Joel Osteen Continues To Think Gays Are Sinners

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayPiers MorganLGBT

Wow, seriously?? It's 2011, people! Come on!!

Pastor Joel Osteen was on the Piers Morgan show and it looks like his views on homosexuality and gay marriage still haven't changed a bit since his last appearance on the show back in January.

Joel says that he believes in "the scripture" and that no matter what, it will not change. Well, maybe it's time to stop believing in antiquated theories and be in the present. Just a thought.

To see what else Joel had to say, watch above.

So I wonder if he just hates us as a whole, or just the butt sechs lmao!

  2. 2

LOOK AT ME IM JOOOOOOEL OSTEEEEN YEAHHH!!!!! GIVE ME YOUR MONEY!!!!! Nevermind I have all of Houston by the balls.

  3. 3

gays are bad. but lesbians are cool

  4. 4

This guy is such a fake.

  5. 5

Scripture won't change because God doesn't change.

  6. 6

Another pastor who cherry picks the scriptures of the bible that he decides to follow - how digusting & unGodly!

  7. 7

He makes a lot of money by preaching that way, charging by the seat.

  8. 8

The Bible is pretty clear on this. There are many people who follow the strict interpretation of the Bible, not just on this point. There's no swaying them.

  9. 9

Re: bbqlewis62 – AGREED! the scripture doesn't bend or sway to anyone's will or what anyone wants to say. There are several versus in the Bible that discuss the sin of homosexuality so I don't think this is cherry picking. If you call yourself a Christian, the holy book upon which this religion is established forsakes homosexuality. So this man who fancies himself a Christian is, within his beliefs, stating what he holds to be true and I don't see anything wrong with someone staying their ground and holding onto their beliefs. However, nowhere in the Bible does it say that crude hate crimes and murder of homosexuals by Christians or people who don't like them is ok, so that is where the line needs to be drawn. Not agreeing with, liking or even condoning another persons life-style doesn't entail murdering, harming or hating that person! I think one can hold onto their Christian values while still being tolerant and loving of all people.

  10. 10

What does the year have to do with this at all?! Just because society is becoming more comfortable with homosexuality does not mean that Christians should just all of a sudden forget what the bible teaches and bend to societal trends. It bothers me so much that you want acceptance for the gay community, yet you are not accepting of people who believe homosexuality is a sin. Are we not allowed to think and do as we please? Do you realize you chastise Christians for doing the same thing you are against? You are blatantly saying what Joel thinks is wrong. Who are you to judge? I believe homosexuality is a sin for me, but I do not judge others. I feel that that is for God to do. I love my gay friends and I love my straight friends whom also sin in other ways. I am not their maker; I am not the one at the gates of heaven. I am a sinner myself and that is what I believe. I do not like that I have come on your site for years and you are all of a sudden all about gay rights and being an advocate for homosexuality. How about focusing on human rights? There is no such thing as a gay person or straight person. We are all people and we make different choices. What bothers me is the segregation you create by trying to force people to accept homosexuality.

So I wonder if he eats shellfish cause the bible says it's an abomination…This guy is preaching all the way to the bank…

    Mark 10:25
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
    Luke 6:30
“Give to everyone that asketh thee; and from him that taketh away thy goods ask not again.”
Christians seem to think children that are dying and suffering from hunger are not asking for help. But hey, you can interpret the bible any way you want and fool the millions in following you so that you live the good life.
Joel Osteen and his followers seem to think there is a greater need for nice suits, jewelry and big screen monitors. Lets all praise Joel Osteen and try to be like his followers. Such Godly people. Go ahead and climb into your cars, don’t forget your mobile phones, and drive to church. Starving and homeless children wouldn’t want to eat or have clean water if it meant you had to give up some of your possessions.
Why not do as Jesus did and as he asked you to do? Why, Joel Osteen and all you other religious “leaders”? Sell a tie and feed families for a Month, Joel Osteen.
Isn’t religion wonderful? And the Christians, not a more loving and compassionate group in the world….in their own minds.
    Luke 12:33
“Sell your possessions and give to the poor.”
Oh yeah, I guess that doesn’t apply to you. You have better things to do, like tell gays they are sinners and not allowed the equal rights you enjoy.

