X Factor's Drew Ryniewicz Has A Lovely Voice…But Is She A Star???

| Filed under: TV NewsMusic MinutePerezTVJustin BieberX Factor

We've been following 14-year-old Drew Ryniewicz for a while now, and our feelings about her have pretty much stayed the same.

When we first saw her perform Justin Bieber's Baby, we liked her voice…but we just weren't sure if she seemed like a star.

Then, she auditioned for the judges at bootcamp, which actually impressed us more than the Bieber performance.

Now, after hearing her cover of Roxette's It Must Have Been Love at the Judges' House (above), we still maintain that she has a lovely voice…but we're still not sure that she's a star.

If she were truly confident, wouldn't she stand up during her performance?

She's definitely got potential…but she needs a lot of work.

What do U think? Is Drew a star???

Yup ~ she is a star. Beautiful, angelic voice. There are some other wonderful singers on that show.. so competition will be tough. I hope she doesn't fade away because I would listen to her music.

  2. 2

    she is very talented

She doesn't have the perfect look for the whole teenybopper scene, but she does have that ordinary girl next door thing that could make the fans feel that they themselves have a chance to have fame and a glamorous career, and The X factor is more about that shit than an actual X factor.

  4. 4

she is so talented and is a star! the thing about x-factor that is different from idol is that the contestants aren't forced to become same cookie cutter stars. They each bring something different that makes them unique, and Drew's voice and delivery of each song she does… is so unique and haunting! I would buy every song she's sang so far!

  5. 5

She is wonderful - but she is so young. It wouldn't have hurt her to wait a couple more years before going public.

  6. 6

it's obvious why you couldn't be a judge on a show like this. You're an idiot

  7. 7

Well your opinion is the final word then aye FatBoy. Say how is that record label doing.

  8. 8

I agree she has a great voice but….. so what???? She is forgetable. There is nothing about her that draws you in. She should try the Chrsitian music route.

  9. 9

    She has The Gift.
    .
She just has to allow it to enfold her and carry her off completely.

  10. 10

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE HER!!!!

  11. 11

Personally, I love her. If she isn't a star which I think she is, then I would say she's more of an artist than many stars out there. I think the chair was a bold choice - Love her.

  12. 12

I found her to be quite enchanting. I could would say she would be perfect for movie music. has a wistful melancholic sound that I would happy listen to on my Ipod after a busy day.

  13. 13

she has a good voice good vocal style and tone, BUT get her a fricken stylist please that oufit? horrid. and those NAILS… barf, they are soooo tacky get a manicure on your natural nails with some glossy polish and you would look soooo much better.

Wow ..yeah you would not be good at this. She is a star - vocally she holds her own againsts much older women..she has that awkward gawky thing going that make you just love her personally. She seems so unaffected by all this but still in wonder. It is sad to say the it will come down to a type - there are two young ones her and the little chubby girl who just wants her own bathroom and I know they won't put both through.

  15. 15

I'm sure the first person to hear/see Adele didn't think she was the cookie cutter pop star image either and she is more talented than any other female singer out right now. When image became more important than talent is when music started going to hell and back. I personally love that her voice alone is enough without all of the other BS that ruins it (distracting costumes, dancing, etc.). I think she is one of the most talented ones on the show so far.

  16. 16

I would buy her album today if she had one…. BEAUTIFUL, soothing voice. And only 14 years old!

  17. 17

she sounds stunning here! and she is ONLY 14 yet! so perez, cut the crap about her not looking like a star. If you look at most of the stars right now, u wouldn't have thought they could become a star anyway. eg. little wyne and Lady gaga!

  18. 18

i think she shows a lot of maturity in her performances. She just seems a little young in her personality, but she's only 14. I think she could do really well with the right help, but she has the singing covered.

