Activists To Protest Hollywood's New Chick-Fil-A!!!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayBusiness Blitz

chick fil a is anti gay

Hollywood just opened a brand new Chick-Fil-A on Sunset and Highland.

The fast-food chain, as yummy as some may find it, is tainted with discrimination.

Chick-fil-A and its nonprofit WinShape Foundation have donated money to organizations working against marriage equality, specifically Focus on the Family.

This particular group promotes banning same-sex couples from marrying, same-sex couples from adopting children, and other homophobic practices and beliefs.

So when a corporation that is blatantly anti-gay opens up in Hollywood, you know there's going to be a clash!

And that's why activists for marriage equality have organized a protest for the new Chick-Fil-A this Saturday, September 24 from 12:00pm-6:00pm.

The protest's event page reads:

Bring your own signs, banners, and flyers to educate the public of the virulently anti-gay policies and donations of this bigoted corporation.

They actively suppress gay rights and the rights of anyone who isn't a Right-wing Christian. A coalition of LGBT people, gay rights organizations, animal rights organizations, and other progressive, fair-minded organizations and people is forming to protest this store making MILLIONS in OUR community for their bigoted "cause."

Come one, come all - and STAND UP FOR JUSTICE, DIGNITY, and EQUALITY!!

It's good to know someone has organized this!

It isn't even an issue of religion here, either. They can stay closed on Sundays.

We understand they're a private company. But they're all over the public streets, and we just don't think it's okay to be anti-gay!!!

Supporting organizations such as Focus on the Family domino effects into such tragedies like the countless suicides and deaths caused by hate (Matthew Shepard, Jamey Rodemeyer, etc.).

These organizations are masquerading themselves as white-picket-fenced happy people who bake pies and love everyone. But in reality, they are enabling violence.

Like the event creator says:

Why? Because they FUND all the hate organizations that create the social campaigns and rhetoric that embolden bullying — Focus on the Family, the American Family Association, etc.

They all work AGAINST efforts to curb anti-gay school bullying campaigns by spending millions against it, claiming it "suppresses their religious free speech."

Well, folks, [the death of Jamey Rodemeyer] is the result of all their "religious free speech." Any small thing I can do to de-fund the hate groups, I'm doing. Raise your voice, save a life.

So, how many people are going to the protest???

Hey dickhead, quit policing peoples thoughts! People have the right not to agree with homosexuality or gay marriage!

  2. 2

Don't agree with them donating to an anti-gay organization…but as my favourite fast food restaurant, I won't stop eating there. ;) Sorry!

Re: Yourajoke420 – This is HIS blog. He has the right to post whatever he wants. Go smoke some more pot and chill out.

  4. 4

chick-fil-a is probably the best fast food restaurant, i don't care what their beliefs are. Perez, as a straight girl who doesn't know how to think about all this "gay" stuff, you really make me anti-gay lol… I think i'll have chick-fil-a this weekend!!!

  5. 5

I am all for rights and free speech however I don't think everyone has to think the same way.(Generally speaking) You can stand up for what you believe in and I can stand up for what I believe in and we can do it in a non-violent way while respecting each others rights and opinions.

  6. 6

why do they have to get all involved in politics…i just want to eat their delicious chicken *sigh*

  7. 7

Perez, some of your readership is so ignorant it blows my mind. and fuck chick-fil-a they're not even open on sundays the christian bastards

A couple of months ago my cousin had told me that Chick-fil-A and Target donated money to Anti-gay organizations, I had no idea! I was soooo Angry, I used to eat Chick-fil-A every now and then, and would shop at Target. I felt so bad,and cheated!!!!!!! And both my cousin and I felt it was our duty not to support them anymore! Iseriously from that day on, shunned anything Chick-Fil-A and Target. I don't eat there or shop there anymore. These people must be so proud of themselves, donating money to groups who support hate, and Bullying people to their deaths. Hateful people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really good for fast food, I know they are not open on Sunday, the founder is a Christian, he has a right to his beliefs (which I do not think are anti-gay) just like Perez does.

Have to have some when I get back from my trip.