  13. 13

You want everyone to be accepting of homosexuality, and there are people who want everyone to not accept it. And you both push your opinions on people and rag on the belief that is opposite of you.
Well there is always going to be a person who doesn't believe what you believe because people are capable of having their own opinion. This man shouldn't change for you and you shouldn't change for him. It's PERSONAL opinion and choice.

  14. 14

I caught his show once, he spent half of it trying to push his book on CD…because along with not being able to think independently I don't think a lot of his fans can read either. I'm sure he too will be caught doing blow off of his male hooker(s) soon enough.

  15. 15

Good to know this whack job believes everything that book made up by other whack jobs about 2000 years ago. I wonder how he feels about slavery, after all Leviticus 25:51 says: "#45 -The children of strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession." Yup boys and girls, the good book says that if you can afford to buy children, then you own them and all their future family and children. Isn't that just a comforting thought? Doesn't it make you feel all religious inside???

  16. 16

I think I fucked him once when I was in Houston. Almost sure of it. If I remember correctly he loved it and begged for more.

  17. 17

People are entitled to their own religious beliefs. It's our right to believe that homosexuality is a sin just as it's your right to think we are crazy for thinking so. Let's stop the finger pointing. Keep your bedroom preferences to yourself and I'll keep my beliefs to myself.

  18. 18

    Re: wrappedinHislove
How about setting the example and keeping your beliefs to yourself to start with?

  19. 19

Although I don't remotely agree with pretty much any view. any religion makes about sexuality, they are entitled. It makes zero sense to be outraged about views on homosexuality from groups who have always - and will continue to - reject it. Accept that views counter to your own exist and move on. You're the one, Perez, who seems intolerant. As if the the Church should side with you and ignore what they believe is God's rule on the subject.

I love when ignorance is masked by 'following the bible'. Hey Joel I don't approve of your huge teeth, but I understand that is just who you are!

  21. 21

Yes, Mario the Bible clearly states this and it will not change for you or anyone else. Get over it…

  22. 22

It doesn't matter what he says on this earth, he'll answer for this bullshit basking in the fires of hell.

  23. 23

He porb'ly has a TWINK on re-tainer, who comes over to service him 'in his hour of need'…also brings the 'tina !

  25. 25

God is not hateful - he is. Bet he butt-fu@ks his wife at night, and tells her NOT to shave her legs, IF ya get my drift ! Another Ted Haggard …..

  26. 26

first of it in my opinion he is being judged wrongfully. He has his own beliefs just like everyone else does and just because he doesn't agree with some views does not make him a monster. He did not say one rude or slanderous thing about homosexuals but stood his ground on his beliefs since when is that wrong? he as a christian will follow what the scripture says if he didn't it would make him a hypocrite.

  27. 27

Yes, live in the NOW idiot…not in some ancient scripture that was translated over and over again….If you want to take all the other insane stuff literally in the bible, please read about the craziness about women and shellfish…just to name a few….Brainwashed and sheltered this man is ……go away.

  28. 28

Hes loves it up the butt.

  29. 29

Re: wrappedinHislove – oh, if only you would.

  30. 30

well at least hes being respectful. i doubt he would treat a homosexual any differently. you have to respect his opinion just as he has to respect yours. he does have an asshole of an opinion but wt evs. one day he'll have a gay grandson and swallow all those words.

  31. 31

Re: ccmyplaymate – Many believe the Bible is a living document. Meaning that it is up to being interpreted as the times go by. You'd be hardpressed to find the average bible-toting individual to believe that they should not eat pork or shellfish or deny themselves sex during menstruation simply because the bible says its an abomination. But these are simple arguments for tossing out the few lines in the bible that say men lying with men is wrong. Not to mention that apparently the bible has nothing against women getting it on.

