madoff and wife tried to kill themselves

Ruth Madoff has been through SO much.

During a new interview with CBS Evening News, Bernie Madoff's wife Ruth admits to the world that she and her husband tried to kill themselves after the ponzi scheme was revealed.

Here's what she had to say about it:

“I don’t know whose idea it was, but we decided to kill ourselves because it was just so horrendous. We had terrible phone calls. Hate mail, just beyond anything and I said, 'I just can’t go on anymore."

And here's Ruth on their attempt to overdose on Ambien (and possibly Klonopin):

"I took what we had, he took more. That added to the depression. We took pills and woke up the next day. It was very impulsive and I am glad we woke up."

We obviously understand why they would feel helpless, but suicide is never the answer.

Such a sad situation.

if he kills himself, who gives a shit. but don't see why she had to. did she know about his ponzi scheme? if not, no one should bother her at all about it.

Sorry, no sympathy. Regardless of how involved or aware she was of her husbands actions, she lived like a queen for years and years on dirty money. So many of us are struggling financially thanks to people like her family. I can't feel pity if she is struggling too.

Suicide is too easy. I want him to rot in jail for what he's done but, from what I have heard, he's kind of a hero in jail.

  4. 4

Who takes pills to kill themselves and wakes up the next day? What did they take? Vitamins?

  5. 5

    Last week's news.

  6. 6

This is old news. From last week. Bang-up job, Mario.

First this is old news. Second, I have no sympathy for this lady. She lived high off the hog for many years. The person who was assigned security of these two while on house arrest says this is not true. Also, I like how in an effort to continue the fraud among the many persons whom her husband stole money from, she mailed off her extremely valuable jewelry to one of her kids as another way to keep from giving back the money to those it was stolen from. I do believe Bernie said he doesn't mind prison, he feels safe there. For 20 years he never felt safe. How about this then you genius, stop committing the crime and you would not have had to worry about your safety! Shame on him, and shame on Perez for feeling anything other than complete disgust with this woman!

The reaction of persons of character would be to try to pay it back, or at least work towards that, to make things right for the people they destroyed.

Perez….Get a fucking grip here. What about all the REAL victims of this guy? Yeah, they were greedy too (the whole scheme was one of those "too good to be true" scenarios), but really…..Bernie and Ruth are not victims.

Stick to reporting the fluff, hon….

  13. 13

Oh…..so you can successfully swindle 1/2 of the nation out of their life savings but you can't successfully end your life?????Sorry Bernie, But even in Kansas city I've met sevearl hardworking people who are out of everything because of you so…..next time you try to take your life….try harder…and what's with the we?????You F'ed up…so why take the wife with you?

  14. 14

That away to keep up with the news. The real media reported this last week. Who really gives a shit if this useless and destructive family kills themselves. Suicide is the answer for a lot of things. Life is really not that important.

I call bull shit to the entire situation. She knew what he was doing and she spent the money and enjoyed the money the same as he did. They DID NOT try and kill themselves and they have ex employees that can verify that. She is just as much a liar as he is. This just now comes out when her dead sons wife came out with a book last week that makes her look like a wicked witch of the east and Bernie as the monster that he is. She even took the side of her husband over her own flesh and blood, her son. What a bitch. She is the same kind of mother as Dina Lohan. Shouldn't have been blessed to have children.

  16. 16

Too bad, they didn't "TRY" hard enough!

  17. 17

Madoff's wife = lies, lies & more lies. In the interview she barely remembered what kind of pills they claim to have taken. "Ambien I think" was her answer. lol

  18. 18

    Oh poor poor vampire criminals

  19. 19

Everyone involved in derivatives gambling and saddling America's economy with $200 TRILLION in debt=inflation need to be hung next to Madoff, enough saddling hard working people with inflationary debt.

Re: KDIZZLL – $200 billion? Try $4 Quadrillion globally. This is not news that has been released to the public in any form (national media). Only through economists, brokers, traders, whistleblowers, filmmakers and the TRUTH movement, has any of this been disclosed. They cannot tell you the real debt number because we should have already collapsed. The bailouts only allow the country and the globe to move 'sideways' for 1-1/2 yrs, then we need a new bailout.

Bernie Maidoff, has hidden a great deal of what he 'stole' in Israel. There are over 150 other players who were involved in his scheme. The biggest name is Banco Santander. Banco Santander is not a central bank, but is privately owned by the 'Alpha-Group', which is owned by Jacob Rothschild.
