She is just too lovely!

We couldn't be more thrilled that she's speaking out against such an important issue!

Nicola Roberts is the latest star to take a stand against the ever-growing problem with bullying around the world, and is eager to meet with education officials in the U.K. to address the issue!

She explains:

"It's so out of control. Society is very quick to judge these days. One of the good things about Twitter, is it sort of highlights the severity of the problem. Constantly, I've found with tweets, talking about people's personal situations, whether it's at school, being scared to go to school, people being scared to go to work even, people in the workplace. It really angers me and I don't like to think there are people out there that really feel not great about themselves. I don't think anybody is in a position to make somebody else feel that way about themselves, it really annoys me. It's about ego and position. I would really just say (to victims) you have to turn it around and you can't admire the people who are able to say nasty things so frivolously. It's not admirable. Effectively you are the nicer person and you should hold on to that. In schools now it's so out of control, I'd really like to speak to somebody. There needs to be more of a support system. I get tweets every day: 'I'm terrified to go to school'. You're helpless, it's really hard."

Agreed 100%, gurl!

And we especially appreciate that not only are you using your platform to bring attention to it, but also putting some of your own personal experiences with being taunted and ridiculed into some of your song lyrics!

Sticks + Stones, in particular, is so, so powerful, and we imagine a lot of individuals can relate to what you've been through!

The time to end bullying is NOW! And we appreciate your help in the effort!

Team GINGE!

Gimme a break! Kids are too soft and coddled these days. Everyone gets or has been bullied at some time or point in their life. Suck it up and move on. The world is breeding wimps!

I get it. It's a great thing. But while innocent people in the world of suffering, and being tortured, and violated, all of these celebrites are just getting on the anti bullying bandwagon, and they're probably doing it to look better. Nice gesture, but there are worse things happening in this country at this very moment.

Perez - you are the biggest internet Bully of them all.

Re: Rohan – Your attitude is exactly the problem … you don't understand that there's a problem. There are laws against bullying/harassment/abuse in the workplace and if you violate those, you can be disciplined/fired or legally charged. Why do you think children should be exempt from these laws/policies at school … do you think that just because they're kids it's okay for them to be abused, assaulted and bullied in their 'workplace'? Being bullied is not a right of passage … it's allowing minors to either be cruel to another or allowing minors to be victims of a form of assault. It's so sad that you don't understand this because that's the kind of perspective that continues to perpetuate violence - you're just turning a blind eye to it.

Re: Meggie246524 – Meggie, so you want children to be subject to the same discipline as adults? Why not the death penalty if they're deemed to be a bad seed? With all of the genetic testing these days, sooner than you think, breeding will not be random and the creation of a master race will be the objective. Think that this only happened in Germany under Hitler? No…just take a look at Sparta. Who were some of the first sent to German concentration camps? Homosexuals. History repeats itself and survival of the fittest is based in Darwinism. Laws against the basic evils that lurk in human beings cannot be controlled by laws. Murders, theft and myriad other laws are broken by the millions every day all over the world. Is Singapore your ideal? 20 lashes for spitting gum? Do you really want to live in a country where your every move is subject to scrutiny and litigation? Viva la Attorneys! What if you had a child and they were unjustly accused of bullying? What if the bullies turned the tables and started playing victim to bullying? You CANNOT regulate human behavior and expect children to behave like adults.

Re: Rohan – And male children are being punished for masculine behavior. Act up in class? Punishment is sitting still through recess and lunch breaks. No punishment by making them run laps, do push up or other physical activities to work off the testosterone high. When I was growing up, male or female, we were punished by physical activity. Much more effective. But I'm guessing that teachers can't do that any more for fear of being accused by the parent(s) for cruel and unusual punishment to their children. More litigation! Viva la Victim Mentality! Viva la Attorneys!

Re: Rohan – it seems to me the people who call kids whimps are or were the cool kids and so wouldn't understand. When I was growing up you steered away from the bullies. Nowadays, friends, sometimes even best friends take a shot at bullingly each other.

Re: Meggie246524 – I don't want to come off sounding dumb but I guess I will so here goes. How are adults bullied at work? How does that happen?

Re: be strong – Not a dumb question at all … it can come in the same form that it does in the schoolyard, ie: from superiors and from co-workers who, ie: make jokes/take shots at the about some Muslim employees who request time for prayer throughout the day; ditto for some Asian employees who bring different foods for lunch (I've heard, "GOD their effing food stinks - why can't they just bring a !@$# sandwich like everyone else!); gay employees who bring their partner to work parties get snickered to their face & behind their backs, etc. There are blogs for just about every major company where employees bash other employees (I recall one where the employee falsely wrote that one of their colleagues "blows goats" and loved kiddie porn just to humiliate the other employee), etc. It happens in the workplace too; not just the school yard. The difference is that hopefully adults have acquired better coping skills than school kids due to life experience, and that there are laws and workplace anti-harassment policies in place (including training, in good companies) that aim to prevent it. "Health & Safety" laws also speak not just to the physical work environment, but to behavioral standards as well.

Re: Meggie246 here 524 – I guess I really am dumb because I never knew that adults, I'm talking grown people here, could behave so abysmally. It is absolutely no one's business what people enjoy eating for lunch or how they wish to worship. No wonder kids are such bullies. They learned from the masters-their own parents.

Re: poodlewithamohawk – No, but you can teach children compassion, tolerance and how to be decent human beings.

The pussification of American boys continues…

Stumbled on hollywire . com - So much better than this ad-orama-land-every-other-entry-is-a-link-to-my-other-sites bullshit.

Re: poodlewithamohawk – Maybe one day we can have selective breeding, and then eradicate all the weakest links..IE gays, pansies that get bullied, etc.

    Re: Meggie246524

I value your opinion but in mine, this is further proof that ys bullying stinks and to another poster here not all of us who say what i am about are the cool kids, i was jumped by gangs (not in one) and picked on all through middle and high school, but despite the fact bullying stinks and i wish it didnt exist, it does and will continue to exist as you pointed out with the adult aspect of your post. So we cannot just build a pillow around our kids protecting them from all harm. assault is different, adult or child i have no problem authorities being brought it, but teasing and what not well as bad as it is the kid needs to grow tougher from this. life is tough and they need to know sadness, loss, rejection, failure, dealing with the arseholes in life. work has laws against that from what i understand dealing with authoritative figures that can prevent someones career advancement. if its a equal than they are fire. (excluding assault type situation than the legal system should be involved.)

Re: be strong – no thats not true i was picked on for everything from my cloths (i was poor and couldnt afford the trendy cloths) my freckles, red hair, i was jumped by gangs twice ( not in one, just wanted to pick on me in gym class) and random other times for stuff i can't even remember by the "cool" kids. i survived, and i am stronger now for all that. its because of triumping over these things as a kid i could handle losing my job at 23 do to layoffs, my mom dying of cancer at 30, my cousin committing suicide, and in generally just dealing with alot of the crap life throws at you. i think bullies are insecure arsholes, i wish they didnt exist, i use to day dream of beating up the bully etc. (not killing) but to try an eliminate bullying through legal means or whatever is doing a disservice to our youth. we have to let them fall down and scrape their knee, to have their heart broken, too loose their big games, to experience these things in their youth so as good parents we can be there for them teach them and let them know its ok and life goes on…so later on their own they can handle and triumph themselves over lifes hardships. without it they wont be able to handle anything that is sunshine and lollipops.