  32. 32

Re: ccmyplaymate – I find myself perfectly capable of tolerating uninformed bigoted Christians. It's the ones who think that taking the next step and committing violence and hurling insults at those they disagree with that I find intolerable. Frankly, if they believe that beating and/or killing homosexuals is god's will, I don't see how god would have a problem with us shooting bigots who fail to turn the cheek as his son taught.

  33. yeez says – reply to this

Re: ccmyplaymate – There are over 600 laws in the Hebrew Bible. Picking out specific "laws" and choosing to abide by only those and ignoring others that are far more reasonable and less discriminatory (kosher laws, modest dress laws for both men and women) is the definition of cherry picking.

  34. 34

Re: ehidontreallycare – The year has more to do iwth society becoming more informed and recognizing it's ignorance in the past. Unless of course you think that going back to brutally torturing folk a la Inquisition style should still be en vogue… cause as you say… religious fervor is timeless.

I really want to say that joel osteen is the best pastor ever!! he is nothing but kind, positive, encourgeing person, i attend his service every sunday and see all kinds of people attend , he never never excludes nobody or hates anybody thats crazy, i invite everyone that wants to think poor of him to come to one of his service and see what a wonderful person he is, and he does so much for alot of people so i hate it when people say that he takes money NO!!! if yall would see so many people he and his charitys have helped heal sick people in kenya !! dont judge him if yall havent even took the chance to get to know what a wonderful person Joel Osteen is and all of the people that surround him!! i will always defend joel osteen because i have seen what a wonderful person he truly is !!

  37. 37

Re: Sick_girl – There are men in prison who think it's perfectly justified to murder someone for the couple bucks in their pocket just because they need the money to by an ice cream pop. Btu that's just their opinion. I dunno why we'd want to make laws saying that that opinion should be punished. Or maybe we want laws that protect everyday citizens so that they can have fulfilling lives without the intrusion of the demented that surround them.

  38. 38

bet he eats shellfish, and that blonds ass. never let someone tell you who to be. especially any one with a fake accent.

  39. 39

Re: dreamboat – Sometimes huge overbearing judgmental organizations that claim to have the moral high ground are just wrong. Inquisition, Holocaust, witch trials, KKK, the nutjobs that carried out the 9/11 attacks. History will decide if the silly bigots who are afraid of homosexuals were just that. silly and bigoted. Or maybe it will bear out that Homosexuals are a curse on society and they're agenda is to bring down modern society only to leave it irreversibly hellbent. Jesus save us from the homos who want to destroy the very fabric of our perfect society that we have worked so hard to take care of all of it's members (well… accept for the poor and the elderly and the sick and the homeless and the children of immigrants and the democrats … cause u know, they're lost in the wilderness.. and my neighbor who can't get a job and my cousin who has to work at walmart while trying to pay back $60k in student loans for the useless degree he got that the American dream has failed to provide for him.)

  40. 40

Re: rickraton – my response was in defense. I would never call somebody out based on their religious beliefs or sexual preferences, which is what Perez did with this post…I only defend my beliefs when they are called into question. 'Let's play fair' is the point I am trying to make.

  41. 41

The bible does preach against sexual immorality. But it also says it will be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter Heaven. How much money do you have again Joel?? He and his whole cult following annoy me…

  42. 42

Re: Scotty – If only I would what? Make a clear point instead of sounding coy when I don't have anything else to say?

  43. 43

Re: Scotty – Why the insults? Can you make your point without insulting somebody? Your intolerance of "bigoted Christians" is interpreted as pushy and awfully hateful. Not all Christians are bigots. Don't group anyone who believes in God into one big bowl. I try, and sometimes fail, at being understanding, non judgmental, and I love everybody no matter what they believe, what their sexual preference is, and no matter what wrongs they have committed. I understand we all want to defend our own convictions and decisions but why be so hateful? You are no better than the "bigot Christians" when you ASSume we are all ignorant and self-righteous and use your hate filled vocabulary.

