ANOTHER X Factor Contestant Has A History In The Music Biz! Platinum-Seller!

| Filed under: Music MinuteConspiracy CornerX FactorReality TV

Stacy Francis isn't alone!

It's just come to light that X Factor contestant Leroy Bell not only worked as a songwriter for Philadelphia International Records, penning lyrics for the likes of Elton John and Gladys Knight back in the day, but also signed a full album deal in 1978 with Casey James, under the group name Bell and James!

Sound familiar? That's because they recorded three albums and produced several hit singles, including Livin' It Up (Friday Night), which hit #7 on the U.S. Billboard Black singles, #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1979, and sold over one million copies!

Listen to the track (above)!

Again, we have to ask: WHO is trying to cover this up? The contestants or the X Factor producers?

Either way, doesn't seem fair to the others, does it? Thoughts??

    And the witch hunt continues…
    *
Mario, just quit it already - it's not like the show is looking for people right off the streets. I seriously doubt someone having mild success over 30 years ago is that much of a threat or advantage over others today.

  2. 2

Bell never denied what he did in the biz when he came on x factor. stacy is the one who made it seem like she was down and out. bell acknowledged what he did and how he wanted to make things happen before he got too old. stacy is just ghetto and a liar. i cant wait til she goes.

  3. 3

This isn't shocking because we have always known that he had some type of career/success before. LeRoy never made it seem otherwise, so at least he is proud of it that he doesn't have to pretend that wasn't him. Unlike someone else who thinks they need to hide their past success to win votes with a fake life story (hint: STACY).

  4. 4

So what PEREZ!!!! These are struggling singers trying to make it big.
You are destroying lives and are a BULLY! You are a hypocrite and not
right to publish a book about bullies being one yourself!!!!!!
Stop ruining people's chances of fame and fortune to make a buck.

The show will not voluntarily talk about their past successes to make it look like they discovered them. Simon has spoken about people who mock the show as a glorified karaoke contest, he obviously wants to prove them wrong, by showing some really good singers and making it look like they were discoveed by Xfactor.

Still at least the contestants don't hide it on purpose and will be honest about it if asked. Except for Stacy. She is desperate for stardom she will do anything for it. Even lie when she has already been caught out!

Do you think that Stacy's line "SIMON DISCOVERED ME" was implanted, or is she just sucking up to Simon? Because Simon didn't discover her. (She already has had a recording contract) But within the show all the judges put her through on day 1, and Nicole is her mentor who kept her. But she keeps saying "SIMON DISCOVERED ME".

Or is she hinting that Simon sought her out, and asked her to audition for the show to boost ratings and pretending that she is a newbie who he discovered. HMMM is this what people meant when they called her a plant.

Stacy still full of it and she wants people to believe "SIMON DISCOVERED ME". What does that mean exactly? I think she is trying to suck up to Simon big time. Nicole is her mentor, and the whole of XFACTOR are the ones who put her through. But this "Simon discovered me", sounds really off to me.

Poplyfe did the same on America's Got Talent.

I think your perspective I usually agree with. But I've been following your witchhunt of Stacy and now this. IT'S NOT THAT IMPORTANT. The point of the show is to find the next natinonal star. None of them are currently stars regardless of past success. Hell, throw MC Hammer on the show and give him a shot. I don't care, let's just find the next new BIG thing. You're missing the point here Perez

Even the 7 year-old contestants on these "SINGING" shows have DECADES of professional training & experience. IT'S TV everything is to get you to BUY BUY BUY!

  10. 10

The dudes 60, is it really that surprising?

  11. 11

That's the 60 year old guy that strikingly younger for his age?

  12. 12

    I don't think anyone really cares…
Wouldn't it be nice to have just a fraction of what famous people do?? Taking online paid surveys can help you get there! I earned an extra $200 last week just answering some questions! Try it out!!

  13. 13

All that info and more is on Leroys website! The reason I like x factor is because it gives the olders a second chance. Will people vote for an artist who can write their own songs too. Honestly, he wrote songs for Elton John!?? I hope Leroy goes far…that would be a great story.

