Facebook Encouraging Us To Purple-fy Profile Pictures For Spirit Day!

It's Spirit Day everyone!
Thanks to Brittany McMillan, October 20 is a dedicated day of LGBT support and youth suicide awareness.
Even corporations are engaging in the awareness this year! From LAX lighting up purple to Viacom, Pepsi, American Airlines, and Delta employees wearing purple, it really seems to be catching on!
One major company, one we're all familiar with, is making it real easy to show your support online by purple-fying your profile picture!
Yep, Facebook teamed up with GLAAD to make the color change possible. By clicking here, you could purple-fy your pic in an instant!
Facebook's diversity page recently updated their status to:
On Thursday, Oct. 20, we encourage you to wear purple as a sign of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth and to speak out against bullying.
This isn't the only act of open acceptance displayed by Facebook. Earlier this year, they added civil union and domestic partnership to their list of relationship statuses.
Thanks, Mark Zuckerberg! 'preshade it!

i can't even conceive the idea you're kissing corporations ass on your blog! you were bought by them just like republican politicians! so deplorable, frustrating, but expect-able of you!
hell no thats gay lol
I hate purple. it is so not in my color wheel. bullying sucks, but we must remember that not only LGBT kids get bullied. Kids get bullied for all kind of reasons. Also not only LGBT kids commit suicide. My brother comitted suicide and he was not gay or transgender. I also have the feeling that Perez Hilton is only making it worse for the LGBT community, even the gays hate him. Mario, you should stick to your blog and quit your political tirades. I used to come and read this blog everyday and meanwhile I have found way better blogs where the authors are not kissing fake celebrities asses.
These 'awareness' things bs, they exist only to make the people participating in them feel better about themselves. Take breast cancer awareness…what is the point, exactly? What is there not to be aware of? Do you think there are people out there who are not aware that breast cancer exists, or that it can be deadly? Me turning my profile picture purple isn't going to actually help anybody, just like me wearing a pink shirt for breast cancer isn't going to actually help anybody.