  44. 44

Joel Osteen has a mega-church (which, to me, is cult-like, but I digress) and a TV show of his sermons. You must be dim if you think he'll change his opinion about gays.

  45. 45

Re: wrappedinHislove – How about that if I think your opinion is ridiculous and that by being silent it would appear that I agree with said ridiculous opinion. Should I not grow the set of balls needed to speak out about how possibly harmful it is to those who are bullied and chastised and even injured or killed by the extremists who aren't so quietly holding your opinion. I think it'd be wise to voice an opposing opinion that says that your opinion is ignorant, that it is wrong and reckless and detrimental to the advancement of our society. Then do you think people should just keep their opinions to themselves? 'Cause I'd rather speak up when I think my opinion has merit and makes a real difference in our society. I don't think we should quietly acquiesce to your silent and obviously deadly point of view in light of recent events. In fact, I think you'd do well to have more conversations about it so that you might be more well-rounded and have a better informed opinion.

  46. 46

Re: Scotty – I agree with you…it is awful, scary, horrid, disgusting (and many more adjectives) that there are religious extremists bullying, hurting, and killing people who live a different life style than what they're used to or taught. No religion that truly seeks God intentionally hurts and/or kills innocent people. It's criminal behavior, not religious behavior, end of story. If people realize that we all have a God given right to live as we CHOOSE then the world would be a much more peaceful place. Fighting for you believe in is what makes the grass grow. I'm a military wife, I understand that more than most people. You are defending your cause, and you understand that more than most people as well. My point is, when you are fighting for what you believe you get a lot further when you actually make arguments that are thoughtful, insightful, and make people think, not by spewing off the same hateful rants.

  47. 47

*sarcasm* So that means you're perfect, perezito! perfect, perfect, perfect! never ever made ANY kind of mistake whatsoever! perfect in the eyes of God, never ofended him in any way, shape or form. Righteous and holy as Jesus himself. Maybe even with a touch of divine nature… lol. Your utter stupidity NEVER ceases to amaze me.

  48. 48

Re: AttFinch – 1 Tim 6:17-19 is adressed to rich believers and never says anything about selling all your possessions. We also have examples of rich christians like Lydia. So it would be nice if you started reading and quoting the WHOLE Bible instead of picking and choosing the verses you like the most and twisting them as you like :)

  49. 49

Re: wrappedinHislove – What's wrong with insulting a belief system that is just plane wrong. It's not like I'd want to compliment it. And I don't recall saying I hated anyone. I hate a concept… that people equate having an opinion with having a justified opinion. Just because someone has talking points, doesnt mean that those talking points have merit. It just means that the person can talk. It's not necessarily convincing that you can make a statement without opening the door to let someone tell you that your full of crap. And you brought up an interesting debate… I love the new spin that intolerance of bigotry is the new bigotry. For example, I hate that people hate black people. "Why you gotta be so hateful?" Um… because it's justified.. people who prejudge others are bigots. And that's just wrong. And it applies across the board. I'm not hating for no reason so it doesnt qualify as being a bigot. I've been pretty clear about what I think is ignorance. How the bible is interpreted in the modern day is pretty inconsistent. Personally I find the book to be quite a fable… but listening to those who say they study it, it seems they are pretty choosy about what they take to actually be the word of god. It's disingenuous for someone to go out of their way to damn gay people and then sit down and have a shrimp cocktail.

  50. 50

Re: ccmyplaymate – Thank you! Well done.

  51. 51

Re: ehidontreallycare – Yes! Another great comment.

  52. 52

Re: Scotty – You are quite naive if you think the opinions of an anonymous Internet poster have any weight whatsoever. Yes, I'm talking about yours. And hers. And mine, for that matter.

