What a bad message this sends kids who attempt to draw attention to themselves via a suicide.

Hey kids! If you kill yourself you'll get 15 minutes, end up on the national news and have your favorite artist (that doesn't care about you but just pretends they do) dedicate a song about you.

this just goes to show everyone that looks at your site that ou are a serious hypocrite

  3. 3

What's with the sluts showing up at the funeral with hooker boots? don't people have decorum anywhere anymore? You're at a fucking funeral, not a damn nightclub. FFS.

RIP so sorry for your loss. Sad.

  4. 4

If someone will commit suicide for publicity…. does that make ANY sense?? I can't believe how cruel people can be on this site. My heart goes out to Jamey and his family. I've heard people wonder why he didn't fight back. Some people DON'T fight back. Some people wish to always take the high ground. Some of us weren't taught to fight. Some of us like the road of Gandhi.

Re: NookiesWA – I think the message is that the pain of bullying can lead to suicide and the grief and loss is felt by hundreds of people.

Let me guess…Ryan Seacrest sent a camera crew, too.

  7. 7

What a bunch of weak kids.

  8. 8

Re: Meggie246524Re: NookiesWA – I agree with both of you. Yes, there is a strong message about bullying, but Nookies is right too - unfortunately, some depressed kids will see this as the only way to get attention. Very sad. The truth is that some kids will never be noticed in a good way unless they do something really drastic.

  9. 9

You contributed to this with your horrific bullying of people for years.

Re: pie107 – Is Pops still posting on this site? If so, her comments are probably insensitive, crude & rude, as always. You can email Perez at perez@perezhilton.com and request a block of any poster. That's what I did with Pop about a month ago, as I grew tired of her lame trolling, so I never see her comments anymore, because she's blocked when I log in. Just FYI in case you want to do the same.

  14. 14

"Bulling?" The least you could do is learn to spell the cause you're trying to sell.

  15. 15

Re: pie107 – rotfl!! good one, turd!! ;-)

Re: Meggie246524 – good one, mrs. doubtfire!! lol

  17. 17

Re: Meggie246524 – Every now and then Pops comes up with something truly profound. I know there is a smart person behind all the nonsense, I really wish we could see that Pops more often.

  18. 18

Stop making his suicide a public awareness! It was his choice, and this just shows other immature little kids that by committing to something like this, it will bring THEM attention, regardless of the suicide prevention. He was 14! He was immature and didn't know better, because obviously he couldn't handle the reality we ALL live in. Am I justifying for his death and for the bullying crimes? Absolutely not, but bullying will never stop so as long as we live in this culture of extravagant lifestyles and celebrity caricatures.

  19. 19

what is sad and pathetic is famous personalities using this as a platform to make their image look more compelling. bullying has been an issue for years, and is in fact a part of the social structure within schools. that doesn't make it right, it just simply means there needs to be a better support system or community these kids can turn to in order to feel loved, accepted, and safe from harm. using these terrible stories to move along a campaign or garner more album sales is disgusting.

  20. 20

    I agree with Nookie!

  21. 21

seriously all of you fools talking shit about him disgust me.. He was in my preschool class and one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet.. It's people like you who encourage bullying not stop it.. I hope none of you have children or do, because if they get bullied you'll be the parent that says suck it up and never understand.. He was a great young man and may he RIP..

  22. 22

Re: rosebud99 – You're very tolerant, as all I ever saw was a cruel, foul-mouthed bully. Although she probably still trashes me and everyone else who disagrees with her, I'm just happy that I don't have to see her abusive and crude comments anymore.

  23. 23

    Re: NookiesWA – brilliant comment!!

