Whoa! Such a huge amount!
Producers of the movie Napoleon Dynamite are suing Fox Searchlight for $10 million for home video royalties and television licensing fees they claim were not paid to them.
They claim that they had several distributors who were interested in buying the film at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004, but they went with Fox Searchlight because of the high royalties that were offered to them.
The complaint also says that Fox Searchlight agreed to pay 31.66% of net profits on home video, however a 2008 audit shows that Fox was only paying them at a 9.66% rate!
What the…!!! NOT COOL!
They're suing for the fees, royalties and breach of contract.
They totally took advantage of the underdog. Really bad business, Fox. The movie made nearly $45 million and the producers should get their proper share. Pay up!
