Boo! Girl Asked To Leave School After Coming Out!

Masters School Boo Kicks Out Girl

This is NOT cool.

A girl who was brave enough to come out as gay was asked to leave her school (The Master's School, a Christian school outside Hartford, CT), DESPITE being a model student. We're talking sports, extracurriculars, good grades, and on the right track.

Then she told teachers and administrators she was gay and she was promptly "encouraged to withdraw" from school, according to news reports. She isn't out to bash the school. But what kind of message does it send when a school that promotes honesty tells one of its own to leave for being open about who she is?

We are so tired of things like this happening! She sounds like a wonderful person and student. We can't understand why people wouldn't want her to be a part of their institution. Especially because NOTHING changed from who she was before she came out and after. Not one thing. She would still be that same student.

You can help out here, and see if we can't get some things changed!

So a gay person willingly and knowingly attends a CHRISTIAN school knowing damn well about how Christians feel about homosexuality and she/you and gays are shocked by this?……idiots.

  2. 2

Yea….It's not right, but we're taking Christian School, The Church. What did she expect?? They would almost have to to save face. And I'm sure parents paying the pricey admissions have the same religious values…Not too smart on her part…

She should be asked to leave!!! The Master's School is a Christian school that adhere's to the Bible's teachings and if you would read the Bible you would know that homosexuality is a sin. I applaud them for standing up for morals and values.

  4. 4

I think it's too bad, but it's not the end of the world. There are strides being made but not all battles can be won. This type of topic really could become a massive debate I think both sides have good points.

  5. 5

i thought this site was "Celebrity Gossip" not "feel bad for all the stuff gay people hade to go thru"….

  6. 6

Your "gay posts" are becoming more numerous than your gossip. Why don't you start another mini site for your pity-the-gay articles, so we can get back to reading gossip?"

  7. 7

While i dont agree with it, it is a private institution and as such they reserve the right to be bigots. gotta love those "he who is without sin cast the first stone" christians. Jesus would b so proud…

  8. 8

its a CHRISTIAN school. what did she expect? she had to know this might happen.

Re: Wrenn – Morals and values as you say….translation: act out of hatred and intolerance for fellow humans…and take a very OUTDATED book and live your lives LITERALLY by what it says…NO you are the idiot…get with it, it is 2011 and there is diversity…get used to it…With student suicides still continuing at a fever pace, this backwards thinking this school has exhibited is just another example of bullying…disgusting…and all of the comments that would support such behavior and thinking…sucks to be you…

It was designed, the plan, for her to be open about it, knowing she would get dismissed from the school. To act shocked is to be naive, at best. The Gay agenda needs to start taking a back seat to real problems this nation faces. It's just a distraction. All the news in the world, like this piece, will not change the way ignorant people think. Period. Bashing the bashers produces nothing. In time, as with everything else, Gays will have every right that everyone else has. Which is a fantastic thing. But at the moment there are much more disturbing things going on. Polarizing the hell out of the Gay agenda is great, not only for Gays, but for the political opposition as well. It serves as a gigantic distraction, which they need in order to retake power. Then you'll be set back another 20 years. Well done. Well done.

How very "christian" of them….to kick someone out….such the self-righteous bigots aren't they? God is love and we are all "gods" children…that is ignorant, reigious zealots for ya…acting out of fear of the unknown instead of trying to accept and understand….Get your OWN mind religous people, please….you may actually learn something by OPENING your eyes and looking at the world. That is my rant, thank you.

Re: sanfran1 – THANK YOU, i was just about to write the same.

and all of you who wrote she should have expected as much because it is a christian school - are you kidding me?!
christian doesn't mean you condemn homosexuality, anyone who says that or even worse acts like that is a disgrace to this religion and frankly makes me want to change mine.

and maybe, just maybe, it is enough with all the perez-hilton-bashing in the comment section; this article, for once, adresses something important. why do you have to focus on as to why this article is posted or why it is about a "gay thing" ?

seriously, if you don't care, don't read it, spare us the comments.

this is a very sad story, and what makes me really angry are morons who agree with this "christian" morale.
following that logic, it would be fine to stone a student because he had premarital sex, since it's a christian school? is that what you're saying?

  13. 13

It's a private institution. As long as it doesn't receive federal funding, they can be as backward thinking as they want. It shames me that they're are still country clubs that can ban blacks and jews, but private organizations can choose to do so. It's part of the shit end of living in a free society.

    Re: adg100

If you're suggesting that there are more important issues that this country is facing, then get the hell out of the way of my rights and let's get to the 'real' issues. The reason you might be thinking there are more important issues at hand is because the right to marry doesn't affect you, but it affects us. I understand your post was almost pro-gay rights, but please don't tell me my right to marry who I love is not worth fighting for. The sooner the people against same sex marriage realize that it doesn't affect them in any way, the sooner we can stop being embarrassed of the inequality homosexuals face in this nation.

  15. 15

I think this is wrong for any school to do but don't assume that all Christian schools do this. The local Catholic school near my town had a couple of open homosexuals.

  16. 16

Re: joethehobo – Excussse me? you think that your right to love is important then the lack of jobs and education? Or that someone can be excuted even when there is reasonable doubt in the case or that a policeman can get away with murdering a homeless man? im srry but ur morals are sooo wrong. yeah everybody should be able to marry who they want(even though marriage is rightly between a man and a women) but lets work on areas that affect the majority of this country. NOT EVERYONE IS GAY.

