What the world has against him is that he has a criminal record. In Canada, unlike the US, we don't let celebrities break the rules just because they're celebrities.

  2. 2

i was suppose to be there to see his sexy self!!!

Re: Jthemac – Mario is gay and likes Katey and she is Married to Russel which makes you and Canada Homophobic. Oh damn I was sarcastic to Mario. Now Im homophobic

  4. 4

You can't getinto Canada if you've have a drug or alcohol offenses ever. They never seen to go away either. Damn canucks need to lighted up.

  5. 5

Re: Jthemac – He could've got in if his "people" had completed the paperwork and requested a waiver (as Bush needed to do to attend the summit in Canada due to his past DUI - he was granted admission). Either Russell's team didn't do the required paperwork, or it was denied due to his extensive criminal record. Good for Canada not being blinded to celebrity status and bending the laws because of someone's fame.

    Re: Jthemac – well said

they better figure it out by october 15th because thats when im seeing him in calgary!

Mario, give it up, It's RUSSELL'S FAULT. Just because the U.S. lets anyone come into here…. doesn't mean other countries have to do the same thing. Canada does not let people in with felonies, drug records, well known. Before BOOKING THESE VENUES, he/his people should have seen that he and everyone involved could get into the country. Maybe if we, the U.S. were a little more selective, like not letting those convicted of certain crimes in, illegals in, and a little better all around with the screening, maybe crime would be down a bit, and the fear of terrorists would not be so high

Actually he was not denied entry to Canada. He was joking. He had plane problems and never left L.A. Google it if you don't believe.

  10. 10

Apparently you can't get into Canada or Japan with a criminal record. I had no clue that happened. No loss there anyways…

Russell Brand is British and as a British citizen he would be, unless legal troubles stood in the way, warmly waived through as a citizen of the Commonwealth to which both GB and Canada belong. Either as already suggested, he had plane trouble or a criminal record, or someone or something else got in the way. If anything, his tour managers would be taking care of any details.

    Re: subtexty

So we have 2 possibilities here …

    1. He was denied entry due to his criminal record and failure to request a waiver
    2. He was joking because he had private plane trouble in LA

… but only one conclusion: Either way, he's a tool.

  13. 13

I am sorry they let him into the US.

  14. 14

Re: rickraton – Agreed! After he showed up on MTV wearing a turban on his head the day after 9-11, he should have lost all privileges for coming to the US.

  15. 15

He got in trouble and therefore he has to pay….period…I am sick of him and his complaining…His better looking and more famous wife needs to dump his inferior arse.

  16. 16

He wasnt denied entry, his plane never left Calif. He wanted to land in Orillia, which does not have an international airport. Show is postponed, not cancelled.

  17. 17

Re: jellsffs – So essentially then, his lie badmouthed Canada to the entire world for no reason whatsoever. Right, got it. My guess is he'll be even more despised than he is already.

  18. 18

Denied entry to Canada …. also denied entry to US back in April 2008. Man has some issues - his staff should obliviously look after whatever his problem is

  19. 19

    I never liked him.

  20. 20

Kudos to Canada for taking a firm stand on denying entry by criminals. Too bad the US doesnt have the cajones to do the same.

  21. @v@ says – reply to this

What's the official reason for denial of entry? There usually IS one. It's not an 'eenie, meenie, miney moe' kind of decision.

  22. 22

I love Russell Brand and am so glad that he sorted himself out, however, it is pretty damn clear why he isn't allowed. Major skeletons. Drug addict, drug smuggling, indecent exposure…. The list goes on.

His managment really should sort themselves out though and stop booking him for places before checking he can get into the country.

  23. 23

Re: justtfax – Wrong, US refuses entry to anyone with a criminal charge, especially a drug charge.

  24. 24

Has it never occured to this idiot to check the laws before showing up???

  25. 25

denying entry of people with criminal records? poor people, you can make mistake once and there goes your travel. what about local people with criminal records? do they get deported? hehe))

  26. 26

Re: Meggie246524 – ye if this is true i agree

  27. 27

CBC news reports engine problems. Both the USA and Canada should grant pardons more readily. Prior criminal records can be for anything. I liked the article Brand wrote on the London Riots. The USA had a complete travel ban on anyone with HIV entering the country until 2 years ago. Criminals? Terrorists? That sounds extreme.

  28. 28

He was having plane problems, he was kidding.
To those people who think Canadians need to "lighten up" need to be reminded that entering a foreign country is a privilege- not a right. If you don't like the country's rules then I suggest you travel elsewhere.

  29. 29

    Re: Meggie246524
    exactly right

  30. 30

WOW! One tweet by Russell and he insults an entire Country! What a Liar he is. If he really wanted to fly up to Canada to perform, he would have flown his dinky plane to Toronto, clear customs, and then take off again to Orillia. His lack of respect should be what should have made the news….

  31. 31

i can't wait for this chit to be happening to Lindsey Lohan

  32. 32

Re: ncposse – Not even correct even a little bit.. Look at all the musicians
( Amy W for one ) RIP who had a record and the US let her in. The US lets just about anyone in except if your on the Homeland list..

  33. 33

YAY we dont want that shat up here!
Funny how the US idolizes IDIOTS!

  34. 34

    canada's loss…he is Too cool for them…really.

  35. 35

It's a fake story. Didn't happen. He was allowed in. He planted it for publicity.