  19. 19

i'm confused - when did you get to become an expert on 'star potential' ..? i think it's humorous that you think you have any idea AT ALL of what this girl, or anybody for that matter, is capable of. i mean, let's take you for example .. to any regular person you would just seem like a glorified blogging bully with a horrible wardrobe, but apparently that qualifies you to interview/socialize with celebrities and be lady gaga's bitch .. who'd have thunk it .. ?

    20

    that girl is a star.

  21. 21

This girl is a star for sure - she can hit any note and I love the cracks in her voice. She would be another Taylor Swift and could make someone some serious money. Someone is going to record her regardless if she makes this competition or not. I want her cd already…love her rendition of "It must have been love".

  22. 22

nope, she could use some more work on her voice. she's not ready. at least not yet. there's no confidence there. and her voice is a little rough sometimes. sorryy.

  23. 23

drew ryniewicz is absolute crap. i'd rather listen to rebecca black. i don't care who wins just as long as it's not drew. she sucks balls.

  24. 24

    Re: Sane1 – haha no she's not.

  25. 25

Re: Bigdawg – that's the thing she is gonna fade away. there are way better singers on the show. she's more at the bottom with little tweens. but when it comes to real talented singers who have a sold out concert. she's not gonna be one of them. when she was performing justina biebers song the dance moves she was doing lol it looked like she needed to go to the bathroom. hahah

  26. 26

She does have star quality I think. Reminds me of Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne. She's not my cup of tea personality-wise but there are a lot of americans out there who would love her. Her voice is undeniable. She shone when she sang the beginning of creep at bootcamp. Would like her to be less american cheerleader/pageant but there you go…

  27. 27

Re: branbxoxo – haha you must be crazy. there are way more talented singers on the show. drew can't even compare. drew is not talented at all. there are way better singers on there. obviously you haven't been watching.

Even though she is only 14 she has an Amazing yoice. She deserves to win.

  29. 29

I never comment on these sites. But people are so ignorant. She is a Star, no doubt. Voice, unique, almost haunting.., you "feel" the words she's singing. That's what a singer is supposed to do. You people who say she's too young? Too young for what?? What if Beiber waited 2 years..? God given talent is God given talent! She blows these other stars away who are twice her age! What does age have to do with it??! Perez missed the whole point of her sitting. It was a song that needed no movement, no flash and fancy. Just her voice.
    Absolutely perfect!!

  30. 30

Stunning!! I already want to buy her album.

  31. @v@ says – reply to this

    31

That was an extraordinary interpretation, for someone of any age. Let's say she passed the perfect pitch goosebump test with me (that's rare); four times on the back of my neck, and I have perfect pitch. She's something really special. Not your classic teeny bopper fare; mature melodic songwriting could get her far. The type of songs this girl could sing could stand the test of time. Reminds me of a Baez or a Warren.

  32. 32

LOVE her! Hope she makes it!!!

  33. 33

I like a few of the singers on X Factor… BUT she is the only one in the competition who's music I would buy. She sounds that good.

  34. 34

Yes!!! Definitely she is….I watched and listened and then cried….she is an amazing talent and she's only 14? What? Wow is all I have over here….U go Drew do your thang girly:)

  35. 35

Remember that the industry is really about marketing and there is a need for a Teenage Female Performer who can bring in the big bucks (think Justin Bieber). This young girl can be molded, told what to do and how to do it and make the Record Company and the Team that controls her TONS of money. Not just from music, but even more so from product endorsements, etc. Pop Music is so over-produced today that the voice is secondary. The question should be 'Is Drew Commercial?' Are any of the female contestants 'commercial enough?' The winner is going to be someone young that the Team (record compnay, agent, manager, etc.) can control and create and make lots of money with.

  36. 36

Drew is clearly from a lower economic class and her appearance reflects that. The hair is atrocious; so is her mother's. The nails are horrible and same with her mother. They live in a poor, small town in the middle of nowhere and think they are fashionable. It shows. Why hasn't someone given them some helpful advice? It's important to stay true to who you are and where you come from, but this is just embarrassing.