  14. 14

PEREZ!! I don't know if you are retarded or just stupid. If they are 40/50/60 years old - WHY WOULDN'T THEY HAVE WORKED AT SOME POINT IN THEIR LIVES??? Do you think they woke up at 50 years old and were like "Oh my god…i can sing! I have to go audition for the xfactor" … Such a joke you are for making any of this news.

  15. 15

Okay…"livin it up(friday night)" is the shit!! Apparently it was sampled by Notorious B.I.G. And J.Lo too…he also played drums briefly for Etta James in the eighties. He IS just the coolest!

  16. 16

Trust me, X Factor did a FULL BACKGROUND CHECK on each and every one of the contestants before letting them on the show and clearly they did not have a problem with his past successes. It's all out there. LeRoy says it all in plain sight on his website and on blogs. It's no secret. On leroybell.net there is a bio page that outlines his entire career. WHO CARES! Furthermore, this is a PERFORMANCE contest not a SONGWRITING contest. The only criteria is that they not have a CURRENT record deal. If the criteria were that every contestant have absolutely ZERO history in the music biz, you would have the gong show. Great songwriting does not a good performer make. I LOVE LeRoy and I hope he WINS!! This guy has paid his dues bigtime. LeROY is awesome. GO LeROY!! Everyone don't forget to vote tonight. Just google X Factor voting instructions and there is a list of different ways to vote.

  17. 17

Re: muchsaliva – I agree with you. Look, for all intents and purposes, Simon DID discover these people. X Factor IS "making" them. They may have had some success here and there, but NONE OF THEM were at the level or anywhere close to it, that Simon and his show X Factor, are putting them at now. There are millions of musicians and singers out there, some make a decent living, most don't. Some are kind of successful, but the difference between that level and where a 20 million viewer show puts them is astronomical. This show and shows like it put people on the map and X Factor takes credit for that and well they should. They can't take credit for the person's talent, but shooting them to superstardom overnight, yeah, Simon and his show rightly deserve credit for that. Hey, it's TV, every contestant has a story and the viewers want to hear it and the producers of course perpetuate it to make the show interesting. There is nothing wrong with it. It's TV.

  18. 18

Not a big deal. Isn't that song like 30 years old??? Dang, a lot of music history and acts has passed since then. Good luck to the man. If he can make it as 60 year old in the music business, that's a story! More power to him.

  19. 19

Kudos to you Perez for validating paydirt's comment. The point is; LeRoy put everything out in the open and is hiding nothing, not looking for sympathy, but letting his talent speak for him. He doesn't have a controversial past, just a hard working past. If stacy hadn't lied about her past and tried to spin doctor it, she would be in a lot more peoples graces. Thanks Perez for seeing the difference.

  20. 20

PEREZ is DESPERATE for celeb news to keep his job. Of course these people have worked before! But now that you started a smear campaign, these poor people have to deal
with more drama and stress all because you are looking to knock someone down and create "news". READ YOUR BULLYING BOOK!

  21. 21

I love how you just keep bullying people, over and over and over. There are MANY people who have made records, had deals, work in the entertainment field. That doesn't mean they should not get another chance to really make it via something like this. You lie all the time, I would imagine that's why it bothers you so very much.

Where does it say the contestant has to be an amateur? It's about having the *X-Factor*,
not being 'fair' like in grade school where they only do that to give each child equal exposure so abilities can develop. Let the cream rise to the top. May the best artist win.

  23. 23

I love this song!…….. you have a great voice and I wish you all the best as you work to regain your career :-)

  24. 24

Do you have something against X Factor or just too much time on your hands?!?
Can't be the X Factor cause that's where your favorite talent-less girl comes from.
Maybe you're just incredibly stupid, because the rules do not allow contestants to have a recording contract at the TIME OF THE SHOW, not ever. Lots of people who go on these types of shows are struggling artists, the producers choose to hide this to get more sympathy votes from viewers.
As such a celebrity connoisseur, you should know all the ins and outs of these types of shows. Really!
But I just think you're also full of hate and a bit bored. Blah.

  25. 25

Well, we know LeRoy isn't trying to cover this one up because he talks about his albums on his website (unlike Stacy Francis!!!). It makes the show more fun when you have a seasoned pro and his story is more interesting when it's real and honest… why did he not get his big break? The music industry is hard! So it will be very neat to watch him go from being great to spectacular on the show.
