As Regis Philbin is saying so long, farewell to his longtime running daytime talk show, there is vacant spot next to Kelly Ripa that needs filling. Lots of names are being thrown around, but one we keep hearing about is Bravo's Andy Cohen.
Andy's made quite a name of himself, bringing the phenomenon of The Real Housewives franchise to new heights and even landing his own talk show about all the shows he's got on the network. He's got such a strong, likable presence that the producers over at Live! thought he would be the perfect fit for Rege's spot.
Then the tables turned…
The Hollywood Reporter is saying that producers offered Andy the job upfront, which he decline, but then revisited after actually hosting the show with Kelly. That's when the producers actually rescinded their offer, after seeing the "lackluster" ratings he brought in. What's worse is that, according to the mag, losing the Regis gig also lost Andy face time on The Today Show, where he'd usually filled in for Kathie Lee Gifford (weird coincidence!)
That really sucks for poor Andy. He really would have made a great co-host.
Then again, his plate really is very full. Perhaps this all worked out for the best.
Would U have liked to have seen Andy co-host Live! with Kelly?
