Disgusting! Male High School Student Suspended And Kicked Off Cheerleading Squad For Same-Sex Kiss!

male-high-school-student-suspended-and-kicked-off-cheerleading-squad-for-same-sex-kiss

This is absolutely disgusting. How on EARTH are there grounds for THIS?!

A 17-year-old male student was kicked off the cheerleading squad and suspended from his High School in Alice, Texas, after he was seen kissing a male classmate in the school's band hall on a surveillance camera!

Because heterosexual public displays of affection are not frowned upon in the school environment and there are female cheerleaders pregnant and already with children still allowed on the squad, this poor kid, who has chosen to remain anonymous, and his parents, along with many outraged others, are fighting back!

The student explains:

"They never check [school] cameras for anything unless something is stolen. I'm sure we were the only ones, sexual orientation-wise, being caught like that. It was a heartbreaker when I was told I had been kicked off. If [it were just heterosexual PDA] that were the case, suspending everyone for that, half the school would be suspended. They should be paying more attention to drugs and alcohol use than kicking a person off a team for kissing."

According to Deputy Executive Director of Equality Texas Chuck Smith:

"There aren't any laws in Texas that protect on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, unfortunately. The issue here is whatever is in the school's code of conduct, and whether it's being enforced equally [for gay and straight students]. If kissing in public is not being enforced for anyone but the gay students, then that's discrimination. And if he was targeted for no other reason than that, then that's discrimination. Because of the lack of protection and the laws in this state, parents taking legal action is unfortunately increasing because it's the only mean to get to a just end."

Well then, obviously, this is what needs to be done!

This kid did absolutely NOTHING wrong, and to think that yet another entire administration in a school system would single him out for his sexual preference, and PUNISH him for that, is absolutely vile, shameful - and should NOT be tolerated!

Thank goodness so many parents are speaking out, and we sincerely URGE them to continue!

Do not RELENT! The only way we can fight this kind of ignorance and hate is to NOT let these bigots off the hook!

EQUALITY FOR ALL!

Whenever I read your opinions on "serious" issues, I giggle to myself. It sounds like a 5th grader attempting to use big words in order to seem intelligent. Just my opinion….

  2. 2

hes on a cheer leading team!! Did they really think he was straight?!! lol

Re: Express_Lane – "This kid did absolutely NOTHING wrong, and to think that yet another entire administration in a school system would single him out for his sexual preference, and PUNISH him for that, is absolutely vile, shameful - and should NOT be tolerated!" Run on, grammatically horrific sentences like this only bring the giggles harder. Get off your high horse Punkinhead, lest your glass house be filled with stones.

  4. 4

PEREZ, WE HERE IN TEXAS DON'T ACCEPT SAME SEX RELATIONSHIPS YET. IT IS DISCUSTING & IT IS NOT ACCEPTED BY GOD IN THE BIBLE. WE HERE IN TEXAS ARE RELIGIOUS PEOPLE.

  5. 5

Is the entire state of Texas stupid? its like a breeding ground of dumba**es

  6. 6

Re: phoenixfreak92 – Amen to that!

  7. 7

Eqaulity for all and you still won't mention the high school student suspended for opposing homosexuality.

  8. 8

Re: phoenixfreak92 – Agreed! What a pathethic state of idiots!

  9. 9

Re: thebigboot – Opposing homosexuality means being discriminatory. People should be held accountable for discrimination.

  10. 10

ugh my parents live in Alice Tx, LOL!

  11. 11

Re: phoenixfreak92 – I realize this means you are ignorant (stupid). There is a brighter light in Tx. A school will not be allowed to bully this student, something Will be done. The same thing will happen in other states w/out national media. You know in Wyoming, you can not find a monument or that Mathew Shepard was strung up and killed there. Locals pretend they don't know what your talking about.

  12. 12

Re: Marcus75YOW – I have lived in NYC and Austin TX. I have NEVER seen people more prejudice and segregated than NYC. Religions, Races wanting to stick together. I went out w/ s/one of the Jewish faith who told me in college he would never take me home or get serious because I wasn't Jewish. IN Austin people of races and faiths mixed together voted together. Small minded idiots, weak small prejudiced. You are the reason people are bullied.

