Doonesbury Character Roz Comes Out After End Of DADT

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayInspirationLGBT

Welcome to the gayborhood!

Now this is what we like to see. People using their outlets to spread the good word, like the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” The cartoon Doonesbury has been in circulation for 40+ years, but this past week's columns have been some of the best, if you ask us.

The character of Roz, because of the repeal of DADT, decides to finally come out of the closet as a lesbian to her commanding officer, her mother and everyone in her unit. The nice thing about it is that the humor plays to the positive of the situation, not the negative.

Bravo, Garry Trudeau! Thanks for the support!

You know all these gay agenda items - forcing them down our throats - are going to have a heavy backlash on your community……just give it time.

Kinda like the popular girl running for class president……enough already…we are done with it.

    Silly and un-necessary.

great representation of lesbian: butch, expressionless, and in your face I don't care attitude, cause we're all like that -_-

    This is so disgracefull….

i think people are using gay issues because it is the latest trend. Just like "going green" everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon.

Doonesbury is no longer funny and has not been for a long time. It used to be funny when it made fun of all sides, but that has not been the case for over 10 years now. Trudeau needs to take another sabbatical.

I know it is not the PC thing to say…..but I remember back in about 87 or 88, Oprah did a show on lesbians…….some audience member asked…."If you hate men so much, why do you try so hard to look like one?" This has stayed with me all these years, and seeing this character in this comic, brings it right out of me!
