So sad. She was trying so hard to get better, but all it took was one bender to lead her to her end.

Last month, Amy Winehouse's family asked for a cause of death inquest from the coroner overseeing Amy's death, hoping to finally get some closure. The results of that inquest are finally being released and they paint a sad picture of how Amy left us.

It's been previously reported that Amy was working very hard to get clean in the weeks previous to her death. In the initial examination, no illegal drugs were found in her system and there were no signs of foul play. The true cause of death came from the excessive amount of vodka Amy consumed that fateful day. According to the report, 416mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, five times the legal driving limit of 80mg. Police had previously reported finding three bottles of vodka, two large and one small, on the scene.

The alcohol actually poisoned Amy, who had been sober for up to three weeks prior, and the massive amounts of alcohol to her system left her body shocked. She most likely stopped breathing, which is what sent her into a coma.

Oh Amy. You were taken from us way too soon. We wish this had turned out so much differently. We wish someone had been there to stop you that night. We really do miss you. At least, now, your parents and loved ones know the truth. Maybe now it's time to let the healing begin.

It's not shocking when alcoholics die from alcohol poisoning, it's very sad.

  2. 2

I thought the $500,000 she spent on conjuring up the 12-Step religious cult's "Higher Power" in 12-Step religious cult treatment programs was suppose to prevent this; it is a REAL "Higher Power", isn't it?

Not shocking at all. The shocking part was how her family tried to say she was sober at the time of her death.

  4. 4

Remember when Perez went on and on after her death. He said how well he knew her. Perez mentioned a billion times how everyone would be wrong that she didn't die because of any type of substance abuse. Perez pushed the seizure and substance withdrawals as the most likely cause of death.
It's humorous at best that you titled this "Shocking". Who is shocked? No one.

  5. 5

    Don't blame any 12-Step program.
    .
That's like blaming your mechanic because you intentionally ran your car off a cliff after getting it out of the shop…before the mechanic was even finished with repairs.
    .
You can't help someone that doesn't want help.
    .
You can't stop someone who really wants to kill themself.

  6. 6

How is this shocking? If you didn't think she would die from substance abuse, you are a total moron.

  7. 7

This does not surprise or shock anyone! There was a very good reason you branded her "Wino", Perez.

  8. 8

Re: smooshedbanana – Exactly what I was thinking "shocking" to him because he reported her death was not drug or alcohol related.

  9. 9

Its not shocking. It was only a matter of time. She was a ticking time bomb.

  10. 10

Well this was obvious. Such a shame. :(

  11. 11

    R.I.P. baby girl.

  12. 12

Shocking results? To who you fucking idiot. And now maybe her dad will shut the fuck up about her not drinking or doing drugs and it must of been that she was so small as to why she died..blablabla. Even though now he says it was an acculation of days drinking, which any moron knows is not possible. Here BAC was at least 3.5, which can only be done by drinking a shitload at once.

  13. 13

    Re: kappuhcheenoh – Agreed

  14. 14

& she still died from another one of her 'drugs', alcohol..NOT SHOCKING.

  15. 15

if she were a true addict, which she was, no one would have been able to stop her except herself. sad, but not shocking.

  16. 16

buaha the best part is, when she died there was tons of idiots sitting there saying not to draw conclusions. When everyone was right to begin with.

  17. 17

It's not shocking, it's just sad. When you get alcohol poisoning that bad, you don't just stop breathing and go into a coma. Like other drugs, it's pretty common to vomit while you're passed out and end up choking on it.

  18. 18

If by shocking, you mean totally predictable and expected.. then yes, her cause of death was shocking. Silly Junkie.

  19. 19

Re: NookiesWA – HAHA So true. I was almost ready to believe that crap. I thought it sounded so crazy it had to be true, but then I remembered who we were talking about.

  20. 20

Not coke, not heroin, not meth, not E, not crack…but Hooch did her in ? ! WOW .

  21. 21

she was sober prior to her death but her family cant be there 24/7. She clearly fell off the wagon and paid the biggest price of all.

RIP Amy. She looks so gorgeous in that pic! Iconic and supremely talented.

  22. 22

Sounds like suicide to me. :/

  23. 23

Her body simply gave out. Sad.

  24. 24

I (and I think most people on this site) knew she died from alcohol poisoning like 2 months ago already. There were not traces of drugs in the room, and alcohol was her other weakness. May her soul rest in peace, AMY, you graced our lives.

  25. 25

shes an idiot. didnt deserve the fame she had in the first place. idc if this is mean, she had a precious gift n she threw it away. how does one feel sorry for that. and no, this didnt shock anyyyyyone. i heard she died n im like wait, she didnt die already?

  26. 26

    So sad. RIP Amy!

  27. 27

Gawd 5 times the legal limit? You'd have to chug that bottle for like ten minutes straight…

  28. 28

    wasn't a fan, but it's still heartbreaking.

  29. 29

More than obvious she drank that vodka like water… that right there tells you that she was more than just an addict.