  10. 10

They can use their hard earned money to support any organization they want. Maybe they support and back these groups for other reasons. And I am sure they are not founded only to hate gay people. I don't know, I think we people go around and make signs like that to slander someone is the exact same thing as them supporting what they do. Or if someone wants to spend their hard earned money on talking about celebrities. I don't know all seems irrelevant to me.

  11. 11

and this is why more and more people are disliking gays.

I'm sorry, but why isn't it OK to not support gays? I actually AM a big supporter of gay rights, but I also am a big supporter of people being entitled to their own opinions and live their own life. Instead of this bullshit nonsense, like picketing as if you are one of the Westboro clan, just don't eat at their restaurants. No one is forcing anyone to eat at a Chick-fil-a. They were started by a group of religious people and it's not a secret that they even put bible verses on their product. Sorry guys, but free speech goes BOTH WAYS, not just in some biased agenda crap.

  13. 13

Perez, I'm so sorry that you need to resort to fake accounts in an attempt to generate a lot of posts. It looks like your ploy might work since you've added plenty of "anti-Perez" comments from faux posse members. You need to donate your brain to science, PRONTO! You actually may benefit Mankind by showing how a person can create multiple personalities that lavish praise and denigrate their true being at the same time.

Re: Dexterized – Oh honey, I think you have been cheated by being so misinformed. Brands like Target and Chick-fil-a donate money to organizations that primarily do good and have a religious base, but one small part is that they don't support marriage equality. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. That's what makes the world so beautiful and diverse. If everyone agreed on the same thing it would be boring. Stop being so bitter!

  15. 15

Focus on the Family is NOT an anti-gay organization. They are a faith-based family charity and I have never seen or heard anything especially condemning from them, other than what you would expect from a polite conservative perspective. Stop trying to portray everyone who doesn't jump right on board with your views in the most disgusting of lights. There is a big difference between being homophobic and doing what Focus on the Family does.

  16. 16

so what? the owner of chik-fil-a is entitled to his opinion. I'm bankin on the fact that chik-fil-a has awesome food. this won't accomplish anything.

  17. 17

A very small percentage of Target and Chick-fil-A employees are "anti-gay crusaders", so when people go after the entire organization, it reeks of laze and thoughtlessness. You don't change a CEO's mind by picketing the restaurant and ordering it to be shut. You do that and the people who work there, and don't support Marriage Protection acts, lose their jobs.

There have to be more intelligent ways to make people change their minds on social issues than to threaten to destroy them for disagreeing with you. That's the best way to make people without an opinion think you're a bigot yourself.

  18. 18

Two sides: Hooters has the right to hire big boobed women. Chick-Fil-A has the right to donate to causes they agree with. Thinking differently doesn't automatically mean they beat gay people in the streets. HOWEVER, knowing this, I simply will not buy their products. It's the most effective form of exercising MY rights of objection. I won't knowingly support any organization or businesses who donate my proceeds to idiocy. More effective than protesting, IMO.

  19. 19

Has anyone thought about the fact that these store is providing jobs? And that closing the store will put those people out of jobs again? Once we stop thinking about ourselves, I think a lot of problems in this country will be solved.

  20. 20

hope the protest turnout is huge. and for all you uncompassionate idiots who chose to frequent chick-fil-a even after you know of their association with such bigoted hate groups as "focus on the family" hope you enjoy your artery clogging junk food. karma is a bitch.

"How are we going to protest?"…well I, for one, am going to spend as much money as I can afford to spend at Chick-Fil-A from now own. I will support any company or organization that supports Christian values and morals.

  22. 22

Re: ChloGlowRe: ChloGlow – Thanks I will!

  23. 23

Re: AttFinch – first off chick-fil-a is the healthiest fast food restaurant out there. not that that is saying much but still. secondly I'd like to say that I fully support gay marriage and believe everyone is equal, however this protest is just so absolutely ridiculous. Focus on the family is a christian group, there main focus is not to hate gays and Chick-fil-a has the right to do whatever they want with their money. And so do you, if you don't support them then don't eat there, protests like this are a backwards step for gay rights.

  24. 24

Chickfila needs to go! There is no room for that type if bigotry in this society. Make 'em pay where it counts - the pocketbook! BTW, Perez can say whatever he wants and express his opinions. So, yourajoke420, you're the joke since you're the one trying to police thoughts.