  24. 24

  25. 25

Why are these celebrities that supposedly supported this kid ignoring the obvious. Maybe it's guilt. He had no idea if it gets better or not. So why is he making a psa that not only says it gets better but say's he PROMISED it did. He had no personal evidence of this and he had no business making promises on the subject. Someone had to have been behind it. He has left behind any and all others that believed him. That were counting on it. That were putting up with bullies, holding out for when it gets better. What has he done by making such a promise and then taking his own life. Doesn't that give others little hope. After all, he did promise, right? All I am saying is that by making such statement he had taken on the responsibly of so many others facing this epidemic of bullying. He was responsible to show them it gets better. I wouldn't be surprised if we see an onset of suicides among the young gay community. They followed Jamey in life. Will they now follow him in death too? It doesn't make sense. That's why it makes sense to me that there is someone who encouraged him, possibly even used him to make the psa. And where are they now? My guess is they are hiding under a rock where they should have stayed under before this tragic situation. Am I alone in my thinking? I would love to be wrong. If you have another way of looking at it I welcome, would actually appreciate hearing what it is. Because the way I'm thinking and feeling now is very disturbing.

Re: Meggie246524 – You went through all the effort to have someone formally blocked on this site, or, more likely, lie about doing it? You must a really big asshole, considering you could just not read or disregard a post, "meggie weggie."

  27. 27

    Rip Jamey xoxo

  28. TRC17 says – reply to this

Majority of the people who posted are so gross. everytime i come to this site its the same people posting ignorance..

you guys have no life, which im sure you already know!

  29. 29

This makes me SO SICK.. This little dude was 14.. 14 think about that. He never drove a car, never drank a beer, couldn't enlist.. He was bullied into this. How horrifying. Makes me SO sad.. Bullies are nothing more then weak losers….

  30. 30

But getting back to Jamey - I would just like to say that I know what it is like to have a child that doesn't fit in and as a result hates school. My heart goes out to his parents. My kid stuck it out, and now high school seems so meaningless. So to all the kids and parents out there - it does get better.

  31. 31

Re: yeez – "all the effort"? Sending one email that says, "please block from my view when I log into tyour site" is hardly a major undertaking. It took 20 seconds. My my aren't you an angry little thing. Good luck with that.

  32. 32

    Re: RockChick – excellent post

  33. 33

Hmmm…. Society says you can't punish your child for acting out. It's not good to spank children. So, the dominate child on the playground isn't held accountable for his actions. Remember, we don't want him to feel bad so we don't punish the little 'angel' accordingly. On the other hand, you have the little sissy kid that is taught to whine about life and not take up for himself. We coddle THAT child and insulate him from all that 'hurts' he/she so that never learn how to cope with the stressors of life. Society is to blame for all this bullshit. The weak will fall and there's nothing we can do to prevent it in the short measure. When PARENTS step up and start taking responsibility for raising their own children, then maybe we can begin raising children that can cope with the tremendous pressure of living in today's world.

  34. 34

Re: Meggie246524 – Is it just "Pops" you had blocked or others too? There are plenty of repeat posters who are far more crude and rude. Or does it come down to whether or not you agree with Perez' opinion? I have found my posts repeatedly blocked with no swear words or crude comments. Just disagreeing with Perez. I find it especially interesting when my posts are blocked when I bring facts to back up my posts from other members of the gay community. If this comment gets posted, bets are that it will be pulled within a few hours. So much for freedom of speech.

  35. 35

I think this child was horribly exploited by the "it gets better" campaign. Why allow someone who is not of age to publicly post such a message. It's true that he didn't have the experience of "it gets better" he was used as a poster boy for the homosexual agenda. Poor little boy. God bless you, honey.

  36. 36

Re: MikelJoshuaRe: ShelahRe: pjjackson – agreed with all your posts so true. i'm sorry but someone did push this kid into doing this psa and im sorry but deaths of suicide don't need to be glorified my heart aches for this boy but honestly i don't see why the gay community are so quick to off themselves. if some one calls you gay-well you are gay so why take offense to it? i'm sick of this society where we coddle each other and everyone is saying oh bullying needs to end-newsflash-it'll never end. you can't stop it the only control and thing you can do is control how you react to it, kids who bully are weak but people who take their lives are also weak as well, takes a stronger person to face shit head on instead of running away from their problems. i feel for this boy but at the same time where the fuck were his parent's what were they doing? if they knew the bullying was happening they should've moved him to another school or taught him to throw a punch, i used to be bullied and i used to bully others so i know whats its like on both sides but at some point you got to stick up for yourself and a good tongue lashing/ass beating is sometimes the answer. parents need to teach their kids how to stand up for themselves.

