Anti-Gay Minnesota Congressman Erik Paulsen Gets Glitter Bombed!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikInspirationAwardzPerezTVEvents

BEST. FORM. OF. PROTEST. EVER.

Check out the video (above) of gay activist Ben Egerman glitter bombing anti-gay Republican Minnesota Congressman Erik Paulsen for his efforts against same-sex marriage!

At the time of the event, the awful congressman was receiving a Friend of the Family award for "his efforts to place a constitution amendment to ban marriages for same-sex couples on the ballot in Minnesota for 2012." Boo!

Here's what Nick Espinosa of the Glitterati gay rights activism group had to say about it:

"I wasn't there but I heard that they interrogated him and was told that he was being taken to the Bloomington police department to be charged with assault. However, 20 minutes later I got a call that he was free and no charges would be filed."

Hooray! We're glad to hear that Nick got off the hook…as he should! Nobody was hurt, and the Glitterati was able to get their VERY important point across!

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!

Whether glitter or anything else, it is still assault. I think in honor of Mario err Perez, we should start flinging crap at gay activists.

While I agree that homophobes are idiots… My best friend is gay and he feels embarrassed when people do this. They're kinda making all gays look like this. Of course, he wants equal rights just as much as the next guy, but this is just rude. :/ There really is a difference between guys who like guys and guys who become a stereotype. It's the latter that usually pisses people off.

  3. 3

This just makes such a bad name for the gays. What a childish and immature thing to do. Sure it's okay for the gays to do shit like this but HEAVEN FORBID anyone not gay or liberal protest in any other form. Perez Hilton is the biggest hypocrite in the entire world.

  4. 4

Not to mention that could really screw up somebody's vision if it were to get in their eyes. Shame on you Perez for endorsing this.

That's the "BEST. FORM. OF. PROTEST. EVER."??…..Nothing like taking steps backwards with your movement! Morons…..

  6. 6

if the "glitterati" are aiming to set gay rights back about 40 years, they're certainly heading in the right direction. idiots.

  7. 7

I can't stand homophobic politicians but this is really counter-productive for the equality cause. Yeah, it's kind of funny from our stand point, but in reality this kind of behavior isn't going to do anything to make homophobic people see gays in a brighter light. It's just going to turn them off. Gays/lesbians and the straight alliance should instead keep setting a good example and continue to be upstanding citizens in all fields: business, medicine, law-making, philanthropy, charity, social work etc. to show that yes, we are just as equal, vital, and important to this society as anyone else.

This is ridiculous, gay people cannot just go around assaulting people just because they have different beliefs. If gay people are going to go around acting like this, maybe people should think twice about accepting them. They would still be in jail if they did that to me. I would definitely press charges with everything at my legal dispense. They could have damaged that person's eye or anything.

Re: Rohan – I like what you said about taking a step backwards. Whatever happened to free speech and not being bullied. These gays are ridiculous. He should have beat the crap out of that gay idiot.

  10. 10

This is ridiculous, this is not how you make valid points for your cause. People would listen if there were mature arguements between opposing sides. But what makes the headlines? Throwing glitter, drag queen flash mobs, and all these flamboyant actions. Want people to take you seriously? Then stop giving in to these sterotypes about homosexuals and start making your voice heard in an intellectual way.

  11. 11

Funny how the "homophobe" doesn't press charges against a gay man assaulting him but if it were the other way around the gay man would be pressing charges for a hate crime.

    Way to support bullying perez

  12. 12

    Homos are so immature.

  13. 13

people used to throw blood and paint on people who wore fur and those people were arrested i dont see why these crazy glitter people arent being treated the same. and

p.s if you want to be treated like everyone else you should protest like everyone else and stop enforcing a stereotype because not all gay men are overly famine and girly

  14. 14

It's just glitter people! Get over it and let's try to get along.

  15. 15

If I was ever glitter bombed I would fucking explode. I'm not going to say all this fake bull shit about it possibly being harmful, it's just really fucking annoying.

  16. 16

ITs sort of like punching someone in the face when you disagree with things they said.

How did that feel Perez? So now you are for assaulting someone?

