Barack Obama Announces The End Of The War In Iraq! All Troops Returning Home By January 1st, 2012!

VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!

And a man who keeps his promises! We couldn't be more proud today of this country than we are right now!

President Barack Obama has confirmed today that after nine years of American troops stationed overseas in Iraq, the war that began in the spring of 2003 will be over by January 1st, and that most U.S. troops will be "home for the holidays!"

He says in a statement:

"After nearly nine years, America's war in Iraq will be over. The coming months will be another season of homecomings. Across America, our servicemen and women will be reunited with their families … This December will be a time to reflect on all that we've been through in this war. "[He and Iraq prime minister Nouri al-Maliki are in] full agreement about how to move forward. [Our troops will exit Iraw] with their heads held high, proud of their success, and knowing that the American people stand united in our support for our troops. With our diplomats and civilian advisers in the lead, we will help Iraqis strengthen institutions that are just, representative, and accountable. We'll build new ties of trade and of commerce, culture and education that unleash the potential of the Iraqi people. We'll partner with an Iraq that contributes to regional security and peace, just as we insist that other nations respect Iraq's sovereignty. I would note that the end of war in Iraq reflects a larger transition. The tide of war is receding."

Watch his incredible, fully speech in its entirety (above)!

Such an unbelievably proud day for America and all of its people, that we're sure we will always remember!

May this ignite the shift in this country that it so desperately needs!

The time to end violence is NOW! No more innocent lives need to be lost!

God Bless the U.S.A.!

    Excellent news!

Iraqis can now choose the future they want & the US can perhaps start spending some money taking care of OUR country & OUR citizens.

  2. 2

WHAT WAR!! THERE WAS NEVER A FUCKING WAR FAT ASS!! This is were all our money went!!! Into supporting an INVISIBLE FUCKING WAR!! Bush and Cheney should go shot themselves

  3. 3

Is the government going to build thousands of prison-like homeless shelters for the returning veterans?

  4. 4

Wow, yeah that's what he says, now let's see if it actually happens..(Most likely not). He's hoping to win some points with doing this, seeing as he realizes he won't be re-elected next year…IMO

  5. 5

yes. brilliant. just tell our opponets our plan. i fail to believe that this is in the best interest of the operation. I really think his motivation here is to try and get his approval ratings back up. This order comes immediately after the Senate shoots down his trimmed down version of the Jobs Bill. The timing of this order indicates Obama is desperate. He has absolutle zero military experience. i take this news with a little apprehension. i dont think the order was for anything more than politics and approval ratings. screw the operation and if indeed that time will be the wise time to leave. its all about him.

What victory? You should seriously not talk politics at all. This is all Obama can do to try to revive his approval rating! Anyone who votes for Obama in 2012 is completely idiotic

  7. 7

We'll be back over there again in a few years anyways.

  8. 8

SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU FUCKING IDIOT!!!! This is the proudest day, an anouncement of the end of our troop involvement??? Are you serious. Your such a fucking dramatic homo, what a joke.

  9. 9

    Great News

  10. 10

$805 billion dollars was spent on this war! :o

    11

Well he had to pull them out. Who the hell else is going to "guard" the oil in Libya?

    12

Obama needs to concentrate on his fued with the Kardashians and leave the Presidential decisions to the adults.

  13. 13

Makes me wanna cry from joy, seriously.

  14. 14

ummmmmm they are already in other countries wow great pull out of Iraq doesn't change the fact that the US Army is in a shit ton of other countries. Hey Barack fuck you.

  15. 15

This is totally a political move so that he secures re-election.

  16. 16

Re: idiotsabound – #4 your name suits you.

  17. 17

Its all nothing but a campaign move now! His term of so called work has ended and all he is doing not is campaigning. He might as well just give it up he WONT be re elected.