  37. 37

you post like there wasn't a little boy who died. seriously, grow up. and if you're really the one in the picture, you're a fucking whore.

  38. Laura says – reply to this

don't think none of the 500 people in attendance aren't bullies either. im sorry society was so cruel to Jamey that he decided not living was better than being bullied. But those weeps aren't doing anything, the school, counselors, parents, 'friends' of jamey and friends of the bullies, they're still around, do something! make them stop.

  39. 39

Bulling, Mario? Really? How do u expect your site to be halfway credible if you make several grammatical and spelling errors?! Get a better proof-reader!

  40. 40

The ignorance of you people makes me sick. He was a little boy and now he's dead and you have the nerve to make it out to be his fault because he couldn't suck it up and deal with it? And what the fuck is up with saying shit like killing yourself gets your publicity and 15 minutes of fame?… HE'S FUCKING DEAD YOU INSENSITIVE PRICKS, what kind of fame is he living to enjoy? what kind of publicity do you think his family is enjoying? do you think his mother would rather be giving interviews or kissing her son goodnight one more time? . How dare you people accuse him of being a bad role model or sending a terrible message to other young teens… he was focusing all of his energy on trying to escape the pain of ostracized and relentlessly bullied. I can guarantee you that being a proper role model was the last thing on this poor kids mind. So fuck off with the nasty comments and let his family mourn his memory without hateful people like you dragging an innocent 14 year old boy's name and intentions through the mud. A child is dead, a mother will never get to hold her son again because a group of kids were uncomfortable with him being gay. This was a hate crime and this needs to stop.

  41. 41

Re: Shelah – I couldn't agree with you more. Parents need to teach their kids not to worry what others think of them. I was unpopular, no one liked me, everyone made fun of me, but mom told me not to worry what people who were not my friends think. It's not important. All the parents do now is whine with their kids and say "Oh poor baby." instead of instilling some fucking self-esteem into them. As for physical bullying- how about we go back to the dad of the victim kicking the dad of the bully's ass? If parents were actually held accountable for their demon spawn's behavior, I guarantee it would stop!

  42. 42

I think rude comments concerning this sad situation should be deleted. This kid was 14 for god's sake. That can be a really difficult age with fitting in and such, he probably felt there was something wrong with him and that is so incredibly sad. Of course it is going to be VERY difficult to pass bullying as a hate crime, since there is a very fine line. I think Gaga is trying to make happen is if a kid is being bullied, and there are witnesses and it is reported, I think the bully should deal with consequences. She stresses equality and acceptance of those who are different. Why is that such a problem for some people?

  43. 43

Re: Amy3000 – Could not agree more.

  44. 44

Re: Meggie246524 – You're a prude…grow some balls if you're going to read the bullshit on Perez!!!!

  45. 45

What a weak message this little "monster" (Perez's words, not mine!) sends to so many: If you're gay, don't defend yourself….kill yourself instead, yeah! What a weak ass and so are his parents. Did they enjoy the limelight at his funeral? What a waste…geez.

  46. 46

Re: RockChick – Nope. He was the weak loser. Bullies are only as strong as you let them be.

  47. 47

Re: Amy3000 – It's not a hate crime when you kill yourself, unfortunately. Sad, but true.

  48. 48

Re: Amy3000 – THAT is exactly the kind of mentality that I'm talking about. Stop your whining!

  49. 49

Re: POPSCIDICTATOR – turd….REALLY!!! You just proved my point

  50. 50

His parentsneed to be locked up for not helping him with his mental illness.

It doesnt get better people, ( unlike attention whore, publicity crazed, asshole, lying , pretentious celebs) try to tell you

  51. 51

If people cared about this kid , they would be pushing a mental illness awareness campaing instead of a a gay/bullying agenda.

But, these Ahole celebs dont really care about people, just their agenda

  52. 52

Your illiteracy is disrespectful to the memory of this boy. How awkward can you make a title? "Hundreds Attend 14-Year-old Who Committed Suicide, Jamey Rodemeyer's Funeral" should be "Hundreds attend the funeral of Jamey Rodemeyer, the 14 year old who committed suicide". Moron.