  25. 25

the organization focus on the family has absolutely NOTHING to do with teens making their own minds & commiting suicide. they are not in their schools or lives telling them to do so or bullying them. also, christians do not bake pies & pretend everything is happy, they have a belief, just like u do. ppl will never see eye to eye on everything, get over it already.

  26. 26

You totally think that you're the thought police now. Ha. You really don't know how to handle the whole equality thing, do you? BTW, Nestlé have a history of killing babies; I still eat their stuff. :|

  27. 27

I don't agree with what he is doing, but look……the guy & his wife still live in the 2 story house he built over 40 years ago….they still live in the heart of Fayetteville Georgia….house sits on a hill…..right hand side of the road as you go thru Fayetteville..any fast food chain that is not opened on Sunday (like Chick-fil-a) there's got to be something wrong…..what is it???….THE GUY IS A SOUTHERN BAPTIST for the love of God……NEED I SAY MORE….i've always thought that the baptists' were in a cult…any religion that preaches discrimination of ANY KIND is a cult…..feel sorry for the guy…..he doesn't know that he is in a cult…..where the hell is a de-programmer when we need one!!!!

  28. 28

Re: mvvolkin – Very well put! Being pro-traditional family should not be looked upon as a hate crime! And as you Americans are so about free speech, what is wrong with them wanting to promote that? Don't like it? Go eat at KFC!

  29. 29

Re: MH1205 – who said chick-fil-a isn't allowed to do whatever they want with their money? and if you want to support businesses that are bigoted that's your right also. but to say focus on the family's main goal is not to suppress gays all you need to do is to wikipedia them and you will see you are wrong. and if you think 117 calories of fat including 17% being saturated fat in one chicken sandwich is healthy then eat it up.

  30. 30

Re: AttFinch – Chargrilled chicken sandwich: 290 Calories, 4 grams of fat, 3 grams of fiber and 29 grams of protien. That is relatively healthy (nice try picking one of the most unhealthy things as your "example"). I had it for lunch and strangely enough it hasn't provoked any homophobic thoughts/feelings yet. The fact is, the majority of the people in this community are far too sensitive and are not looking for EQUAL rights, they are looking for SPECIAL rights.

  31. 31

And for the record, I think a CHILDREN'S AUTHOR who explains on his website what "they frothy by product of anal sex is" (earlier story) is in NO POSITION to judge or question anyone's value's or morals.

  32. 32

Why is it discrimination to have a personal belief? Discrimination is not hiring or firing people simply because they are gay. I suggest you actually do some real research here, since you are all main stream news now, and see if there are any gays employed by the company. Then we talk discrimination. There's a nice little island off the coast of Florida that would be great for you, where thought is suppressed along with speech.

  33. 33

AND ALSO: those of you who don't like the gays need to not read this website! I really hate ignorant people… I mean really.

  34. 34

My childrens school had a fundraiser at Chick-Fil-A yesterday and I just couldn't get myself to go after all this. I usually support everything my school does. It also doesn't help that they have the worst chicken. Give me Whataburgers chicken anytime over this!!

  35. Coopt says – reply to this

    35

Your little protests won't mean squat and I predict a very pooring showing. They recently opened here in Chicago and the same gang of militants made all sorts of noise about a protest and about a half dozen malcontents showed up for about an hour. That was 3 months ago. Meanwhile, Chick-Fil-A continues to have lines out the door at their downtwon location. Same thing will happen in Hollyweird. And they do have the BEST chicken sandwiches.

  36. 36

    Re: branbxoxo
what would those "SPECIAL" rights be? please list them.
    *
and do you really think the people who are going to some fast food chicken place are looking for the so called healthiest thing on the menu? really? and that so-called "healthy" chargrilled chicken sandwich of yours also contains 1030 mg of Sodium. by the way i did not pick the most unhealthy item on their menu. there are items much worse than the one i mentioned.
    *
what it really comes down to is what type of person would knowingly frequent
an establishment who supports hate filled organizations like focus on the family. oh i forgot, you are.

  37. 37

Keep it consistent and picket In N Out too…
