTS, all of which this fool wants to represent for the American public?

K! Thanks!

All the Republican hate is to lure dumb people into voting for them not understanding that they are actually voting to give the giant gas companies more tax breaks. The gay thing is a Republican scam. It's all about the corporations running the country not the people. Get it?

  2. 2

sure….you were born that way. and hows your relationship with your dad dude?

  3. 3

So what he's saying is that any study undertaken by any group is not valid as evidence because not everybody in that field belongs to that group? Surely that means that any study that he is using to back up his argument that gay marriage will be destructive to the family is also invalid. And this guy is a qualified lawyer? That's scary, and that's without even mentioning all of the other ridiculous aspects of his objections to gay marriage.

  4. 4

Wait, so the american psychological association isn't a valid source of information, but the catholic church is? I don't get his reasoning at all XD But either way good for her, it takes balls to stand up to somebody like that!

  5. 5

Go Girl! She sounded very eloquent and I strongly support her stance. But I need to make a separate point that many gay rights supporters may be unaware of…or at least don't seem aware of. I am a Christian and I do believe my Bible, but when I read books like Romans I see Paul as speaking of immorality (which I view as things like pedophilia) and not against homosexuality. Obviously I do not take the Bible to be a literal word for word interpretation, but I do believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. I realize this wasn't what the girl who argued against Santorum was speaking of, but he seemed to be talking about how the Bible is against gays…and I do NOT believe that!

  6. 6

Uh, the American Psychological Association presents RESEARCH-BASED data that have been used as evidence for everything from the benefits to children of being breast fed to the harmfulness of abuse to learning-based strategies that are used in the finest school systems. What website did this guy buy his law degree from? He apparently wouldn't know evidence if it kicked him in the balls.

  7. 7

Oh, and right — the Bible is evidence. Uh huh.

  8. 8

Yup, we need equal rights for gays, so we can post pictures of shittin' on the Bieber.
    -
This afternoon, my gay dance partner at the dance studio was appalled seeing this level of depravity and embarrassed by it.

  9. 9

This isn't a comment on same sex relationships or politics. This is simply a comment to state that the college student didn't "win" the argument - she pushed back and Rick stood his ground. She wasn't "fierce" - she voiced her opinion but Rick won in the sense that he continued to own and have control of the entire discussion.

  10. 10

There IS no legitimate reason why gay marriage shouldn't happen. I am all for letting people following their own religious beliefs IN THEIR OWN LIVES. I will absolutely defend Rick Santorum's right not to marry another man. But he has no right to tell anyone else who they should marry.

  11. 11

If he wants to make the assertion that studies the American Psychological Association has done is "not proof of anything" and that it's just a bunch of people "who agree with [eachother]" then the SAME DAMN THING can be said about the Catholic Church! And just like he said that not all doctors and psychologists belong to the AMA and APA, NOT ALL AMERICANS BELONG TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH! It is NO ONES business who a person chooses to be in a relationship with, and for the government to put constraints on something they view as "immoral" is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and WRONG!

  12. 12

"If we're going to be a lawyer, we need to talk about the Constitution, which you clearly have never read." NICE! It must suck to be a presidential candidate who can't even manage to sway a group of college students… or even speak to them and answer their questions without resorting to @sshattery ("That's not the point, LAWYER!")

  13. 13

I wonder if she would approve of some gay blogger posting and tweeting images of himself pretending to shit on Bieber? You're the reason there are people like Santorum and you're just too stupid to face the fact.

  14. hnnh says – reply to this

    14

If he's saying that the American Psychology Association isn't proof of anything because it's an organization comprised of similarly opinionated professionals, then the same could be said about any study published from any organization! Because that's what an organization is - like-minded people who gather to pool their resources and effort into projects they ALL appreciate! So following his reasoning, the Republican Party isn't proof of anything either, because only people who agree with Republican reasoning join the Republican Party! Dick.