  53. 53

    Re: Lopez Hyatt

Anybody concerned with proper english on the interwebs is completely useless in the real world ( scientifically proven fact). Spelling police = useless to society You'll top out with a job at starbucs, honey. Good luck trying to pay back that student loan

  54. 54

Re: supandrea – As in repeal freedom of speech? Are you going to be the person who decides what is rude or not? Please provide commentators with guidelines as to what is acceptable. I officially put you in charge. Please tell us exactly what we can and cannot say regarding this post. -Yours Truly, Big Brother

  55. 55

i caught holy hell growing up. i'm gay and from a small mormon town. i never felt the need to commit suicide, and i think its sad that so many kids today are doing this…especially since it is more socially accepted than ever. i am glad that the awareness is being raised currently. for the people who claim kids will do it for attention, you may be right, but don't assume every single one will. that just makes you an asshole.

  56. 56

Re: Amy3000 – "you people". Are you showing your superiority here? If so, you're doing a poor job. This death is tragic. It can be polarizing in opinions and feelings. Not everyone is going to agree with you. Say your prayers for Jamey. Finito.

  57. 57

what an idiot you are, you think that yeah I'll reveal in this fame when I'm dead if I kill myself. Duh, guess I gotta kill myself now so I'll have celebrities mourn me and write songs about me, that's what it's all about. Think about it. Kids don't commit suicide to draw attention to themselves, it's to escape from a world that prosecutes them for being who they are or are not.

  58. 58

    reject! NookiesWA.

  59. 59

People are way too sensitive. Man the fuck up.

  60. 60

C'mon now. "RIP sweet little monster" is so inappropriate..

  61. 61

And by inappropriate I mean it's fucking condescending. The reality is his tombstone is going to say Jamey Rodemeyer.. not little monster.. and if it DID .. that would be so sad

  62. 62

Re: micha66 – and wow you don't know much about suicide do you! people kill themselves for vanity, and attention to some suicide is glamorous.. i guess that's just impossible for you to comprehend, obviously! dumbass!

  63. 63

I was bullied the first year of high school because I was from another country, I used to defend myself verbaly and I noticed nobody in the school helped me (except one boy… he was the most beautiful boy I ever seen and will remember forever haha) but not even the directors, secretaries, etc. from school helped, they were just looking…. so I grew tired of the indiference and I told my parents I wanted to change school for the above reasons. They understood and that was it, I went to a new school and things were great!. So……… honestly……….. why was this boy being bullied and STILL going to the same school!!??. And why cant they just change school instead being so whiny, hiding themselves from their parents… FACE IT, and if they dont leave you in peace just CHANGE school!.

  64. 64

this is ridiculous. and what gaga has to do with this?? did she went to his funeral????no so who cares about her. and about her new album being for free!! thats the most desperate thing i ever heard..shes no worried about the fans she just wants to see how many fans she has… this will never give her the right numbers,..everybody can get a free cd. but real fans buy it no matter what. her last album is a major flop as we all know… dear ur losing fans day after day and what u did to get attention with this kids case was very sad.ur a desperate woman. give the money u stole from japan charity and stop paying to the press to promote u like u did to rolling sto magazine….

ur using this kid name saying he was a little monster.i never heard him saying that.ur the biggest fraud ever,i feel sorry for him but i dont care about u LOSER GAGA

  65. 65

I don't think the fact he was gay is important; a 14 year old child killed himself because he couldn't cope with the way others were treating him, and anyone who claims he did it for attention is as disgusting as the bullies who drove him to take his own life.
Re: NookiesWA – You're an idiot… Why would anyone kill themselves for attention when they wouldn't have the opportunity to revel in it?

  66. 66

  67. 67

Re: NookiesWA – First off not suprised you're first.. Second, I don't think people actually end their lives for 15 minutes of fame. It might make a nice fantasy(? i dunno) but I think to actually kill yourself, and know you won't be around for your 15 minutes of fame. No there's kind of a flaw in that one. Face it Nookies, this kid killed himself because some people in the world are unusually cruel to gay people. So maybe there isn't much you can say under this post.