  53. 53

Re: PosseUser – Point taken and then dismissed per your belief. lol. Yet as long as this unfortunate leader of Christian people is going to go on national television spouting misinformation, I find some comfort that I can discredit him in even the least bit by letting people know that not everyone agrees with his idiotic beliefs. Take what you will from that and disregard the rest. Or disregard it all which seems to be the point of your post.

  54. 54

People are entitled to their own beliefs… whatever they may be & they are entitled to live their lives according to these beliefs. And I used to think that this was the message Perez was trying to put out there. I am not so sure anymore.
It seems that although Perez is more than happy to preach equality and civil rights when he is in agreement with an issue, he is actually quite close-minded towards people who don't share his thoughts and ideals.
Throughout the years I have seen several postings on this website where Perez is expressing outrage over the intolerance and bigotry that the gay population of America has had to face -and perhaps the cruelties gays have faced & the recent rash of gay teen suicides- has all gotten to him because it seems that Perez himself has become increasingly intolerant towards the population of Americans who don't believe in gay right and live their lives according to this belief.

  55. 55

Re: PosseUser – And BTW, I don't think the matter of discourse between people about current events should be discounted as having no "weight." But that's my humble opinion.

  56. Wrenn says – reply to this

You can't believe in the Bible and condone homosexuality. Those two just don't jive.

  57. 57

    this man is an idiot.

  58. 58

Re: Wrenn – Ho Hum… You might try calling your local Unitarian Church and ask to have that discussion. You'd be surprised by the diversity of thought when it comes to Christian faith and homosexuality.

  59. 59

Although I don't agree with his opinion, I at least understand it. He's a PASTOR perez. What do you expect? His sole job is to believe the bible and the bible says homosexuality is wrong. You think that he's just gonna ignore the biggest thing that gave him a job? No! And it's not fair that you get so angry when people don't respect your opinion even though you don't respect theirs. It goes both ways, whether you agree or not.

  60. 60

Gays really seem to think they are special LOL. In the bible homosexuality is a sin. If you're religious than you have to be against homosexuality. You cannot change an age old book as you see fit. Sorry gays, It doesn't work that way.

  61. 61

  62. 62

    What a dirtbag.
I can't believe the amount of idiots that give him and his dirtbag wife money so they can wear designer clothes and live like kings and queens.

  63. 63

    Re: *truth*hurts*
    once again, interpretation.
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be "GENEROUS" and willing to share.
you are and will always be fucking hypocrites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  64. 64

  65. 65

Firstly I would like to point out that while I don't agree with everything within christianity or Joel Osteen has to say I do to an extent need to defend him. Having watched the ENTIRE interview last night on Piers Morgan he said that while he doesn't agree with it because it is not within the scripture he said he has several friends and parishoners who are homosexual and should he be invited to a wedding by one of them he would attend because he cannot judge, nor would he insult them or their rights, however they could not be married in the eyes of the church. To be honest he has a point.

  66. 66

While I support marriage 100% and my husband and I got married this past weekend in a non religious ceremony as we are firm believers in the right to choose who you mary and it should not be based on orientation, you cannot just expect an entire religion to change. The man is representing a religion not the law or state, and even if every state, province, territory or wherever was to legalize gay marriage it does not mean the church has to marry them. There is a difference between church and state. If you want to pick the guy apart scrutinize the fact that he is anti abortion but wouldnt give an opinion on the death penalty because he "didn't know enough about it." Even though a point was raised that DNA has proved in numerous cases the innocence of death row inmates.
I find Mr. Osteen to be ridiculously annoying, but don't pick the guy apart for representing a religion. You do't have to agree with it, but he has the right to say it.

  67. 67

You can't modify the scripture, you can create a new book or policy but until the church changes that, no church leader has to preach or support gay marriage. Don't blame the guy for doing his job or having his beliefs

  68. 68

Once again, to all you homophobes hiding behind your bibles: No one is asking you to change your beliefs, HOWEVER…until the laws of this land of the FREE gives gays equal rights, please shut the hell up. You have made your point….over and over and over and over and over again. Once gays have equal rights in this country that supposedly seperates church from state, you can go back to judging your neighbors. Until then…f**k off!

