| Filed under: TV NewsBroadway BabiesCher

Holy crap. Holy crap. Holy crap.

How on EARTH did this get lost in time?!

Back in 1978, Cher headlined a television variety special on ABC, and started the program by performing EVERY SINGLE PART in an epic, 12-minute rendition of West Side Story, and somehow, this very rare footage has made its way on-line, and EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE IT NOW!

Ch-ch-check out all of the vintage amazingness from Cher…Special (above)!

She is a goddess. There's nothing else to even say!

Now, if you don't mind, we're going to be playing this on loop for the next 15 days. Kthanks.

Thanks for having the balls to show us who Gaga ripped off the other night. Almost everything Gaga does was done 30 or more years ago but most people are to young to know.

    Impressive.

    Hot

the only reason he is up Cher's ass right now is because there is already speculation that the new single featuring GAGA is going to flop because of the backlash… There was a time when I would have participated in Cher reading the phone book but I REFUSE to even listen to the upcoming song on the radio let alone purchase it. Nice try Perez!

Re: rayrayrayray – What f@cking backlash are you talking about?? you need to shut your pie hole before someone shuts it for you. I hope your family is considering to euthanize your stupid a$$! Go straight to h@ll and die there you cesspool!
Suicide would be nice. God Bless

Re: Celiacubeforum – LOL….lovely… why such anger? the backlash against Cher for lowering herself to work with GAGA and the backlash against GAGA for buying into her own hype…. Im not sure what a 'pie hole' is but it made me laugh right out loud… thanks - you made my day! LOL LOL LOL

This wasn't lost…it is a special feature on the "Farewell Tour" DVD. It is amazing, though.

OMG…people were talented back in the day? What a revelation!!!
Yes, back in the day, singer had to be able to SING to have a successful record, performers really had to be able to sing, dance and play real instruments to be considered "musicians".
Holy crap, Holy crap Holy crap=what is being passed off today by 90% of the "artists" as talent.

My takeaway from watching this is that Cher does not have the voice to sing Broadway musicals. This was painful to watch.

Cher's voice is Cher's voice. To even attempt such a spectacle took huge cajones. When she sang "Somewhere" at the end, I was a believer. She pulled it off in my opinion. BRAVA!

Re: judalon – Agree. She has a bad voice. I love her though. Her acting is good and there is just something about her that kind of shines.

  15. 15

That is pretty amazing. Cher does not get enough credit for what she can do and what she does.

Cher is an amazing singer with a very unique sound. Too many of today”s singers sound exactly the same. There are exceptions, of course: Adele, the late great Amy Winehouse, back-in-the-day Whitney Houston, even further-back-in-the day Dusty Springfield, and don't even get me started on Divine Ms. Midler and Barbra. You knew immediately who was singing from the first few notes. Standing out in a crowd of overly-mixed, overly-fixed singers is not a bad thing. Yes, she had some wobbling in her upper register, but she was so committed to bringing these characters and their songs to life that the overall piece was pure magic — pure Cher!

hey whaddya know! It's Jo! LOL