  13. 13

Re: msconcierge – I live in TX an except same sex relationships. I do not except bigots hating on TX because they are stupid.

  14. 14

Re: Marcus75YOW – Your a bigot and a bully to a whole state

  15. 15

You're right Mario, it is disgusting. Gays should be banned from kissing in public.

  16. 16

maybe they have rules against any displays of affection at all…..

  17. 17

    Re: msconcierge
Please don't attempt to speak for an entire state (especially a large one like Texas), lest everyone will think it is a state full of close minded, un-enlightened bible thumpers like you. Also: same sex relationships are the same as any other relationship: they are not here for you or any one else to "accept." They just are. True love is never wrong. I pray one day you people will understand what it is like being denied happiness because what is natural to you is deemed so wrong by others with no good reason.

  18. 18

GAYS..ARE..NOT..SPECIAL. If kids can get suspended for wearing weird clothes, having pierced hairs, odd colored hair, completely out there haircuts (liberty spikes) because it causes a distraction..Then a guy kissing another guy can be too. My friend was suspended for making out with his GF..Don't make this a gay issue. This just happens to be a kid that got caught doing something he wasn't suppose to be doing and just playing the minority card.

  19. @v@ says – reply to this

    19

It's these test cases that either reinforce the accepted thinking status quo, or push for adaptive sociological change towards intellectual and policy equality for minority groups in the legal arena. When society's pendulum is swinging in a new direction, people who would not have pushed back before begin to assert their feeling of injustice as they feel buoyed by the new smell in the air towards gender equality.

  20. 20

Re: NookiesWA – your argument is flawed. Comparing gays to a body modification isn't a good argument. IF you're saying to guys kissing causes a distraction, then a heterosexual couple is a distraction, an interracial couple kissing is a distraction. With your argument I could even say that if there was one black kid in a class of 30, then the black kid is a distraction.

    You belong in another era.

  21. Wrenn says – reply to this

    21

You may think the majority of people in this country support homosexuality, but they do not. We had a gay couple in our neighborhood and their house was listed for sale a few years ago for tax value of $479,000…it sat on the market for years because of the stigma attached to it. Others in the neighborhood, that were not nearly as nice sold relatively quickly and close to asking price. The "gay" house finally sold for $192,000 to an out-of-town couple who knew nothing of its history…after finding out they now have put it back on the market and have sued the former owners and real estate agent for not disclosing this information. No one wants to even live in a house where homosexual activities went on. YUK!!!

  22. 22

PDA is still against rules at almost every public high school and you can get in trouble for it.
He broke the rules, got caught and now he has to deal with the consequences. No sympathy for him.

  23. 23

Im pretty sure it wasnt cause he is gay but cause he was doing intimate things inside the school with another classmate. Most schools dont allow any kind of physical contact between students and much more less between teachers. Not even married teachers can kiss inside the school. In most schools they get certain days of suspension, but I guess it depends their specific punishments rules. Tho being completely kicked form the squad for just a kiss , thats kind of silly. Maybe should just have taken away his leadership.

  24. 24

George Bush was a cheerleader at Yale…just sayin'

  25. 25

Re: msconcierge – the bible says that slavery is acceptable. Do you all in texas think that we should go back to slavery? The bible also says that cutting your hair is a sin. Sinner. You are surely going to hell…

    26

Re: samsonloveddelilahlikeBARBIElovesken – That's how my high school cheer team was. If anyone kisses anyone while in uniform, you're off the team, as simple as that.

  27. 27

Re: msconcierge – Speak for yourself. I'm from Texas and most of the people I know would be ashamed to be affiliated with you. How dare you suggest that Texas supports the hate and discrimination illustrated here. You must have a very low opinion of both yourself and the state you live in.

  28. 28

this comment is to NOOKIESWA: ive gone to the school where all this was taken place and the whole "inappropriate appearl and piercings" thing doesnt fly there! if anything the students get away with having piercings and wearing clothes that reveal a little too much! kids even get caught smoking pot on these so called servalence cameras and get away with that as well! so i have to disagree with you on that statement, if those other kids can get away with making out in the halls or skipping school to do drugs then WHY should this young man have to suffer consequences that do not fit the crime. yes he shouldnt be kissing in school but like i said if everyone else can get away with it then why cant he?!

