Ouch! Netflix Lost 800,000 Subscribers In Its Third Quarter!

| Filed under: TV NewsFilm FlickersBusiness Blitz

netflix loses eight hundred thousand subscribers

Wait for it…wait for it….okay Netflix competitors! Go! Go! Go!

In the latest chapter of Netflix's Downward Spiral, the company has officially lost 800,000 U.S. subscribers in the third quarter! Wow.

Apparently, that's 210,000 more subscribers than Netflix had projected they'd lose. Wow X2.

The company's shares have now officially lost a massive 60% of their value since July.

We're hearing that Netflix has plans to expand and offer services in Ireland the U.K. next year, but we think they should first focus on their current subscribers and do right by them!

Lowering those prices would be a good start! Think about it!

Did U recently cancel your Netflix account? Or do U plan to stick by the company???

There are some of us who are perfectly happy with Netflix. I didn't want to pay more, so I took the least expensive plan possible.

    Still happy!

    Hang in there, Netflix!

cancelled that shit. you don't price gouge that much, that fast. have fun going under.

  3. 3

    their selection is T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E!!!

I cancelled, because the online streaming selections weren't very good at all. I had the unlimited one dvd at a time plan with online streaming. No way was I now going to pay double just to receive the dvds for what they didn't have streaming (which was a lot). And no way did I want to pay what they wanted for just an online streaming plan when they didn't have anything that I haven't already seen on their site before the price hike. So, I moved on, and I won't go back unless they expand their selection of online streaming options.

Actually, their shares dropped another 28% in after hours trading, bringing their total drop to just under 72% in the last 90 days. I'm betting the CEO won't be gettin a bonus this year.

I enjoy netflix, but then again I only stream, they are putting up more decent things so I can't complain.

This is such a bummer, Netflix was a pioneer in what they did. Both DVD's by mail and instant streaming. Unless they do something quick and i mean quick, they'll be out faster than they took out blockbuster.

I canceled.I will not support greedy bastards.

I love Netflix. I don't know what you guys are bitching about. It's cheaper than cable.

What they needed to have done is grandfather in all the already existing customers. Everyone that already had their plans should have kept the same price and any new customers could be charged the new higher prices. If you switch your plan then you should be charged the higher prices. At least that way the customers they already had would still be their customers.

How about the whole story? Even though the total number of subscribers decreased by a lot, their total revenue increased so it isn't doing nearly as bad as portrayed in this post

I used to have one dvd out at a time plus online streaming. After the price raise I changed to just streaming. The dvd selection is bad because my library has new dvds sooner than Netflix. I was going to cancel the whole thing, but I figured I would be bored without the online stuff. I am watching Breaking Bad now.

I canceled months ago and got blockbuster. So far I am happy with them, except delivery is a lot slower than Netflix. I can see blockbuster gaining back the top spot of the DVD rental world though.

    I canceled

I'm waiting for Hulu Plus to become available on the Wii, which should be by the end of the year. I'm betting Netflix will see another big drop then.

    Arrogance + underestimation = fail.

I cancelled the DVD plan and kept the streaming. However, their streaming selection sucks so I 'm not thrilled aobut it. I think thats their plan- to keep the streaming videos sucking so you will pay for the DVD plan. Sorry NETFLIX…. I would rather switch to someone else than play your games.

It's 8 f*ing dollars! If you people are complaining about $8, maybe you shouldn't be sitting watching movies on Netflix. You should be out looking for a second job. Cheapos! YOU are the greedy ones. You want all this stuff, but aren't willing to pay money for it. Honestly, I'd pay $20 a month for Netflix. Because I use it and realize how much more expensive it would be to go out and buy/rent all this. Expansion costs money. If this annoys you about them making money, why do you pay for gas, heating, food? It's all the same thing. Idiots.

    Re: alex509 – I agree!!

Look, i kept 360 streaming 4 those days that there isn't anything 2 watch on tv. I moved to Blockbuster where i can get Blu-Ray and New Releases in a timely manner, and games 4 all my consoles when ever i want & as soon as they introduced STREAMING *Blockbuster* i will be leaving Netflix 4 good. Have fun drowning into ur own greed Netflix lol.

Re: MntDew – Your response is exactly what I was going to say! I too was mad about Netflix but I kept the streaming. We've all become so jaded to realize that the selection on streaming is MASSIVE. I too started watching "Breaking Bad" and it is SO good. My library has all the new releases of movies so I order there and wait till I get them. No biggie. Libraries are FREE so try them out!!
