Good! We're glad that they're not just letting this slide!
In light of The Game's completely IGNORANT comments yesterday which implied that all closeted gay men have AIDS, and are spreading it to straight people, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation has responded with the following statement:
"[The Game's comments are] a powerful reminder that despite the tremendous progress made debunking myths and stereotypes about how HIV is spread, we still have work to do. [Game] seems to be confusing two important facts — that black and gay communities continue to bare the brunt of the U.S. epidemic. Experts agree that the hype around people on the 'down low' driving new infections among either group is just that — hype. We'd welcome the chance to help him better understand HIV risk and prevention so he can use his voice to inform and empower."
They handled it with a lot more patience then we ever could have!
Here's hoping he stops and thinks twice about what he's saying next time, especially when perpetuating misinformed stereotypes and generalizations that have no basis in fact!