  15. 15

Also, how incredibly patronising was he when he just kept saying 'time out' at her over and over again? Not only did it show that he had no answer to what she was saying, but he doesn't seem to be particularly interested in talking with students (and potential voters) and hearing their point of view; he seems to prefer talking at them, or down to them. Is that how he's going to deal with tricky questions during a debate?! 'TIME OUT, Mr President, TIME OUT'

  16. 16

Society would be a much better place if there wasn't so many moronic, narrow minded dimwits. So, I guess it's better to have straight parents who can't provide for their children, are abusive, etc than to have loving parents who care for their children.

Your values, integrity is about how you are raised. And I see none of that Rick. I wonder where YOUR parents went wrong.

Why do people care about something that does not affect them? Whether you accept it or not, your CHILD will have their own choice in who they love. You'll never move forward if you continue to spew hate and prejudice.

  17. 17

As a student who actually attended this event, I am here to tell you I was inspired by Rick Santorum. The man is a great, honest speaker who knows what he is talking about and is quite passionate about what is best for this country. The student who challenged Mr. Santorum clearly lost this argument even though she proceeded to yell over everything he said. If you liberals had more than a 2:50 clip to go off of, you might understand the true situation. The student continued attempts to challenge Santorum most of the event and she consistently looked silly.

  18. 18

APA does have a very liberal agenda, just like evolutionists. APA foundational belief is from the Kinsey report (the fundamental study for homo-sexuality) which is hugely flawed. Rick probably knows this and wasn't in a position to debate this chick in THIS FORUM. Chick just spewed the liberal university psychological rhetoric without any data to enforce her argument.

BTW KR 's research was done with using male prisoners for it's data, stating that sexual practices in that environment is the same in as the general population. That's how the ration of 1 out of 10 men are gay. APA knows that this study is highly flawed but supports the rational because THEY WANT TO.

Also Perez you desperately show your ignorance. Separation of church and state is not in the first constitution at all. This is what it says: The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

  19. 19

Geesh….first, he was not "beat down"; rather, he and she each held their own and made their points. You just happen to agree with her and so you see it in a biased way. Second, Perez, do not quote the Constitution and specifically, the separation of church and state when you clearly don't understand its meaning. That phrase is meant to allow religious freedom without government intrusion. Kinda cuts against your argument. Third, gays can and do have "equal rights" ie all the rights/benefits of marriage. They just want the term "marriage" but that term, in an of itself, does not symbolize "equality".

  20. 20

Jefferson reflected his frequent speaking theme that the government is not to interfere with religion. See, you mess with the truth and people become dumb sheep, believing lies. Homosexuality is a big lie undermining the roles of a mother and father in respect to family traditions. A country that manifests it's self in amoral behavior falls….look at Rome…

  22. 22

Why can't I be a Republican and gay? I belive in less taxes, less government, and gay marriage.

  24. 24

I applaud this girl! But you Perez, how dare you come and call this Ignorant man names, when you are abusing a minor's image?! You are an insult to the gay community.

  25. 25

The American Psychological Association is a group of people that agree with each other and that doesn't prove anything? Isn't that essentially any research? And yet the Bible that was written in a time when people thought the world was still flat is evidence? People can play the religious right anyway they want but ultimately, everyone in this country has the right to believe what they do and as long as no one is being hurt or harmed, let them be. There are Republicans that do agree or can at least understand gay marriage, if only everyone could be accepting.

  26. 26

She did have a great aurgument, I do believe churchs should be able to be able to hold bigot standards just like he said and still be tax exempt.

  27. 27

Re: psugirl10 – you're full of shite, that's not how it happened.

and Re: stamina – , regardless of knowing where your 'facts' come from, your personal opinion is what clearly shows your own ignorance.

  28. 28

Wow. I almost wish Santorum was relevant enough just so I could see how the APA and AMA responds to this insanity.

  29. 29

Santorum is a right wing fringe lunatic who hates America. Anyone who supports him hates America.

  30. 30

"An organization supporting a position is not evidence." He said it himself. It's what he's trying to sell but can't buy. Asking for evidence that what he's saying is bullshit is like asking how a rock keeps tigers away, simply because there aren't any around. What a dumb, dumb, dumb man. And yes, a bigot.

  31. 31

Rick Santorum’s first mistake was to walk in to a room of people with intelligence. He was way out of his league.

  32. 32

Re: boston61 – I agree wholeheartedly but I would replace Republican with Politician..