  68. 68

Yet Lady Gaga wasn't there. Isn't she suppose to be his other mother, since she's Mother Prick?

Anyway, Rest In Peace to that kid. Though he didn't have to kill himself and it was a total choice, could have been avoided and could have easily talked to someone, a friend or whatever. Or talk to his friends online.

  69. 69

I am heartbroken. This is about Jamey, not Lady Gaga. Stop making it about Lady Gaga.

  70. 70

Re: supandrea – I wasn't like that at 14 years old speak for yourself and Jamey. I didn't give a fuck what anyone thought of me I dressed the way I wanted could care less about fitting in or wearing the in clothes. I had bullies too but if they said shit to me they know they will get shoved into a wall or punched every time. I'm sure I had it worse than Jamey, but I put my fucking foot down every time and they stopped. Jamey should have put his foot down fought a little bit than he wouldn't have dealt with bullies anymore.
Jamey said it himself, "What will I do to get everyone to listen to me?" He did this for attention.

  71. 71

Just read he was cyber bullied, tsk tsk, he killed himself over cyber bullying?!! Let me keep my words to myself. But what I can say is, his suicide most definitely could have been avoided.

  72. 72

The fact we are glorifying this makes me disgusted. Anyone with even a basic understanding of psychology knows that holding memorials and paying special tribute to people who have committed suicide is very (very!) likely to get a response of other young people to follow suit, and you wonder why there are so many suicides now. Most of those people went to that funeral for the attention and to call this families tragedy and this child's pain their own. A perfect example is a comment on here saying "I went to preschool with him…" If all of those people cared for him as much in life as they do in death, he would not be dead. Everyone of those people at that funeral who are acting like they care really dropped the ball and if they are being honest with themselves, none of them give a shit.

  73. 73

"R.I.P sweet little monster." "…her fallen fan". OH PLEASE!

  74. 74

Re: Meggie246524 – Thanks for that, I've been clicking on the abuse button recently but not sure if it does any good. I shall ask Perez to block 3 of the main Gaga trolls who are pissing me off with their disgusting comments. By the way, PD is still replying to your comments, even though you can't see her, ROFL! 13 or 14 sounds about right to me. RIP Jamey.

  75. 75

Re: CookiexNinja – Sigh, Jamey was a big Gaga fan, that is why she did the tribute to him and plans to do even more to campaign about bullying, get your facts right, idiot!

  76. 76

Re: maverick88 – 7 million copies sold worldwide is a flop? I shudder to think what that says about Bionic and Femme Fatale ;o)

  77. 77

Re: NookiesWA – What a stupis comment to make!! Not the fact the artist is supporting a cause as a 14 year old killed himself for being bullied because of Sexual orientation? … Yeah its only worth 15mins of Fame … Get a life

  78. china says – reply to this

interesting how all over sudden the death of a child is all about caca. tranny to the rescue obviously doesn`t work, so a funeral is better than nothing?

  79. Mtl23 says – reply to this

This is why people should listen to their children. I would have pulled him out of that school and sent him to a new one or home schooled if he was being bullied so much and the teachers didnt listen. This is just to bad.

  80. 80

Truth is… Re: NookiesWA – is right, there are many trouble kids (not just LBGT) who are in pain, feel isolated and alone and hated. They believe they will die anyway and dying being known is a good option vs dying being unknown. All around it is sad… and an act of total desperation

IMO if your kid or someone you know well enough to mourn is in pain, put your hand physicially on their shoulder and don't let go. I am so tired of the "if only, we cared", here Mario and Gaga are (as well as TV, and Movie Stars) encouraging strength and video posting of "it gets better". It is a good message, and may be true for many, but for some child to publically state this without any actual support is risky. Desire for the message to be true can produce a video, but without anything changing in their life it has to be devastating. I hope people don't forget to treat the child suffering rather than just focus on punishing a bully.

