Very sad news.

Cliff Robertson, best known for his Academy Award winning role in the 1968 film Charly, and more recently, as Uncle Ben in the Spider-Man films, died yesterday at the age of 88.

Strangely enough, he was also a certified pilot on and was in the air, flying a private plane over New York City this very morning ten years ago in 2001.

He was a truly gifted actor, and will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts go out to his friends, family, and loved ones during this impossibly difficult time.

May he R.I.P.

Robertson was a pretty good actor and was known to be a very nice man. He blew the whistle on a studio head who was forging Robertson's name on checks and basically stealing money from him. To repay him, the Hollywood community basically blackballed him and he didn't work for many years. Sucks to be an honest man in Hollywood.

Met him many times at the National Aviation Hall of Fame in Dayton, OH. If you are not familiar with the NAHF, you should look it up. It is headquartered at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. Mr. Robertson was a very distinguished member of this elite group of aviation heroes.
So sad that our heroes of a past era are passing.

Send condolences to his lovely children….

    Quite a man.