Anyone who believes the stump speeches are anything more than currying favor with a demographic needs to examine their gullibility. And he is missing the point, it isn't what he believes personally but what he advocates for politically. If your stance is soley due to religious believe and you identify that you will pass legislation based on that principle as it's center point… it is an abuse of power. I have serious doubts that this stance is anything more than rallying a demographic and it would be a snowballs chance in hell that he would use political points to pass. Or that any Democrat would use politician points to fight for equality. Hence the status quo that is represented by never pushing forward federal policy to change the specifics of marriage

  33. 33

God, please let our next president have a father and a mother. Amen.

  34. 34

His opinion nor does the bible prove any facts either. His argument of why noone has proved that it is okay is just the same as proposing why it isnt. Its all based on opinions but the constitution is an actual document that we base our laws off of and the last time I checked to deny anyone freedom based on any prejudice is against it. Not to mention if his argument is valid then maybe he should tell straight people to quit having gay babies! Cause last time I checked two gay people couldnt. Seems just as plausible as his argument. Or maybe if we are all gonna base this on religion we should ask for PROOF of God! Anytime I have ever asked that question I was told you just have to have faith. And the last time politics and religion were put together a lot of INNOCENT people were burned at the stake!

  35. 35

"Separation of Church and State" appears nowhere in the Constitution. Congress can't establish a church. More importantly, Congress can't prohibit a person's free exercise of religion, including Sen. Santorum's.

  36. 36

What gives you or any other gay individual the right to take the freedom of choice or speech from another. If someone believes homosexuality is wrong then they have the right to believe so just as you have the right to believe it is ok. The gay community expresses their belief to be treated as equal but over and over again you have to introduce yourself as " Hi i'm Perez and I'm gay", that alone proves that you, yourself are segregating from others. You don't see african Americans saying "Hi im John and I'm black". You make being gay the thing that defines you. What defines you is your actions as a human and the way you treat others. And please quit using "I was born this way" you are not born any certain way. The poor kids become rich, fat become skinny, slow become smart and so on.

  37. 37

you used the separation of church and state in the wrong context………. it was established to PROTECT religious people from being discriminated under the law…wow….. dumdum

  38. 38

The man has an opinion. This is America. Last I checked, we still had the right to independent thought and beliefs. Apparently, hes a Catholic. Last I checked he had the right to exercise his faith and adhere to its beliefs. What the APA decides to embrace is just one groups opinion - others may disagree. Lets face it, there are even those in the GLBT community who arent behind gay marriage. Its unfair to call him ignorant just because he disagrees with your opinion. Some might think you're ignorant for your beliefs or for your inability to proofread your daily blurbs.

  39. 39

This guy is an idiot. An idiot and an asshole. Fuck you Rick, but go fierce college girl! Woo!

Anyone who supports him hates America."

    -
Sorry to inform you, but Santorum is part of the majority, not the fringe.
    -
Actually, only 20% of Americans categorize themselves as Liberal, versus 40% Conservative, which makes you the fringe, the ultra-Leftwing fringe of America, not us. heh
    -
If you were the majority, Obummer's poll numbers would be up, not in the sewer.
If you were in the majority, all of Obummer's bankrupting utopian grand schemes would be in effect.

  41. 41

I really enjoyed reading all of the posts today on this blurb. It makes me wonder why so many educated and well informed people still read this site. It's like crack for the smart and reinforcement for the stupid!

  42. 42

It is amazing that many of these ultra right wing candidates simply make things up as they go along, clearly ignoring scientific studies proving the truth, as in this case, that children growing up in same sex households are well adjusted. The problem is a lack of education, and I am talking about with these ultra right wing candidates. They need to be the ones who get a good education and learn about scientific research and how it proves theories right and wrong. The problem is, these ignorant uneducated idiots are the very same politicians who cut education spending.