  69. 69

Quick, show me a well educated or high IQ homophobe - yeah, kind of hard to find. Hate dwells in the wee brained.

  70. 70

Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning."

Jesus said that Moses rules on divorce are wrong and Moses wrote Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.

  71. 71

Sin - any reprehensible or regrettable action, behavior, lapse, etc.; great fault or offense.
That definition right there pretty much confirms to any one of these people saying that he has a right to his "opinion" and that he is being respectful, dont really understand his meaning. He is saying that it is an offense, something needing to be "fixed". That is more than an opinion that is spouting hate and negativity. He can believe in the scripture and all its righteousness however his compulsion to go on television (not just televesion, CNN) and spout that homosexuality is a sin, his hateful. It is also naive for anyone to sit and watch that and not know that he is perfectly aware that he is in front of a camera, there is no way he will sit there and say "DAMN THOSE HOMOS TO HELL" he is going to be as 'respectful' as he can.
I do believe it is a shame that people fight to deny others the right to love, especially when we live in a world filled with such hate.

  72. 72

LOL!!!! You backwards redneck! The "scripture" also talks about black slaves, stoning woman to death if they have sex before their wedding night, give me a fucking break! They chose 1 line out of the fucking bible and use it to hate upon others, what happened to“Thou shalt not judge" and "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."? Fucking idiot! LOL

  73. light says – reply to this

the bible - which is also the same as jesus himself says in - romans 1 - 27 :28

"And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved"

'And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper'

this is the new testament - after the death of Christ.

this means for those gays who still feel what they are doing is wrong - then there is still hope for you - but those who are convinced that they doing nothing wrong - then it means GOD has given you over to a reprobate mind. not to acknowledge your sins.

that means my friends - the one who spoke the entire universe into existence, is beginning to give up on you.

that is the most terrible thing to befall a person.

  74. 74

Ask him pointblack, "Are you GAY?" If he blinks he IS!

  75. 75

Re: ccmyplaymate – Extremely well said, Christians are to love and not judge others for how they choose to live but unfortunately there are those out there that do the opposite of that. True believers in Jesus opt on the side of grace, mercy, and love. Not hate and judgement.

Had MichelleB, RickP or SarahP made this comment Perez would have called them STUPID and other things. And when JohnnyD used the word "rape" he went easy on him too. So bottom line is that if Perez likes you then get a slap on the wrist. Weird but smart how even Perez picks his battles !!!

  77. 77

One day I will pass, Perez will pass, Joel Osteen will pass, everything and everyone will pass, and the only thing left standing will be God's Word (Matthew 24:35). If there is one thing that will NEVER change it's His word. It does not go old or out of style. It is what everyone's life will be judged by.

Because we care about humanity, we continue to remind people of what God's Word says. We are not intolerant, we need God as much as everyone else does. Thank God there are still people that love others enough to tell them the truth, and not what they want to hear. Each person decides whether to listen or turn away.

The incredible thing about this is that there is still time, and if we ask God, nothing is impossible. God can change our lives and our hearts so that we may begin to please him with our actions, lives, and even our thoughts. Tomorrow may be too late. He's helped me live according to His Word, and if he can do it for me, he can do it for anyone, you just have to be willing.

God Bless You all, and remember… JESUS LOVES YOU, UNCONDITIONALLY.

  78. 78

Homosexuality IS a sin and it's immoral. Get over the fact that people still believe in the Bible . It doesnt matter what day and age we are in. It doesn't make it anymore acceptable.

  79. 79

Re: yeez – I think I might have to re-think my beliefs entirely. Your witty comment really has me second guessing. That totally sums it up for me so thank you for showing me the light. *MIND BLOWN*  Okay honestly think 10 commandments. Yes times and people have changed, but God and his 10 commandments have not. If the Bible was written today we would not be talking about stonings, but juvy and probation. Lets not be rediculous here.