  18. 18

This is the happiest day Mooki al-Sadr has had in years.
    -
I believe, Obama really secretly loves Bush.
First, he extends the Bush tax cuts two years and now, follows the Bush Plan, when to leave Iraq.
    -
It’s the Bush/Iraqi Status of Forces Agreement, to the letter.
That Agreement sets the very last date for US troops at Dec 31 2011.
    -
Obama merely followed Bush’s plan, again!
    -
The real failure, is not being able to write another plan, after that date.
    Iraq belongs to Iran now.
Congratulations, Iran. Your patience has been rewarded.

  19. 19

BUSH and CHENEY should be TRIED for WAR CRIMES!!!

  20. 20

Oh please, obviously a ploy for reelection.

  21. buck says – reply to this

    21

Re: kirknyc24 – please give us your take on obama's illegal wars and the targeting and murder of a US citizen as well as leaders of other nations.

  22. 22

    Re: kirknyc24
    -
Hate to break it to you, but your boy Obama now beats Bush and Cheney in starting more foreign wars and assassination of foreign leaders department.
    -
You need to come to grips with reality.
    -
Obama is a big spending hawk like and Bush. Too funny!!!!!!!!!

  23. 23

Actions speak louder then words Mr. rpesident. Would love to see the troops come home but would also like to know what you are going to do for them when they get here to their forclosed houses and no jobs? Guess you must be a bit worried about gettng re-elected so this is what you came up with huh?

  24. 24

Re: pie107 – Your ignorance on this matter is astounding…

  25. 25

    Re: kirknyc24 – For what?

  26. 26

Nice thought, but their not coming home or at least not for very long. Their going to afghanistan. He can't mention that though because it doesn't secure his votes.

  27. 27

and the people who want to take this time to trash bush. Obama is almost the same exact president as Bush, in some cases worst. Obama has not even remotely made the economy better, the economy improved in the prediction of what would happen regardless of what president was in office. It's a natural progression. He has spent actually more than bush thus far. The huge difference, is Bush stood behind the Afghanistan war and the Iraq invasion (read a book, it was never declared a war, thus can't be called one) and he did it regardless of votes. Obama is doing this purely because his approval ratings are so low, a re-election bid is laughable at this point.

While I am happy for the families of our servicemen and women who are going to have their loved ones home for Christmas, I am curious as to what the politicians think these people are going to do now that they are home. Quite a number of the service people were stop-lossed which means when they do get home they are joining the ranks of the unemployed. Also how many of these people are going to have jobs in their respective ranks and pay scale once they are no longer on foreign soil?
The other thing to think about is there were a number of people who joined right out of high school after 911 to go and support freedom or whatever slogan was used. These people have spent the last ten years doing their military job, but what are they trained for when it comes to getting a job at home?
I want these people at home, but I am afraid for them and their families considering the home they are coming home to.

  29. 29

If we are not out as he promised, will he step down ??????????????

  30. 30

This distraction is too little, too late, Barack.
    It won't help your reelection.
    -
Gallup Poll today: Obama hits a new low of 41%. Down six percentage points.
Yup, BHO is historic in every way.
    -
I don't think Obama wants to be around when the Iranians go into Iraq and the massacres start in certain tribes.
    -
This could mean he won't run for reelection, and let the new Republican POTUS clean up the blood bath on his watch.

  31. buck says – reply to this

    31

Obama is such a fraud, he tried for extentions for our troops ( and rightfully so ) but the Iraqi's denied him. The Iraqi government wants us out and our commander and chief is taking to the airwaves and crediting himself with the decision. 12 short months away America, hang in there.

  32. 32

    Re: buck
    -
"12 short months away America, hang in there."
    -
    -
buck, each morning starts with, "What mayhem did the Obama/Czar clowns do today, to kill us off?"
And every day of these 3 years, a brand new outrage. Drudge never disappoints.
    -
Hopefully, the 52% of Obama voters, will be really tired of that "Big Government Shit Sandwich" they've been sold, by their teachers and politicians, and reinforced by the media, and throw it away, in the garbage can of very bad ideas, for a very long time.
    -
    God bless America.