  43. 43

Re: stamina – I've had some time to reflect on your posts, given that there are like three of them. I'm not saying your right or wrong necessarily…I'm just trying to flesh this out in my mind. Regarding the quote by Thomas Jefferson, as Geat Real stated quite well, this was not a simple meeting of minds to share views on religious issues. This man has held office, pushed legislation and is running for Presidential candidacy. So if we follow this logically, he is voting based on his own "free exercise" of faith. However, the legislation he votes for effects constituents which exercise their own particular brand of faith and beliefs. So again, logically, is he not hindering other's their free exercise? What's more, when so many like-minded individuals form a political party with their own agreed upon views evidenced by their faith, have they not (logically) created an 'unofficial ' religion held up and promoted by the government in which they hold office? I don't know…just something I was thinking about.

  44. 44

it's so funny how the ahole tries to silence here, tries to mock her ( calling her lawyer, in order to make himself the alpha dog of the situation). he's an alpha dog, yeah, cause he barks a lot. amazing, after 200 from the anti-catholicism movement, the monsters re-emerged… brave girl!!! who is she?

  45. 45

JENS OPINION: " I really enjoyed reading all of the posts today on this blurb. It makes me wonder why so many educated and well informed people still read this site. It's like crack for the smart and reinforcement for the stupid! "
    -
    -
JO, we loved your witty words, but why don't you do everyone a favor and never come back here, you elitist bitch.

  46. 46

Re: melonia – if you don't take the bible as a literal word to word interpretation, why do you take it at all? if God is perfect, he wouldn't have told people to kill the virgins at their parents doorsteps if they were no longer virgins, at the day of their wedding, and so many other atrocities. believe in it totally and be a crazy bigot like every christian or do not believe it at all. but don't be a coward. people on the fence are cowards, not sure about what the truth is, they should not give their stupid opinions.

  47. 47

Not only is Rick Santorum wrong, he's lying regarding 501(c)(3) status. What a psycho. Good on the girl for standing up to the loser. And by the way Ricky, you didn't give her a chance to talk, you kept talking over her. And guess what else, Ricky - you are a bigot!

  48. 48

Can someone explain to me how people who read the bible think this makes any sense? So if the American Psychology Association has proven studies that a child who grows up in a gay household is happy and as long as a child has two loving parents they are great, how is this man argument that the American Psychology Association only made up of people that agree with those views therefore for their studies are not valid? Um… isn't this the case with religion? People get together to with the same BS view on GAY marriage and call it an abolishment… where are the facts?!?! :::HIGHLY ANNOYED::

  49. 49

    Amen sister!
She tried to at least one point across and he kept interrupting her and through the whole thing it was all about winning the debate by making fun of her argument and calling for time out.
What strikes me as scary is that when people like this man think they're having a conversation, they're not even listening to the other party, they're just powering on, being as loud as they can be, almost as to try to convince themselves as well.
If you're going to speak at a university or with ANY other human being, you LISTEN to their point of view, not every truth is the only truth and people like this guy somehow have forgotten that.
Also, just because something's been around for 2000 years doesn't mean it's an absolute truth, for a very long time, we thought the earth was flat and that the sun revolved around it.. well.. I rest my case.

  50. 50

I do not believe that she spoke eloquently. It is great that she stood up and acknowledged that his ideas on gay marriage are very off base however, continually talking over someone is just disrespectful make your point and move on and if someone interrupts you while making your point then point it out they'll shut up. I do not believe that religion should play a part in politics and instead of preaching his version of the bible he should have been discussing his political stances. Marriage is union of two people sex of the individuals doesn't matter. A family can mean many things some people are raised by grandparents, aunts, single mothers/fathers. Children need positive influences in their life. Kids dont care if they dont have a parent of each sex and it doesnt harm them. What might cause problems is when they get teased by other children who have been taught by their closed minded parents that it is wrong. We need to open our minds and hearts to ideas and opinions that make us uncomfortable in order to enjoy everything that life has to offer. Thanks! :)

  51. 51

Go girl! You took the words right out of my mouth! He is such a descrimonatory a-hole…

  52. 52

Re: luvs2tango – Yeah, as long as someone is raised by a mother and a father, that automatically grants you a well balanced and happy upbringing? Sure, tell that to the kids who get molested by their parents, beat or have to spend their entire childhood taking care of their alcoholic/druggie parents.. or be on the run with mommy because daddy's so violent, they have to hide not to get killed.
Now I'm not saying EVERY parent is like this, but would you not rather have two responsible parents who planned having you and who will do anything in their power to provide you with love and a stabile home, no matter what gender they are???

