Alec Baldwin Insists He Skipped Emmys For Tony Bennett's Birthday
As we previously reported, Alec Baldwin skipped out on the Emmys. For a while, everyone thought it was because of Fox's decision to pull his Rupert Murdoch sketch.
But nope! He insists the no-show is due to a prior commitment to host Tony Bennett's 85th Birthday Gala in New York City. We knew about the gala, but like everyone else, we still wondered a bit.
However, despite claims that the birthday bash was an excuse, the 30 Rock star exclaims:
I didn’t skip the Emmys because of [the Murdoch sketch] I skipped the Emmys because of this — because I wanted to be [with Tony Bennett]. [I'll catch them] on YouTube tomorrow.
All right then, Alec. If YOU say so! Oh, by the way, Happy Birthday Tony!!!
