Wow! Michelle Williams Impresses as Marilyn Monroe In The New Trailer For My Week With Marilyn

| Filed under: Film FlickersMichelle WilliamsEmma WatsonDominic Cooper

Really, truly. We're very impressed.

Rather than choosing an actress with a public (and sometimes disturbing) obsession with the late, great Marilyn Monroe for this movie, The Weinstein Company picked Michelle Williams for the iconic part - and they should never regret that decision.

Check out the trailer (above) to see William's stunning transformation into the world's most famous blonde.

Also, keep your eye out for Emma Watson with serious, non-Heromione looking hair!

she really does do a great marilyn! I'm surprised actually, but it looks like it'll be a decent film. I'll have to see it!

  2. 2

well…i guess its ok. you havent seen many marilyn movies or interviews, have you, perez? be honest.

  3. 3

they should of called it "my week with a whore" lol.

  4. 4

Although I think they could have chosen a better actress for this role, it seems as if Michelle Williams does quite a good impression of Marilyn Monroe.
I just hope that in that so-called week they can explain her true story.
She was not a whore, to the above commentators. She was the same as you and I, but in the public eye and with important people.

I'm so tired of this chick. He died a while ago, get the hell over it. and lose the stupid fucking accent, it makes you look like a fool.

  6. 6

I think she is a very talented actress, but I don't feel like she captures Marilyn at all. I would still watch the movie though..

Re: MikelJoshua – oh please she was a whore, but a misunderstood one like urself.

  8. 8

After reading her Vogue article and hearing all the response from critics and people alike of her Marilyn Monroe portrayal, I have a feeling this might be her year at the Oscars. 3rd times the charm!

Michelle Williams is one of the best

  10. 10

    goosebumps!!!

  11. 11

Will definitely be seeing this. Michelle is lovely for this role, I'll bet Lindsay is having a fit.

Re: blugre – Where the fuck do you think we are? The Victorian Era? Or perhaps the Westboro Baptist church? Go spout your prude, old fashioned babble somewhere else.

Scarlett Johansen would have been a far better choice because she is glamourous in the same way Monroe was. No matter what, Michelle Williams looks like a girl dressed up in a Marilyn Monroe costume. She almost gets it, but she's not a bombshell..at all. I think most people, if you put a picture of Michelle Williams and Scarlett Johansen together and asked, 'Who is sexier?" 9 out of 10 would say Scarlett. Williams is cute, fair skinned, and blonde but i do not think that is enough. She just doesn't have the mystery and sex appeal that the real reincarnation of Monroe should have.

What is up with all these ads before you can even watch the video? Soooo annoying, doesn't make me wanna buy their products…don't bombard us with ads!

  15. 15

Michelle looks like her but her voice doesn't sound right for this part…hopefully the movie is better than this clip is.

Re: FemaleFilmMajor – yea but scarlet doesn't have the acting chops to pull her off i think they chose michelle because shes a great actress

    Re: FemaleFilmMajor

this just in, in a battle of who's the better actress, the hot girl wins.

more than 9 out of 10 would say scarlett is better looking, 10/10 would. as someone said though, Williams is a FAR better actress, that out weighs the beauty in the roll.

Re: jalenxox – I think they are about equal in their acting ability which is why I compared the two in the first place.. Michelle Williams tends to play a lot of the same characters (she does it well most of the time) but she bores me more often than not. Johansen doesn't necessarily pick the best projects, but I think she challenges herself and is always fresh. Charlize Theron might have been the ultimate choice…though she is perhaps a bit too modern looking.

Michelle Williams is good but definitely overrated as an actress (a la Leonardo DiCaprio), she's not bad here, but I'm with MikelJoshua & definitely think they should have cast someone else. Anyway, looks like a well-done film, though. I won't see it b/c of her, tho. Overrated, Perez (just like when you call Britney's dancing [now] ferocious - get fuckin real, dude; she's a stiff).

Re: FemaleFilmMajor – I think you are right & agree with all that you are saying, btw.

  21. 21

Re: lullzzzzz – When you are talking about Marilyn Monroe, looks is very important. If it wasn't a bio-pic on one of the most beautiful women in American film, then there would be different standards. But when you are talking about one of the most famously beautiful women in history, i think looks is a worthy, relevant and genuine topic to discuss.

  22. 22

I'm kind of indifferent about Monroe simply b/c I am tired of seeing that weird obsession that so many actresses seem to have with her, but this movie also looks like it's about more than just her. It seems that more is going on with the people around her.
And I'm kind of just really curious to see Emma Watson, more than anything. I mean, that is a shiteous wig they put on her, butt does seem like a much different role for her, even if it is a small one.

  23. 23

Intense! Can't wait to see this. Looks like Michelle really drew on her own pain to do Marilyn justice. Heath would be so proud!

    Re: Gunner8

you didn't just say leonardo dicaprio is overrated.. he doesn't have huge range, or at least doesn't take roles to utilize it, but what he does is done incredibly.

a lot of the "greats" don't have range though.

Pacino, Deniro, Nicholson, etc. They all play the same role in every movie. But they're still great.

Russell Crowe comes to mind as a great actor with diverse roles played exceptionally though.

Gladiator, 3:10 to Yuma, A Beautiful Mind, The Insider.. plays a different person exceptionally in all of them, and the list could go on and on. That said, Leo is still one of my current favorites.

Ugh.. Leonardo DiCaprio overrated…. mind = blown

  25. 25

She's no Marilyn, but Im pleasantly surprised.

  26. 26

Good job Michelle! I can feel Marilyn's essence here. Can't wait to see the film.

  27. 27

No, so wrong. Not Marilyn at all.

  28. 28

Aw she did good to me.. I don't know much about her or what Marilyn sounds like but I think she did great.. You can't find an exact replica of Marilyn Monroe. It just isn't going to happen, she is one of a kind. I think Michelle is fine for the role.. idk about Scarlet, yes she has the look but I haven't seen her act much so Idk about taking on Marilyn.. I don't care either way.. I'll watch it.. looks good.. and yes thank god they didn't go with crazy LL.. she can't even get regular roles..
and I also don't get peoples obsession with MM, she is just one of a kind and no one will be like no matter how much they compare and try.. just no.. geez let the woman r.i.p… bet she would be freaked out by all these Hollywood obsessed crazies

  29. 29

OMG! I absolutely love Marilyn and that trailer is delicious! Can't wait to see the movie!

Re: FemaleFilmMajor – yeah, i have to agree with you. im not really feeling the michelle williams as marilyn. i dont think she really looks like marilyn nor sounds like her. i also think she is too thin to be marilyn. women in the 50s were thicker than what is considered shapely now. they had the classic hour glass figure where michelle williams has the body that is typical of an actress today. i like your idea of charleze theron as marilyn.

  31. 31

looks great and im happy to see kenneth branagh back around hes a good actor cANT WAIT

  32. 32

SCARLETT johansen couldnt cut this role

i just rewatched ' the island ' for about the 1000th time and she really is lacking in acting ability she relies alot on her looks ..
what michelle lacks in siren looks she has the acting skills …