  33. 33

Not all troops are coming home. My friend who is in the marines is going over seas in January for his active duty. He is bsing everyone here prolly to get more votes for the next election since a lot of ppl don't care for him. We will always need military over there unfortunately.

  34. 34

    unfortunately not true

  35. 35

Ugh. Obama is such a tool. His timing is great… he announces this right before the primaries start. And when he says "bring home the troops" what he really means is transfer them to Libya and Afghanistan. Why are we still in Afghanistan now that you killed Osama, Mr. Obama? ANd why are we leaving behind a huge military base in Iraq… It's so we can control them from the inside and control their government, that is why. Obama is on to the "new" kind of war… covert CIA ops with Nato forces. This way he can tell the american people that we aren't at war… meanwhile he can assassinate political leaders when they become inconvenient to our american agenda. Obama is no better than Bush. Democrats and republicans are both corrupt war pigs. Call me when Obama decides to bring troops home from 500 bases around the world

  36. 36

I hope that you are thanking President Bush right now, as he is the one who established the end of 2011 date and announced it in Iraq in 2008. Once again, Obama's greatest achievements come when he continues Bush policies. Thank God for President Bush and people who actually LOVE our country! Now, I hope that Iraq is able to keep the terrorists out of their country without our assistance… otherwise Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood are going to take our place as "occupiers" … and just see how that's gonna work out!!

  37. 37

UM VICTORY WILL AS MY HUSBAND IS GETTING READY FOR HIS 4TH DEPLOYMENT FOR AFGAN IT DOESNT FEEL LIKE A ONE…… YES I KNOW ITS NOT IRAQ BUT SOLDIERS WILL STILL DIE AND FAMILIES STILL LOSE WITH THERE LOVED ONES

  38. @v@ says – reply to this

    38

Timely, as Obama has said he is now sending troops into Uganda now to battle LRA rebels.

  39. 39

Well makes sense he would say such things, considering it's getting closer to re-election, and he knows that he will soon be unemployed. He's such a liar, and deciever. Piece of trash really.

  40. 40

LMAO. In hell! America is never leaving. They have a play on the RUssians and Chinese (China is Iraq's largest oil purchaser). They have done this how many times? The larger war looms and Iran is not too far away. There will be a rotation of troops sending troops throughout the middle east and then doing tours at home on the streets of the United States. Its Miller time! Its re-election campaign time! Bashir Assad of Syria is on the list + Pakistan, Yemen. This guy is shameless, surfing on a cue card that tells him exactly what to do. I am waiting for Obama to fight a Chevy Chase in a Landshark costume.

  41. 41

RE: Pam's Re-Filled Silicone Breasts : Those prison-like homeless shelters you speak of are already in place (Haliburton).

  42. 42

Re: like!!!COLON!!! whatever! – oh geez, you must be a 6th grader not to know what those criminals did to Iraq…so sad.

  43. 43

Re: buck – Your Bush and Cheney were responsible for many deaths both Iraqis and US citizens (the soldiers). You are watching too much FOX News…you mind is clouded (brainwashed) from the truth.

  44. 44

Re: rebarox – Thank President Bush for the deaths of many Iraqis and US soldiers??? For spending so much money in this senseless war and left the country broke??? You either insane or just plain heartless.

  45. 45

I don't think this is the end of any war, on the contrary, I think this is only the beginning. We'll see.

  46. galt says – reply to this

    46

Great. We have a president who not only lacks experience in managing war, but has decided to totally ignore the experts in the military. Even worse, he demonstrates no common sense. He has basically told the enemy: Wait, don't fight us now because we are pulling out and he naively thins the enemy will just give up and go quietly without our troops present. So now, not only has he done something incredibly stupid, but he now risks needlessly wasting the effort, loss of limb and life of our troops. All because he still wants to play politics for the next election and try to show he is different than Bush who he lamely tries to blame all his problems on…

  47. 47

Too bad most of our troops are in Afghan now. And the rest will be sent there soon from Iraq. Not a victory at all. A ploy to get ratings up..stringing the military along for his political gain.