  29. 29

Put your money where your mouth is Marion. Help these people with the much needed $'s to fight this obvious discrimination.

  30. 30

Re: phoenixfreak92 – That's one pretty closed minded statement. How embarrassing for you. If you read the article, didn't you notice that this was a big issue because the rest of the school AND the parents of the student and of the other classmates were outraged by this? I've never been more proud of my state, and good job to the parents who stood up against discrimination.

  31. 31

lile i said in my recent comment this school lets kids dress very revealingly and many of the kids ARE VERY intimate in school so yes i do think this happened because he was gay, i have went to school there and know how these so called "administrators" are. they let other people be all on each other and DO NOT punish them so why start with this young man
not to mention many of the cheerleaders DO kiss and be intament with their boyfriends AND GIRLFRIENDS while in uniform so why punish a child and make him an outcast for a crime you let others get away with!

  32. 32

Re: NookiesWA – Okay, I'll bite. I usually try to stay away from your posts because I'm not sure if you're just trolling or actually trying to argue with the big guys. Either way, you're very committed. If you read the article, you would know that everyone involved agrees that if it was a straight couple, then no action would have been taken. The kiss was recorded on cameras around the school. Are you actually trying to argue that NO other couples, including heterosexual couples, kissed at this school? If you think there were no other couples kissing at school, you have bad judgement and would be mistaken. If you do think there were other couples at the school who kissed, but didn't get in trouble for it, then wouldn't that make the gay couple in question 'special'?
So which is it? Are you lying, wrong, or just trolling?

  33. 33

Re: Wrenn – I would not make another post on this site, and most of all, never reveal what town you are talking about. Your mindset is poisonous and thankfully, dying out as humans evolve over time. I'm thankful that I will probably never know you in my life, and hope that you find an ounce of compassion down the road, no matter how late in life it is.

  34. 34

I can't see this happening in California but in a Southern State, especially like Texas, I am not surprised. I lived in Mississippi and there's NO tolerance for gay people. They don't even know about a gay district in San Fransisco or what the rainbow's there represent. These people are REALLY sheltered. I mean, they'd ask where I came from (the 'accent') and I'd say Cali and they'd wanna know if I knew all the cast members from the hills, ALL OF EM! So yeah, it's disgusting baloney to you and me and all people who toot equality but for that poor Texan kid, it's all the time, everyday life that he grew up around. No, he shouldn't have to live with the repercussions of being gay in Texas. But he is and unfortunately for him, most people in the south have been put through bad schools (all of them are) and have little minds. We all want to put more money in schooling our kids, for a few years, maybe we should put ALL that money in the schools in the south. And hey if you aren't into racism, don't go to the Southern States. They boast hospitality but if you don't have their accent, the same religious views and the 'preferred' sexual preference for them, you are considered rude and outspoken or disrespectful. OPEN YOUR MINDS…..your little baby teeny minds…..

  35. 35

It's so sad to see so many folks raising their spawn as hate mongers. I'm glad that I live in a more tolerant community. I am a woman and proud to be straight but I can't condone all this hate for the gay and lesbian community. A joke a friend told me the other day…."Don't like cigarettes, don't smoke em, don't like same sex couples, don't hook up with the same sex, don't like marijuana, don't smoke or be around it, don't like abortions, don't have one, etc….and then it said, "Don't like having your rights taken away? Don't take other people's rights away!" I agree. How is another gay couple hurting your 'being'? It's not, you are just ignorant. :/

  36. 36

haha love this. Love should be between a man and a woman. bieng gay should be illegal.

  37. 37

Just because the media makes a big deal about something like this happening in Texas doesn't mean its the only place where people are anti-gay. I'm from Texas and have many gay friends that I absolutely love. I am from a big city in Texas and have never seen anyone mistreat someone based off of sexual orientation. I think you find small minded people in smaller towns all over the country because there not use to seeing gay people but I hope one day someone's sexual orientation won't be such a big deal.

