The Walking Dead Has Record Breaking Second Season Premiere!

Wow! Everyone loves zombies, but THIS is unheard of!

The second season of AMC's The Walking Dead premiered Sunday night with a total of 7.3 million total viewers, which broke the almost ten year record for the strongest telecast of a drama in basic cable history!

Not only that, but it's a 38% increase in total viewership over the zombie-fest's first season!

According to AMC President Charlie Collier:

"The Walking Dead is one of those rare television programs that reaches both a core genre fan as well as broad audiences simply looking for a great, character-based story. We're so proud of and greatful for the amazing team on both sides of the camera who work so hard and is so committed to making this a unique programming event. That The Walking Dead is now the most-watched drama in the history of basic cable is staggering, just like our zombies."

Ha! Oh, so PUNNY!

Congratulations on a strong start to the new year, guys! Well done!

Let's see if it holds up!

That's not a pun. Clever word play, but not a pun.

  2. 2

and yet AMC drastically cut the budget for this up-and-coming show to add more to the already bloated budget of the dying Mad Men franchise

    serious over-dramatic drama…i thought it was a lifetime movie…

This show is frickin awesome! It has the drama, love h8 relationships, survival techniques and zombies. What else could a girl want. This show has a great marketing team and producers in which they only show episodes in October when everyone is in the mood for not only Holloween but scary movies and shows. Now that is SMART if you ask me. Keep up the good work Walking Dead! I'm wondering if American Horror Story will be taking the same route? Hmmm…

I watched it. This is not the norm for me. But, this has a story to it. Can't wait to see what it is. May take a few years because this is on only a few months and then come back. LOL! Great show.

I thought it was really weak compared to the last season's opener and general feel but the ending set up a good storyline so I'll be tuning in again next week.