  53. Jai says – reply to this

    53

Rick Santorum is an idiot. It terrifies me that this man wields political power. The APA is a scientific organization. They publish the results of peer reviewed scientific studies conducted by highly educated and well respected researchers. The bible on the other hand is an archaic work of fiction.

  54. 54

    Re: OhJustPickOne – -
    -
I wasn't speaking about mothers and fathers and all that gay pc crap of 2 fathers/mothers if it's normal or not. It's not normal.
    -
I was referring directly to Obummer.
A loving father and mother, instead of being dumped off to everyone and raised with a known pedophile to deal with, would have made a different man than this huckster.
No wonder the man hates everything and everybody but himself.
    He's destroyed the Democrat Party.
    -
Himself, BHO - That's all that matters to him - typical dictator
    -
It's just stunning how the country is broke, we're in real peril and all you care about is gay bullshit.

  55. 55

I think it is so unbelievably sad that people in the gay community are still having to fight for the rights that should be given to them without question, it's 2011. These bigots filled with hate for not only homosexual Americans but also African-Americans, Arab-Americans, and people of other ethnicities, are setting this country back years and are ultimately making the rest of us look bad. Frankly, as a student attending a University with, what I believe to be, a very good educational background, I find it disgusting that people with these horribly offensive ideals want to run for office. I think we all need to take a step back and see how far we've come with similar battles such as woman's suffrage and the outlawing of slaver. People always say that we should not compare the fight for homosexual rights to those previously stated controversies, but they are in fact extremely similar. I have many homosexual friends and they see the need for these rights to be just as important as women felt their right to vote was and African-Americans felt their freedom was. Who are we to tell who they can and can't love, we are all equals, no matter who you love, what color you are, or what religion you practice.

  56. 56

This girl is such a bad ass! So courageous of her to stand up against bigotry.

  57. 57

SANTORUM is that stuff that sticks on your ass when you're trying to wipe clean.

  58. 58

His argument is pure nonsense, as in it makes no sense. It's self-contradictory.

  59. 59

What a condescending xyz. TIME OUT, TIME OUT, TIME OUT. Everytime that girl started to make a point, the big bully said, TIME OUT. TIME OUT. TIME OUT. Does he think we can't see what an xyz he is. TIME OUT.

  60. 60

Re: Meggie246524 – TIME OUT. TIME OUT. TIME OUT. Yep, those are winning words . . .

  61. 61

Re: stamina – Not true, stimina. I suggest that people read these studies for ourself.

  62. 62

I Wish There Was More People In The World Like Her :)

  63. 63

Perez– do not even pretend to understand the United States Constitution, because if you did you would understand what our Founding Fathers meant by separation of Church and State. It means that the United States Government cannot establish a Church or official religion of the land (in comparison to the Church of England). Look it up. If you would start researching your own blog postings you might gain some legitimacy.

  64. 64

Re: luvs2tango – You know, you sound really ignorant there. This is just THE right time to be fighting for equal rights for EVERYONE who pays taxes and is a human being, in YOUR country as well. Especially now with the economy being as bad as it is.
Imagine being gay (I know, yuck and all that, but still, imagine) being in a serious relationship (as close as marriage can get without the paperwork), having kids (yeah, kids) and your loved one dies. You're left with having to deal with the possibility of not being able to continue raising your precious children (if they're underage and not adopted or by your blood), you might not be able to feed them with one salary only but since you weren't married, you're not getting the financial aid you might otherwise have gotten.. are you following where I'm going? Don't be so incredibly ignorant that you try to throw an economic crisis around as a reason NOT to care about people. If you don't care about people in a crisis, WHEN are you gonna care?
Also, gay people didn't create your problems, YOU did!

  65. 65

Santorum claims he is not a bigot, because he is doing what the Catholic church told him to.

The Catholic church has done many bigoted things in its history including killing "witches", torturing protestants to death, supporting slavery, blocking civil rights for blacks, and murdering innocent Muslim civilians living in Jerusalem at the time of the Crusades. To this day it indirectly encourages its followers to beat up and kill gay people by spreading lies about gays. Just because a church advocates something does not exclude it from being bigotry. Just because the church harboured, aided and abetted pedophiles does not make it right. Santorum was never big on logic.