  38. 38

Re: Stacibee – you know, on one hand, I get what you're trying to say about people being closed minded in the South. On the other hand, as someone who was born and raised in North Carolina, I'm also pretty irritated about you painting "southern states" with a broad brush. Yes, some of those types of people are out there, but they are in every state, even California. Just because someone is from the south doesn't mean that they're uptight bigots who are homophobic or whatever. You have to take the good with the bad, and there are plenty of diverse people in the south, of various colors, religions and sexual orientations. We have plenty of friendliness and hospitality for "outsiders" who don't move in and automatically look down their noses at us. Full Disclosure: I moved out of the South, to Germany, but it's always irritated me how a lot of people bash the South, like we're all a bunch of shotgun totin' rednecks who never crawl out of their shanty houses in the sticks, that's the worst part of being a Southerner. I've had people in NYC call me inbred just because my accent didn't sound like theirs. I can't stand dumb shit rednecks either! But you know, I also know some serious queens in the south, out and proud, lots of non-christians, and believe it or not, some of us have IQs of 120 and grew up there! We are not our great-grandparents. Shocker! I know!

  39. 39

Re: Stacibee – Btw, we know about San Francisco (we're cool with it), and nobody gives a shit about your stupid Hills or other reality shows. No wonder people weren't hospitable to you, your attitude to the entire southern population is absolutely clear. Last I heard, schools in California weren't so hot either (or anywhere else for that matter) Or the infrastructure, so maybe don't start calling out when all the other states just about have some type of deficiency as well! I guess I'm going to get told off for my posts, but am I the only one who sees the contradiction in your post, where on one hand you're standing up for some people and then painting another group as ignorant bigots with a broad brush? Maybe YOU need to go back to school!

  40. 40

Re: Stacibee – I have grown up in Texas and even spent my first year of college in Mississippi in 2008 before coming back, and I have to say, your view of the world seems to be based on stereotypes and things people have told you. Though I agree with your stance on the issue, I have to add that Texas is a wonderful place to live, even for a gay person. There were many gay people at my public high school, and there was NEVER any bullying because of someone's sexuality. The academic performance of most schools in Texas is great, too, so I'm not so sure why you feel the need to step in and fix things, so strongly. Your view of the world is very naiive, and I hope that one day you develop the ability to see things more truthfully than the stereotypes you seem so intent on reinforcing.

  41. 41

Until hetero PDA is equally penalized, the school is wrong.

  42. 42

Re: Express_Lane – i was thinking the same thing…he sounds ridiculous..

  43. 43

Re: phoenixfreak92 – lol so stereotyping people because of their sexual orientation is bad but stereotyping people based on the state that they live in is good? I'm glad to see that hypocrisy is alive and well here on the Gay News Network.

    45

Re: joethehobo – I would pray that you read the Bible and find God. Homosexuality is not just a sin, but a mortal sin according to the Bible…and I would rather insult the entire world that to insult God by accepting such a vile, sinful lifestyle.

  46. 46

Re: Wrenn – Thank you for your concern. You are the type of Christian that other Christians are ashamed of and try to separate themselves from, as you are a danger to your own cause. If you really feel that God wants to punish me for the way He created me, then I am truly honored that you would not consider me a fellow 'Christian'. I'm sure you have managed to find someone who shares the same hate as you do for the world around you, and you might even have had, or will have, the opportunity to raise some children to spread the same hate you choose to exemplify, but I am comforted to know that people like you are becoming fewer and fewer, and that people who continue to fight against equality are becoming the minority. Even if it's not in your life time, equality will prevail, and if your children are alive to see it and are anything like you, they will hate every second of it. What I'm hoping, and hopefully what you hope, is that you raised your children to be kind, and loving, and good, despite every effort you have made to teach them your hate. You tell me which they are. The world is too wonderful of a place to be tarnished by people like you.