  48. 48

Re: kirknyc24 – It's really sad that you only like to google why the war is bad, and never look at how Iraq was before we came. If we didn't invade Iraq, Saddam would still be in power. We stopped a man from continuing to kill thousands of innocent Iraqis, the most notable, soccer players because they lost a game. Obama is taking all our troops out of Iraq and transferring them to Afghanistan, Libya, or central Africa. He's to much of a coward to say so, at least Bush, as screwed up as he was at time, had the decency to tell American families that their loved ones wouldn't be coming home regardless if it lost him some votes.

  49. 49

Its just pre-election gamesmanship. Iraq is still unstable and most of our troops will be coming home to unemployment and the Obama economy! At least they got paychecks while deployed.

  50. 50

invisible war or not, many innocent people have died of all nationalities, and I am happy to see the end of this Iraq War insanity. Obama inherited this war. He promised to end it. Done. Now we need to support the families and the vets who sacrificed so much. Dont forget about them!

  51. Fissy says – reply to this

    51

ummm, as of 2 hours ago it was confirmed to 3rd ID in HAAF and Fort Stewart that they WILL DEPLOY AS PLANNED to IRAQ next month. so much for pulling out!!! And what is the big fucking deal, that just means that they will be sent to Afghanistan instead. Ask any military member and they will tell you they would rather be in Iraq then there. This announcement means jack shit obviously!!! hmm wonder what his approval rating will be next week, then wait a year and see his approval rating, when we are still over in Iraq. jackasses

  52. 52

Um…they won't be home. I'm a military wife & my husband has been deployed twice. It's not that easy & this is all just Obama trying to win the public over since he's up for re-election next year. This is a joke & I'm not laughing. He's not very good with keeping his "promises". Last I checked, Gitmo is still up & running.

  53. 53

To anyone who wants to end the wars in the middle east and around the world… Please vote for Congressman Ron Paul in the upcoming presidential primaries. He is the only presidential candidate who will end the insanity and save our country. He is the real deal. Look him up if you don't already know about him.

And to all the military families out there… you have my heart and blessings. I think about you all everyday and pray for your safe return to your families and homeland.

  54. 54

Re: kirknyc24 – And Obama should be tried for failure to get congressional approval for both Libya and now Uganda. Sorry dumbass, but Bush had approval.

  55. 55

    Re: buck

Obama will be the president for 5 more years!! He will survive without your vote Buck.

Re: Sinlee2010 – Nice list. It's important to be able to peruse a list of accomplishments actually pulled together on paper in point form. It can't be obfuscated with partisan smoke and shell games that way. I'll bet you have an organized closet. : )

  61. 61

And your guys next battlefield will be in… Iran.

  62. 62

Right now millions out of work. 14 million without health insurance. Where are these soldiers going to be working ? This is a joke. It's a political ploy and nothing will come of it you mark my words. Something will come up and the troops will stay. They have no room for them in the work force here. What a shame. What has happened to America ?

  63. 63

Re: jessie1090 – Do you know me personally? I think not. It's funny that the majority of other people commenting on this are saying the same things I did… Who's the idiot now?

  64. 64

More Votes & 50 thousand unemployed veterans! Cant wait!!! This guy is an ass hole and happens to be the same color too!!!

  65. 65

Re: Sinlee2010 – That is funny! Now show us what he REALLY did get done!! How about ALL the money he did spend that was useless!! Bet you dont have none of those!!!!!

  66. 66

with the incredible recession in place in the states, I think that there is going to be far bigger problems with the troops after the honeymoon period is over. They will need jobs!!

  67. 67

Will see who just ARMED the terrorist with more weapons then EVER!! How much weapons are missing in Libya now?? Enough to shoot down planes and go after Israel and this will start a WAR!! Keep patting yourselves on the back because it is just starting! Obuma just armed his muslims with more weapons!!!!!!!!! Ready to pull out of Iraq and hand it over to Iran and the currancy we invested will turn to dust and this will be a total failure because Obuma wants to look like a hero for votes and NO other reason. FOOLS!!!
