Well it's about time this got resolved! This was absolutely foolish to begin with!
Earlier in the year, when Britney Spears dropped her lead single off of Femme Fatale, Hold It Against Me, the Bellamy Brothers ran their mouths off to anyone who would listen, claiming that it was a rip off their 1979 song - "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me?"
Obviously, that's pretty much all the two tracks have in common, so Dr. Luke and co-writer Max Martin pressed charges against them for defamation, but according to court documents filed last week, the lawsuit has been dropped - because the Bellamy Brothers have finally admitted what everyone else already knew!
The official apology reads:
"The Bellamy Brothers apologize to Dr. Luke and Max Martin for the Bellamys' public statements and any false impressions suggested by the statements on their website that Dr. Luke and Max Martin copy the works of others."
We're glad to see that no one had to go through the headache of a trial - especially when it would have been such an open and closed case!