  47. 47

First of all how would the student know how often they check their cameras? And second of all i have never seen any high school where you can show any kind of PDA. It doesn't matter if you are straight, gay, in between, or whatever.. They probably got in trouble because they WERE caught whereas other straight people that they know who show PDA at school might now have been seen by faculty. Please shut up you fat fkn cry baby and stop posting about this shit! This is supposed to be a CELEBRITY gossip site.. Isn't that what it says at the top? You need to start up a "cry about everytime something gay comes our way" site seperatly!

  48. 48

Re: NOLAgurl2010 – might not*** Rules are rules and even if you are GAY then you still have to follow them asswipe!

  49. 49

Re: joethehobo – Sorry but if you a Christian, then you must not be listening to God's words correctly to think that he thinks it's ok. I could care either way, but if you're going to claim to be a Christian (which i am not) then you should follow the words 100% or stop calling yourself that.. What part of it is a sin did you not understand in your book? Like i said, i could care less either way, but you claiming that you are a Christian should because he says you're going to hell… Just sayin'

  50. 50

Re: NOLAgurl2010 – "Christians" need to stop trying to twist the words in the Bible around to suit themselves. If you're not following them as they are, then you are not a true Christian..

  51. 51

ohhh common! he is a cheer leader it would be outrageous is he was straight!

  52. 52

Re: msconcierge – you means morons not religious people, if you are so religiouuuuus why did your ¨GOD¨ made them gay? he created them, so he wanted them to be gay. done

  53. 53

Re: NOLAgurl2010 – Trust me. I do not consider myself a Christian.

  54. 54

Whats funny is, hes a male..on a cheerleading squad im pretty sure EVERYONE knew he was gay.

  55. 55

    You're a moron, Perez.

  56. 56

they should go to Iloilo, Philippines and they will not be discriminated…

  57. 57

No kids should be making out at school. Period. Making one kid feel entitled to make out because another kid did it and didn't get in trouble is not the right answer here.

  58. 58

Re: xoxoj – Mine too. No smoochy smoochy while in uniform or out of uniform on school grounds.

  59. 59

Re: Wrenn – Possibly the most retarded anecdote ever shared on this site. I wouldn't want to think about half of the perversions hetero couples are engaging in behind closed doors either. That's why the good Lord invented bleach.

  60. 60

Re: joethehobo – God doesn't make shit honey, He loves you and you are the perfect YOU. :] God also allows free will which accounts for the corruption of His Word and Ideals. He loves you and that's His Truth.

  61. 61

We're missing the real point here: if more students worried about studying instead of worrying about making out in the hallways perhaps they would learn things. Basic things such as spelling. Look at the posts here - *intimate, *I, *he's, *disgusting, *their, *intimate, *supposed, *surveillance, etc - all spelled incorrectly. How do you expect anyone to take your opinions seriously when you can't express them? Stay in school.

  62. 62

Wow. That's fucking horrible. People are so stupid especially in states like Texas where it is run by homophobes and who's redneck agenda and ideals outcast those who dare to diverge from any of their ways of thinking. Hopefully he will be able to get justice and regain his position on the cheerleading team. Cause God knows that a cheerleading team with a boy always does better. The team at my high school got all the way to championships the only year they had a male on the team. And if anything they should cherish him and be grateful he had the balls to join the team. Cause God only knows how much he gets chastised for that alone, and now this? Ungrateful fucks. They NEED him.

  63. 63

It's Texas. Them's the breaks. Honestly, while discrimination is clearly frowned upon, I actually admire them as a whole for their constant stream of unique identity. In a world, nay, in a country of political correction and basic pussification, states like Texas make me smile because they still happily maintain their stance and disposition, one they've held high for hundreds of years. With the all the whining and complaining that Americans shit out these days, with all the liberal cry-babies and thoughtless sheep roaming our formerly majestic country, we'll soon be mourning the eradication of our culture. The PC mindset of people like you, Perez, are killing the grounds I walk upon. I applaud Texas for sticking to their guns.

  64. 64

Texas is such an embarrassment to our country. If we listened to the south all these years we would still have segregation & slavery.

  65. 65

being that I attend AHS and know the way our administration is, if it had been a boy and girl caught kissing, the situation would have been handled way different.

  66. 66

Re: pandeee – LOVE is LOVE and should have no gender.