  66. 66

It upsets me when people like Santorum are presented with EVIDENCE and while in the process they make a complete ass of their self trying to prove that what they think is correct. I've matured but one thing i keep in mind even today is that you can be confident in what you speak about and care about it. But when you cant even back up what you believe with accurate legitimate proof other than a man up in the sky told some people 2000 years ago that maybe you should hold off on having sex with guys cuz we need to repopulate since we are in wars constantly then there might be a problem. There is no proof that what the bible says is truth. there is no proof that i was born queer and no studies that i have found have defiantly proven nature over nurture so i might sing along to gagas song but i hold back on having my own belief that i was born this way because there is no proof…yet! what is proven that homosexuality is not a mental disorder. The list goes on and on and if Santorum was a smart man he wouldnt hold the bible to his eyes and claim "educated ignorance."

Re: luvs2tango – TALK ABOUT IGNORANT… so if I have all of the qualifications to be a GREAT president, but was unfortunate enough to have had one of my parents DIE, or had one bad parent who was out of the picture but had one strong parent that raised me as a single mother or father you would not consider me a candidate to hold the job??? What a completely ridiculous statement. You must live in a bubble if you and everyone you respect in your life has two good parents.

  68. 68

You are a bigot Rick Santorum!
This bigoted idiot is running for President????
No wonder people around the world think America is in decline!

  69. 69

And he belongs to the group that believe gay man are a sin, and where is the evidence to prove that. He just belongs to that group. LOL And this are the people who run America…….WOW.

  70. 70

And the catholic church is proof of nothing as well — it's just a group of people who have the same opinion — if he's going to make that argument, he better make it both ways — he's a loser

  71. 71

If that chick is reading this; FUCK YEAH! It takes fucking balls to do what you did! And we fucking need more ppl like you! Go you!

  72. Lyyli says – reply to this

    72

Re: chichimagees – I would suggest checking out Libertarian views. You sound a lot like me before I discovered that, yes, there is a third option - and it makes a lot of sense if you're willing to give it a chance.

  73. 73

WOW. But the bible is "proof"? This guy is a complete jackass.

  74. 74

for the record, scripture has never said homosexuality of itself was a sin. the principles of the new covenant say over and over that being gay is of god. antiqity has never been a litmus test for the truth, particularly with the catholic church, 800 years of practicing indulgences, 1700 years of condoning ethnic slavery, 2000 years of antisemetism(7 inquistions, the leader of the last was elected pope……in spite of romans 9,10,11).

the apa is a credited scientific organization who have come to their conclusions based on their study of scientific evidence.

santorum offers no evidence to confront this evidence but merely offers his belief system, one that has been passed down generationally for 600 years since king henry head of the church /state made it illegal, because of having been raised and educated catholic(to become a priest).

2000 years of theological study????? i would so love to confront him on this so called understanding about what scipture says.

historically the spirt in the lives of those who have been gay has been no different from the spirit of those heterosexual. in spite of human culture, in essence, homosexuals have always been absolutely equal to heterosexuals.

  75. 75

what a piece of SCUM this asshole is - his name's NEW (see: REAL) MEANING SUITS HIM PERFECTLY!!!!

  76. 76

I wholeheartedly agree with the girl, as she uses her education, reasoning, logic and compassion to make her point. Santorum is just a cauldron stirrer, saying the same old thing. What I want to know is, why is the gay marriage subject such a hotbed for "conservatives" to scream about? If you look in Leviticus, you will see MANY MORE scriptures pertaining to heterosexual adultery, sex with relatives, bestiality, etc., but you NEVER hear one conservative talking about them. The biblical punishment for many of them was stoning to death. This is proof that the bible has many passages that are just out of date and need retired. Christian conservatives always pick and choose scriptures that condemn others, but never mention punishments that pertain to themselves. HYPOCRITES!!!

  77. 77

Perez equal rights for all.. does mean the right to free speech and to have opinions. I hope you are aware of this. Homosexuality will never be 100% accepted, to many it seems unnatural, as we all know that men and women were put on this earth to procreate and evolve… Idc fuck who u want, but don't shout equality for all, if you are going to trample on people's freedom while you are doing it.