  80. 80

Re: yeez – See the comment I posted to the guy below. Same to you my friend. Come on now. Way to focus on the extreme of people in the Bible. Not the point here at all, but I get how you try to defer the attention to make me seem simple and narrow minded. Good for you!

Re: LOLA789 – i agree, he is a very kind man ive read his books and i listen to him on sundays, sure i believe in god and i think people do go to hell for things, my best friend is gay and i love him to death! i hate that people say that hes fake or that he takes money….both of which are false….people say "dont force your religion down our throats" but are quick to start saying shit about how god isnt real or things like that….thats basically shoving things down the throats who DO believe in god. people nowadays need to grow up and stop blaming others its called freedom of speech not lets talk shit about those who are doing better than us….GROW THE FUCK UP!

I have seen both sides and how this controversial subject has affected people. I grew up in a christian home but i do not practice the religion. i do believe in god but i do not consider myself a christian. I feel like people need to understand both sides before making judgements. never in this video did he say that he hates gays he just believes its a sin, and that is what is says in the bible. Not everyone is going to agree this is right which not even i believe is right because i believe that god loves everybody, but you have to understand his perspective on things and respect it just how a homosexual wants respect for his/her decision. Just because you dont agree doesnt mean its wrong!!! Its an opinion and a choice and an opinion cant be wrong because it is there perspective on it. Now you have to realize there are some people that do hate gays but they are also known as extremists, which Joel osteen is not.

  84. 84

If you follow scripture, homosexuality is a sin… end of story. You don't have to like it, you don't have to agree with it, that's just what it is. I will not get into a theological debate over this based on the ignorant statements about shellfish, but if you don't follow christianity don't comment.

It's a sin to give into homosexuality. The act of homosexuality is condemned in scripture, not struggling with homosexual tendencies. However, scripture does not condone violence or discrimination against those who practice a homosexual lifestyle. That is left to God's judgement later. So in a country of freedom of religion, we are all FREE to believe what we wish. If you don't like it, you don't have to go to his church, listen to his sermons or buy his books.

Re: Scotty – the reason for this "diversity in christian thought" is that people are trying to accommodate and justify their life-styles. But the Bible is very clear about God's stand on homosexuality… those who choose to live as homosexuals & defy the commandments we have been given will not have eternal life

Re: AttFinch – ok. let us look at the verse in its entirety, shall we..

"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life." 1 Tim. 6:17-19
Here, we are simply being told that God provides us with all of the earthly wealth we accumulate and that we should recognize Him as the true source of this wealth and to be generous with these riches- meaning that these riches should be enjoyed and used for the advancement of His kingdom, not for self-centered living. We see this message again in Jeremiah: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches." Jer. 9:23 where we see Jeremiah was contending with people who were depending on their own capabilities rather than on God.

Re: AttFinch – Now, back to the topic of homosexuality: homosexuality is the manifestation of one's sexual DESIRE towards a member of his/her own gender. The Bible is very clear on God's stance on homosexuality: "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, not homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Cor. 6:9-10

This verse specifically tells us that Christians will sometimes deceive themselves into thinking that God does not require them to live righteously and by His commandments. There is no question that the people listed in this verse will not inherit the kingdom of God, and unfortunately when someone engages in homosexuality they are also engaging in acts of fornication & adultery since the intercourse is happening outside of marriage, gay men are engaging in acts of sodomite.

When a person decides to engage in homosexuality they are making a decision to live against God's will and to live according to their own selfish, self-centered desires.

Oh the comments, the comments. Who Pays Cash Daily?

  89. 89

So Perez can say how uncomfortable, judge, or disagree with the 16 year girl who married the 51 year old actor, however he gets his panties in a bunch (no point intented) when someone is uncomfortable or judge or disagree with gays or transgenders. What happen to equality for all?