  67. 67

    Re: pandeee – I agree.

  68. 68

Re: xoDollFace – love is love, and should have no gender.

  69. 69

school and religion have nothing o do with each other. sounds highly illegal

  70. 70

Herman Cain is a worthless ignorant bastard, just as stupid as these idiots in Texas. He thinks that being gay is a choice. We simply cannot allow anyone to occupy the Oval Office who is going to create second class citizens in America. Those days are over! I want to ask Herman Cain one question: "Did you choose to be born black?"

  71. 71

Re: msconcierge Re: Wrenn – Wow! It's hard to believe that "homosexual activities" could leave permanent damage on a house! Thanks for your insight.

  72. 72

OK, Lincoln was President when I was in high school, BUT…..aren't PDA's discouraged @ school in general??

  73. 73

Ok now for the REAL story. This story is fabricated in so many ways it's ridiculous. The boys, one senior and one freshmen, were skipping class in the band room. They were doing much more than kissing and were caught by a fellow classmate. The student who caught them went and told a teacher who reported it to the office. They checked the security cameras to confirm and sure enough the student wasn't lying. The boy was then suspended which is the reason he was kicked off of the cheerleading squad. Any other cheerleader that would have been suspended for any other reason would have recieved the exact same penalty. It had NOTHING to do with the boy being gay.

  74. 74

Just for the record, I attended high school in Texas and graduated very recently in '08, and there was no rule against PDA. I was surprised to read all of these posts with people clutching their pearls at the thought of PDA in school and that there is usually a rule against it. Again, there was no rule at my school, and I had never even heard of there being one anywhere. The academics of my school were great, and it was a respected school, so I just wanted everyone to know that not all schools in Texas, in fact most schools in Texas, aren't the stereotypes people love to make fun of.

  75. 75

Alice06 is completely right. That is the real story. It wasn't because he was kissing. It was because he was skipping in his cheer uniform. This story is completely fabricated an out of control.

  76. 76

Re: msconcierge – did you know that TX is ranked 4 out of 10 sates with the highest LGBT population! I lived in Dallas and I know that Austin and Houston outrank Dallas with gay population, and there are a lot of gay people on Dallas! So how about you focus on being a good Christian and love thy neighbor like the Bible says! Afterall, I'm gay, a Christian and live a very happy God fulfilled life! Oh! And did I mention I'm Gay!

  77. 77

Re: joethehobo – In my high school in NY, there was a no PDA in the hallways rule! However no-one followed that rule! A kiss is just a kiss, get over it is what I say

  78. 78

    Awwww cute!
butt terrible that a school could even think of doing this!
    legal action anyone?

  79. 79

Re: Esin Emko – laughed hard at your comment

  80. 80

Horrible! I could understand if every public display of affection was band but this is just down right unfair!

  81. 81

the fact that this guys is getting kicked off is ridiculous, especially when girls are pregnant and having children, and still allowed to cheer. teen pregnancy is more of an issue than sexuality, and there should be no consequences for kissing someone, whether it is opposite or same sex

  82. 82

I hate to burst everyone's rainbow colored bubble, but here's the real facts if you care to report them. The reporter who interviewed the Alice cheerleader was duped and put on a story that turns out to be incorrect. So, here's the release to clarify what happened, or at least as much as the school district can say.

    ALICE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

    #2 Coyote Trail
    Alice, Texas 78332
    October 17, 2011

    RE: A.I.S.D. Press Statement

The Alice I.S.D. has recently reviewed the recent removal of a student from
the Alice High School Cheerleading Squad. After reviewing the Alice I.S.D.
Student Code of Conduct and the Cheer Program Handbook, the removal
will stay in effect. The student’s parents are in agreement with the
    district’s decision.
The student code of conduct and cheer handbook are designed to improve
conduct and encourage students to adhere to their responsibilities as
members of the school community. The student and parents are clearly
aware that the student was not removed from the squad for kissing
another student at school. While the student is free to discuss
certain aspects of his discipline in the media, the District cannot discuss the
specifics of this incident and must respect the privacy rights of the students
    involved in this matter.