  78. 78

God this idiot makes me embarrassed to be not only Catholic but also a Republican….just for the record…this man does not represent the views of all catholics or all Republicans. He is an freaking idiot and good for that girl to present him with organized information that prove his THEORIES completely wrong.

  79. 79

I just do not understand why he is focusing so hard on the gay marriage issue when it is and will continue to be a states right. It is time for everyone to move on and accept that gay marriage and gay right will eventually become an accepted idea. There are more important social issues at hand and all I have ever heard out of this man's mouth is his christian values. As a catholic i can easily say this is not someone who would live like Jesus would want. THe bible says many many things are sinful but somehow people seem to believe it is the MAIN RULE that the bible conveyed. It is ridiculous. If you are gay you are gay, if you want to be married and have kids….fucking do it. I cannot believe so many people care about what their fellow free man is doing in their personal time.

Re: luvs2tango – JO, we loved your witty words, but why don't you do everyone a favor and never come back here, you elitist bitch.

What about me makes you think I am an elitist? I simply challenged his arguement and then said I enjoyed reading the posts. I saw a lot of great material in them. However, what I saw in your posts were a lot of vague statistics and anger and personal name calling. So if by me not coming back on here does YOU a favor then you really need to get some kind of a life more so than fighting with people on Perez Hilton. Great choice for your political soapbox idiot!

  81. 81

Re: MsJules – "as we all know"? We do? Who told you or us? The bible? For many people, straight or gay, that is not their goal in life. Everybody's entitled to live the life they want to live and there are plenty of women out there who do not feel the need or urge to become a mother. 'And you do realise that you're trampling on some people's freedoms when you do not support equality for all, right?

  82. 82

Just saying here Perez. If you want to try to act intelligent, then you should have enough sense to know that there is no such thing as "Separation of church and state". Please find for me the part of the Constitution that says that. You can't, because it doesn't exist. What is says is that the government cannot create or enforce any laws that deprive citizens the right to choose their own religion. Democrats created the whole bullshit "separation of church and state" crap to bolster their own anti-religious views. You call everyone who has a religious belief; which they are completely entitled to under the constitution; a bigot, hater, homophobe, blah blah blah. You Perez are, in fact, the hater. Equality is built on mutual acceptance and understanding. Equality is NOT built on "you are wrong, I am right". You are no different than those you rail against. You are just the other side of the same coin. Neither Republicans, nor Democrats are right. They are what keeps America from ever moving forward. Tired old "us and them" politics that separate us.

  83. 83

"The American Psychological Association is not proof of anything" What an moronic statement to make… How pathetic… this guy is really an idiot…

So what's proof of something? The theocratic mythology he believes in? PLEASE!!! He was literally POWNED… wow

  84. 84

I created an account specifically to comment on this. I go to Penn State, and I could not be more proud of my peer; she really held her own against the bully that is Rick Santorum. I don't even know why he bothered coming here, as he probably would not have received many Penn State votes at all (and after this, I'd be surprised if he gets any). We Are!

  85. 85

Sooo someone is ignorant just because they don't agree with your views watermelon head? i thought you liberal gays are so understanding and except everyone? guess not, it seems like you're a bunch of bigots.

  86. 86

I really hate when people say that the bible tells you not to like gay people. I mean come ooooon I was on catholic school and they never ever would say that. EVER!!! So this man should study the bible little bit better, cause it says to love everybody with no exeptions. But one good thing about him. Even though he didn´t like what the girl was sayinh he did let her speak. So a little tiny plus for him. But a big minus for being so closed-minded

  87. 87

I like how he realises he's wrong an starts shouting 'time out'.

  88. 88

After watching this I was wondering if Rick is aware that the Catholic Church is made up of people who agree with the Catholic Church? I also wonder if he knows the argument that it's not Bigotry because its the teaching of the Catholic Church is a weak argument when you take into account things like the Catholic Church burned people alive for pointing out the Earth revolved around the Sun. Rick do a little research and you may find the Catholic Church as been known to get stuff wrong from time to time…. just saying
