Tyrese Kicked Out Of Delaware Radio Station For Condemning Liquor Near Schools

Tyrese Delaware Radio Station Alcohol Liquor School Education Free Speech

Last we heard of singer/actor Tyrese, he was rumored to be dating Whitney Houston.

But now he's found himself in the headlines once again for standing up for children's safety in a Delaware radio station.

Here's what happened…

Tyrese went into WBJR KISS 101.7 for an interview.

During his air time, however, Tyrese commented on seeing a liquor store near a school on his way to the station.

He then made a sincere plea to hear him out regarding the issue, stating:

Get them cats out of here, selling alcohol right across from your kids school, homie, put the pressure on them homie, you know how to put pressure on dudes selling in your hood.

Sounds reasonable enough, right? It's not like he was bashing the entire community. He was just bringing attention to a potentially harmful situation involving minors and their education.

But the management of the radio station felt differently…

During a commercial break, they asked him to leave the building, because the owner felt he was "disrespecting" the community.

After being kicked outt, Tyrese tweeted:

I just kicked out of a radio station from a PD (program director) who had a problem w/ me speaking on liquor stores that are by elementary schools in Delaware.

In 17 years I have NEVER been kicked out of a radio station.. Because I have a problem w/ liquor stores being across from elementary schools?

I was also told that the PD made them ERASE my interview so that NO ONE could HEAR me SPEAK on the issue of the liquor stores near kids..

If you don't STAND for something.. You will damn near fall for Anything..

We agree with you, Tyrese! The owner sounds a little too uptight for our liking!!

They would have looked SO much better if they had just let you speak your peace, and THEN given their opinions.

Or better yet, they could actually consider your opinion and use it to make Delaware an even better community!

But unfortunately, pride once again gets in the way of progress…

Delaware is a perfectly fine community. We are rarely in the news for anything bad unlike California. That's how Delaware is, if we feel like you are disrespecting us, back the eff off.

I'm sure those elementary school kids are gonna be able to buy a handle of vodka at that liquor store and toss it back at recess.

FFS you stupid twat, there's nothing wrong with Delaware. Once I managed to wade through the ebonics of Tyrese, I was at a loss as to understand WTF he was babbling about. Is this liquor store selling booze to the elementary school kids? Is your next stand going to be against grocery stores near schools because they sell BEER? Tell Tyrese to get back to the HOOD so he can deal with the "homies" there; the asshole has no business making comments on what goes on in Delaware. I swear to god Perez you have to be the dumbest ass on the planet agreeing this this Tyrese idiot.

Delaware was made a much nicer community recently, Tom Capano died :)

Yawn… Tyrese needs to get back in a Fast & Furious movie.

Are you really so stupid that you cannot read for comprehension? "put the pressure on them homie, you know how to put pressure on dudes selling in your hood." Sure sounds like an solicitation to violence to me.

Re: raypearson – Wow… you're being sarcastic, right?

oh seriously people what is wrong with you? i live in delaware. have for well over 10 years and i am not insulted that the guy doesn't think liquor stores should be by schools. grow up. how is that disrespecting? if you had a brain and you thought about it, there are a lot of issues with that type of situation. no one said that the liquor store was selling to kids. but i know that i have seen liquor stores ,in delaware mind you, where homeless of age adults and even shady alcoholics looking for a quick buck will hang outside and have no issues going in and buying liquor for underage kids. i'm sure this is not limited to delaware and it's not saying delaware is bad place to live. but if school areas are considered to be "drug-free zones" why would you put a liquor store right there in front of a school when alcohol is considered to be a drug? and besides that what's so wrong with him saying he doesn't think it's right? and by the way, you put drunks going to the liquor store and school children walking, in buses, and in cars all in the same area, and that's not a great combo.

    Re: Angie01Re: Angie01
ok so when did a state become a community?? and if one person's death made this "community" better then it wasn't a great one to begin with. that was just a really stupid comment.

    Re: La Garse
and you must not be from delaware i gather since we don't sell liquor in grocery stores in this state. he never said there was anything wrong with delaware. did you actually listen to the interview or his comments afterwards? not once did he condemn this state you stupid moron.

First of all..I'm all for sticking up for the children…this is not just in Delaware but all over. We have more liquor store around schools and poor areas than shelters for the homeless. So sad how people like to focus on where they live and not the problem! Delaware is not perfect and there was no attack on the city. He was simply stating what should not be…no matter how he stated it. Shame on all of you for not seeing the real problem! Get the DAMN Liquor Stores away from the kids!

  12. 12

He is 100% correct, these stores should not be near schools.
    It is pretty terrible.

    Re: WTFREally?

I was paraphrasing Perez you dumbass!

  14. 14

The PD probably has some deals with local liqour places..you know like sponsors and stuff like that or maybe he himself owned one. I totally agree with Tyrese, and it doesn't matter how he said it what matters is he took a stand!!

  15. 15

I agree with Tyrese, a liquor store across the street from an elementary school is distasteful, and the radio station is lame from blocking him from being heard. His statement in no way disrespects the community, and I have heard FAR worse being said and played on the radio air waves…!

Re: WTFREally? – I agree with you! these people are being simple minded and only thinking one way and only looking at the issue of the liquor being sold to kids, but they fail to realize the type of business that liquor stores bring- Liquor stores are a common grounds for ADULTS who buy and consume liquor, and there is no safeguarding to keep pedophiles, alcohol abusers, violent offenders and other less then desirable influences from coming to the liquor store and having interactions with the children, if lets say the kids go over there for some flamming hot cheetos and a pack of gum. People need to stop thinking so literally, go hang out at a corner liquor store for a day and tell me what type of riff raff trolls through. Not human beings i'd necessarily want my children interacting with.

Re: Angie01 – No you weren't, you said Delaware was better because a man died….where does Perez even mention this man? How are you paraphrasing him, You are the dumb ass.You don't even remember the bullshit you type…!