  90. 90

don't get me wrong. I am not against gay people, not at all! ask my friends:P I am pro gay:P But I do think that if you want those people to respect your beliefs and your sexuality, you also have to respect the things they believe. So what it's 2011.. Give them time and respect them. I think some gay people are making it a bit more dramatic that it is.. This man is not disrespectful or anything.. so.. just let him be:P

  91. 91

I am a Christian woman, but I'm a Christian woman who also loves the LGBT community. Jesus came to teach us to love EVERYONE and that's what I plan to do while I'm on Earth. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but what someone believes should not encroach on the rights of others. So Joel and many other Christians don't condone the gay lifestyle….that's their business. There are a lot of things in the Bible that don't work in today's world. Standing next to a woman while she's menstruating is a sin, eating shellfish and pork is a sin and I know plenty of Christians who do these things! We have to look at the time the Bible was written, who the Bible was written for and to, and take things in context. Believe what you will but don't spew hate.

Re: geno84 – interesting how you are "cherry picking" the very version of the scripture you want to make your point. They didn't even know what homosexuals were in those times. A 1st grader has a better understanding of science then the originators of the bible. Regardless, a closer to original translation would read "Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

  93. 93

Maybe some of you people should actually READ the Bible before you start bashing it or pulling "Quotes" from it. The Old Testament does give certain rules, but the New Testament does away with these most of these Rules. A 2 Second search on google would tell you that. Why bash Joel for his beliefs? The bible says things about homosexuality, so why would Joel agree with something different? And he's wrong for that? I don't particularly care for Joel, but he's standing by his beliefs like gays do theirs. Who cares?? I don't agree that being homosexual is right, but I have homosexual friends. Not all Christians hate people. Is saying they are crazy and calling them names going to make them like you more?? I think not. So get over it. You want to be treated the same, but you don't treat Christians the same either!!! Geez.

  94. 94

adultary is bad and gay are wrong to

  95. 95

Christians have the right to their beliefs as does everyone else. I am happy to hear him not bash people for their choices and saying there going to hell for there sins. I HATE when Christians say that. He is just saying he believes what the Bible says 100% he doesn't pick and choose what to believe out of it so that it makes other people feel more comfortable. To believe its a sin to be a homosexual doesn't mean the person hates you. And know one can say oh your going to hell because of it because there not God and they have no idea. I am a Christian and have 2 gay family members I do love them tons and don't hate them one bit it's there life and when the time comes they have to answer for their lives just like I have to answer for mine. I don't think Joel needs to change his thinking because it's 2011 that's stupid.

Re: AttFinch – Why don't you sell your possessions and feed the children? Joel Osteen's church gives tons of money away to organizations sorry you don't get a personal email of every dollar that goes out. You have no idea what your talking about in the first place. He's not saying anything horrible like some pastors do and say that gays will burn in hell he's just stating his beliefs is its a sin. Swearing is a sin, gossiping is a sin, being gay is no worse a sin than swearing.

  97. 97

.. well we are sinners and so are everyone else….

  98. 98

Sorry folks but God doesnt change His views because man changes.

  99. 99

Pastor Joel Osteen makes it very clear ALL THE TIME he is asked that question that as a Christian he goes by what the Scriptures say and that is what HE believes!
Please stop distorting or mocking his words! He has been very elegant about this issue in all instances! He never made any derogatory comment about anyone and even mentioned that he has nothing against gay people, that he does not judge because he is not God, and that he knows many gay people that go to his church and they are very nice.
The problem that I always see is that gay people want to force their opinion on straight people and want everybody to think like them! That is unacceptable!
I see that all the time with gay people! You guys want to impose yourselves on everyone else and that is not right! You need to allow people the same freedom of opinion you want allowed to yourselves! You have to respect other people's opinion if you want yours to be respected! You have to give them space and freedom to do so!
I am not in favor of homosexualism and I do not criticize. I do respect people's choices but don't necessarily have to agree with them!
I am entitled to my own opinion and so should be anyone!
    Thank you!