  17. 17

welll - they acted according to their moto. She spoke the truth, now she's free …

  18. 18

    Re: honeylove021

You seem to have misread my post. My post was did not ever say that the right to marry was more important than other issues going on today; in fact, I stated it would be a better use of EVERYONE'S time if people stopped fighting against equality. The only reason this is an issue is because the people who continue to vote against it make it an issue. Like you said, not everyone is a homosexual, but for some reason, everyone still votes on my rights.

If you had read my post clearly, you would realize that you have made my point stronger. In a day and age where, like you said, people are getting fired left and right, injustice in the legal system is frequent, and jobs are getting scarcer, why are people wasting their time telling someone they don't have the right to get married? I doubt you will take the time to look at my response because this isn't an issue for you. You have nothing at risk here, and have no vested intrest in this topic, but meanwhile, I have to fight for my rights that you already enjoy.
To the people out there who continue to vote against my rights, I want to ask you one question: If same sex marriage was legalized, in what way would it affect you?

  19. 19

Re: sanfran1 – i agree completely with both your posts!

  20. 20

You have to love Christians, the biggest hypocrites in the world.
They preach a good game, but do the total opposite in real life.

  21. 21

Usually Christian schools are all one gender for a reason, they don't want any sexual activity.
If there's a lesbian in an all girls school, well, it's like a kid in a candy store!

  22. 22

Yes…it sucks that people are still so caught up in others sexuality, BUT it's a christian school. Having gone to catholic school all my life, it's not exactly the type of place one should expect to dish out their personal life stories without assuming there will be repercussions. It just doesn't work that way, not bashing christian schools, just stating facts. ITS A PRIVATE INSTITUTION. They have every right to have done this, and when private institutions start being punished for this type of thing, thats when you should really be worried. They have nothing to hide, private schools literally have the right to make up all their rules no matter how stupid(aside from stuff like capital punishment of course, but we couldn't wear makeup for fucks sake) and they make you aware of that from the get go. It's not like the girl didn't know it was a christian school, came out, and then they went all biblical on her…she knew full well it was nbecause they were up front with their beliefs. Sheesh…my bad going off on a tangent and writing a novel

  23. 23

I find it funny that you people here at Perez Hilton are all about rights and freedom but when someone else is exercising their freedom that you just happen not to agree with, you raise all kinds of hell. I have nothing about gays, but come on, you guys are not the only people who have rights don't you think?

  24. 24

Re: sanfran1 – Hatred and intolerance for fellow humans?? Say that when your ass gets fired, and it'll be CHRISTIANS feeding and clothing you, you jerk. I'm not even religious, and I can't stand closed-minded people like you. Open your eyes next time, instead of just agreeing with whatever's "cool" and "rebellious" at the moment.

  25. 25

It is a private school and a VERY conservative one at that. If you attend a super conservative school you need to adhere to their conservative rules. It is a choice and not a right to go to such a school. And if her parents can afford to send her there, I'm betting that she does not live in the area of Hartford where public school would be bad to go to. There are plenty of other non Christian or less conservative Christian schools in that area. I may not agree with the conservative view that homosexulality is a sin, but that does not mean I am going to try to force someone who is that conservative to change their mind. It just breeds resentment. That girl knew when she came out publicly to her teachers that they would be forced to ask her to leave. It may not even be the view of the administrator who asked her to leave. Private schools depend on donations from alumni and that school has very conservative alumni who might stop giving money had they not done that. I find people who do an act just because they know it will light a fire, usually just want to watch it burn.

  26. 26

Let me start off by saying that I fully support equality and gay rights. However, we do not know the full story here, so I don't believe it's fair to jump to conclusions. A close family friend of mine attends the Master's School. It is not a cheap education by any means and they have a reputation to uphold. Perhaps the school believes they are protecting her from possible harassment. Or maybe, since students are given the option to board, they are concerned about potential sexual activity in the dorms. Either of those scenarios would not bode well for them, especially if they had the means to prevent such behavior. Also note that she was "encouraged", not forced to leave.

I can understand this happening in middle America, but to be occurring in an area of the country that has such a liberal mindset? Something seems off about this situation as it's been portrayed. Regardless, this story does not paint the school in a particularly flattering light. I would encourage Perez to investigate this story further so we know the full story here.

  27. 27

Perez, you CANNOT force a CHRISTIAN school to accept gays if it goes against their religion! SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!!!! Don't FORCE religions to conform to what you want! I'm a liberal, AND A CHRISTIAN, and as much as I want to see gay rights, you can't force a religious institution to change.

  28. 28

She should be protected from intolerance anyway - if this report is true, it's a toxic environment for her. Good for her for coming out. I hope she finds a nurturing, open-minded learning environment where she can be accepted for who she is.

  29. 29

Re: Carlos66 – its not just celebrity gossip. this is PEREZ'S website and he can bring awareness to causes that are important to him if he wants. got a problem?

  30. 30

some people are just sickening. They can't do that just because she is different? smfh

  31. 31

its a private christian school perez, they can do whatever the fuck they want because you pay to go there

  32. 32

Perez, I love you and have always thought you were amazing. But lately it seems like you have been doing to others what you yourself claim you are against. Christians are as welcome to their beliefs as homosexuals are to theirs. Stop putting down people for their beliefs because they are different from yours. I am a strong Christian woman with an lesbian sister whom I love but it doesn't change my beliefs and you know what, my sister would never ask me to. As long as that school let her go respectfully, showing the grace God has shown us all, then they did fine. No one should be surprised, it's the beliefs of the school.

  33. 33

Why would you tell teachers and administration members that you were gay? Whether you are gay or straight, that's inappropriate. It just seems like she was forcing them to react.