  17. 17

Re: zooby – "kinda making gays look like this"….No way…this is ONE person out of millions…the lesbian and gay community is a very diverse group, just like any other….they may not agree totally with what this guy (glitter guy) does, however the message behind it is somewhat valid….People (anti-gay) that are this ignorant and want to force their backwards beliefs on others SHOULD be protested!! Imagine their being an "anti-straight" movement….how intolerant and sick is that?….acceptance and equal rights for all!!!!!!Re: philip83 – Again, THIS IS ONE PERSON, stop judging.

  18. 18

Setting back gays. GLAAD, Perez and people like this are setting back gays..I see this video and all I see is gay people not being able to accept that not everyone accepts them. You cannot force someone to accept you. Its so funny how blatantly hypocritical most gays are they say people have narrow minds, etc but just can't accept people don't like them. This is assault. Throwing WATER on someone is considered assault. Glitter is not easy to clean up, and if that gets in someones eyes you have problems. If this was reversed and someone threw water or glitter on a gay person they would be suing and having them arrested for a hate crime. See where this is going people? ERADICATE THE GAYS.

  19. 19

That was just plain stupid. There are classier ways to make a point. This guy is just embarrassing.

  20. 20

They should have taken that fruit out back and beaten some sense into him.

  21. 21

I though violence was never the answer FatBoy.

  22. 22

OK…Glitter Bombing is debatable, but while everyone commenting on this post is SO upset about that, does no one care that the guy (Erik Paulsen) was there getting an AWARD for denying people their equal rights??? Seriously??

  23. 23

Even though I am gay, myself, I am ashamed by this 'glitter bombing'. This is a direct act of bullying because someone shares different views than you do. Isn't that was we're trying to fight against? While I disagree with the congressman's views, he has a right to his own opinion, and the jackass in this video was just being intolerant. My plea to the people who read this is for them to realize that MOST gay people are not like Perez or this guy in the video. Most gay people are tolerant, strong, proud, and don't play the victim card. Perez Hilton has done nothing but set the gay agenda back a couple of years since he started this 'intolerance to non-gay people' crusade, and I just want to let you all know that Perez Hilton does NOT represent me or my people.

  24. 24

You're a shame to gay community Perez, you do WAY more bad for "gay rights" than you do good.

  25. 25

for every "glitter bombed", a homo gets curb stomped

  26. 26

And the song chosen was super gay. It fit the motif well…

    27

This is violent. An attack. Period. If an armed officer had been standing by, he'd have clearly been within rights to shoot this person because that person could have had a gun instead of glitter. Would you have thought it so funny if Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords had been glittered instead? When someone rushes up to do anything, it's assault. It's not right. Can't believe you endorsed this. Is someone slipping back into their old ways? Have they forgotten the tearful video appeal and heartfelt appearance on Ellen? Boo.

  28. 28

LOVE.IT! LOL Definitely the best form of protest. No one got hurt, except for Paulsen's ego!

"He's NO friend of mine!" :) He's no friend of mine neither!

    BRAVO!

  29. 29

The only problem I have with some gay people is when they feel they have to constantly shove their sexuality and beliefes down everyone else's throat. Yes, we know you're gay and yes, we understand your anger at homophobes, but please. This is supposed to be a website dedicated to celebrity gossip; NOT politics.

  30. 30

OKAY. if this was a straight guy glitter bombing a gay man, you would have gone nuts. Hypocrit. This guy should have charges filed against him. It's quite obnoxious and not the way to get your point made at all!

  31. 31

Are you all serious?! You think putting glitter over someone is assault? I'm in from the USA so maybe that's why I have a different viewpoint, but surely publisizing his homophobic agenda and making a joke out of him is a nicer way that terrorising him and his. Surely spouting abusing and evil nonsense should be an offence. I understand there's freedom of speech but this is inciting homophobic hatred isn't it? Surely preaching hatred is much worse than making him feel humiliated, which quite frankly he should feel! And I'm not sure you can say it's put the gay rights movement back 40 years - in the times of the stonewall riots, it might not have been glitter thrown over him, it might have been eggs or worse…he should think himself lucky in my opinion