  81. 81

    Re: AshleyDuh – Preach…

  82. 82

Re: MVPnis – I couldn't agree with you more!!! Everyone is focusing on bullying and being gay when the real problem is and always will be mental illness and depression. Everyone gets their share of bullying, but only the ones that aren't well kill themselves. AND he told his parents he wanted to kill himself on other occasions and they didn't do enough to prevent this.

  83. 83

RIP Jamey. I wonder if the kids that bullied him also attended with their parents. I wouldn't be surprised. They need to find out who they are & make them pay. Of course, let's all be honest. Bullying has been around for centuries. It will never go away. Kids nowadays need to learn to just have thick skin & realize that bullies are usually nothing more than pathetic cowards. You never see one bully by themselves because they are weak. Just get one alone and that will probably be the end of the bullying. Take it from someone that was bullied a bit as a youngster. My parents told me to stay strong and take a stand. Get one by themselves and slap them. Did it, done it and that was the end of it.

  84. 84

Re: pjjackson – I think they are all indirectly behind it… I mentioned the same in my comment. Successful celebs are able to say it gets better because for them it did. For a 14 yr old alone in a struggle to post it was a hopeful projection, and nothing actual happened to make it so.

  85. 85

    Evil manipulates through good deeds.

  86. 86

Re: MVPnis – Good luck to YOU if you're trying to find a job when you have atrocious spelling and grammar errors. Employers have so many applicants that they aren't even going to bother with someone who makes those kinds of errors on their cover letters and resumes. You're a complete moron. And no, I don't work at Starbucks. I'm the AVP of Finance at a major Market Research firm.

  87. 87

When people judge and criticize you, just remember it says nothing about you and everything about them. RIP Jamey.

  88. 88

Most teenagers are so mentally immature, they don't realize that once you are dead you are in fact dead and there's no enjoying the attention you are going to receive after you kill yourself.

With that said I think there is not a single person who can say they didn't deal with bullying to some degree, and the fact is the vast vast majority don't kill themselves.

People who commit suicide obviously have mental illness going on and aren't receiving care for that. I think recognizing and treating mental illness should be a bigger priority than talking about bullying.

  89. 89

NO, parents SHOULDN'T teach thier kids NOT TO CARE what other people think. PEOPLE SHOULD CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK, IT'S CALLED HAVNG FUCKING DECENCY. The kids who bullied this kid are th ones who didn't care what people thought and they drove a kid to kill himself. Who was the decent person in all this? right, the one who died, so this could only mean one thing, that decency is dying. And PLEASE STOP CALLING KIDS, ESPECIALLY DEAD KIDS "LITTLE MONSTERS'. WTF IS UP WITH OUR SOCIETY?

  90. 90

    Re: GayRay – Hahahaha!!

  91. 91

This kid killed himself because of the it gets better campaign. His video got attention, and after seeing all those other gay boys kill themselves and get press he did too. We're giving these depressed people a spotlight and a stage, and we might as well be handing them the cyanide and sleeping pills or whatever. DON'T KILL YOURSELF KIDS! IF YOU'RE SAD CALL A HOTLINE OR JUST TALK TO SOMEBODY. KILLING YOURSELF WON'T MAKE IT BETTER

  92. 92

Re: WhyCantILeaveComments – People have done it before. After the Columbine shootings there were many copycats. It is believed that some celebrities have done it for legendary status. It is a form of mental illness to some people. Some people find becoming legendary worth more than being alive.

  93. 93

While I find this a devastating loss for this young kid's family, really, the SIGNS WERE IN RED……. what the hell is wrong with everyone around this child who loved him? HELLOOOOOOO…. a cry for help means DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Apparently, not enough was done.

Re: Geat real – I agree with you and have posted similar comments. Kids aren't just bullied over being gay. They are bullied for being short, weird looking, having a big nose, bad acne, having a lisp, being overweight, having an A cup…the list goes on and on. I was bullied over being multi-racial. I was not accepted by blacks or whites, especially since my adoptive parents were white. My parents taught me to fight back, not with violence but by actions and pointing out how weak bullies really are.

Committing suicide should not be publicised or glorified. It is an act of ultimate selfishness. I can't imagine how much pain his family is in right now.
