The Hunger Games To Launch A New Interactive Website!

| Filed under: Film FlickersHarry Potter

Move over, Pottermore! The Hunger Games is coming to getcha.

Lionsgate has really amped up their viral campaign for the upcoming movie as they've launched a new site where fans can register to be placed in their appropriate "district."

Based on events on the popular game, fans will follow the trials of main character Katniss Everdeen, who, like in the book, is selected from 12 districts, along with other teenage boys and girls, to fight to the death.

Director Gary Ross spoke about it, saying:

"That’s one of the fun things about it. There are times when you’re viscerally inside [Jennifer Lawrence's] shoes, and that’s the main experience. And there are other times when you’re witnessing her the way they’re witnessing her in the Game—and she’s constantly being watched, which is one of the things that makes the book so compelling. But it’s mainly an intense first-person experience, inside Katniss’ shoes."

The new site will feature a countdown to the games, a breakdown of the districts, and the opportunity for visitors to get their own District Identification Pass (DIP).

So cool!! And hopefully the site won't have that pesky long wait period to get our "confirmation emails," like a certain website that we've all been dying to get into!

Check out a screencap of the site (above) and visit the viral site HERE!

Perez…I don't mean this in the wrong way…but no one has ever heard of or let alone read the books this movie is based on other than a few egg heads in Hollywood… You are promoting heavily a movie that most visitors/fans to your site could care less about. Sorry but TRUE!!!

Actually…a lot of people know what the Hunger Games is. A lot of people love it. Such as me. I appreciate these updates. Just because you don't have any interest in it, doesn't mean no one else does. So shut up, Celia :)

Re: Brendan D. – Dear Brandon, You must be the minority…a poll was taken by Eonline of 10,000 people across the U.S. and only about 250 people knew about the books and the upcoming movie…and out of the 250 only 15 were under the age of 40. So Brendan before you start spouting off about things you obviously do not know about..check your facts and keep your pie hole shut before someone shuts it up for you! I really hope and pray that your family consider to euthanize you, I am sure by reading your uneducated post that your mother and father probably regret not getting that abortion. If I were you I would go ahead and commit suicide and free up the Earths resources for individuals who are worthy to be here. I also know from deep in my heart you will burn in h@ll you cesspool of sh@t. God Bless!

Celia, notice that this is Perez's website, not yours. So if you don't like the stuff that he writes about, then go somewhere else. The Hunger Games rocks. And I can't believe you would write such cruel, hateful, and rude comments all because someone likes a book/movie that you don't. Get a life!

Re: CeliacubeforumRe: Celiacubeforum – Actually, there are TONS of people that have read this. If you check on B&N's website, this trilogy is very popular. Maybe YOU don't read, but you'll see when the movie comes out. Thumbs down to you!!!

I like the hunger games. If the poll was only 10,000 people, it was probably done in the city streets. people under 40 are at work. young adults, who are the main audience of this young adult novel are either at school or home. PS- wrath and pride are both deadly sins :)

Fake, softcore version of Battle Royale.

Re: Celiacubeforum – The name is Brendan. And that whole paragraph was pointless. ACT like it offends me. You are probably some 50 year old dog with no life..Or just an idiot. Sooooo I don't give a shit.

Re: Celiacubeforum – At our college campus (30,000 people) they took a poll for their english class and asked students and faculty members if they have heard of these books and over 82% of people had heard of them and 51% have read at least one of the books.
