Fox Admits That X Factor Contestants Lip Sync After Leroy Bell Gets Caught In The Act!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooTV NewsMusic MinuteOops!Sad SadPerezTVX Factor

But don't worry, it's just during group ensemble performances! Ugh.

Check out the video (above) of X Factor contestant Leroy Bell caught in the act of lip syncing last night.

Following the incident, show representatives from Fox had the following to say:

"All survival songs are performed live, with just a backing track. For the group ensemble performance, the vocals are pre-recorded to allow acts to concentrate on preparing for their own live competitive performances on Wednesdays — this is also no different to what other competition shows do for ensemble performances."

Sorry, but we're not NEARLY as interested in the choreography as we are in the vocals. Whether or not other shows do the same thing, this definitely takes a lot of the magic away.

Was this actually a surprise? The UK X Factor also has the lip synced group performances.

Derrr Perez! This has been the established format of the show in every country for the past few years now. The opening group performance is always mimed. The solo performances are live. I thought you were clued-up on pop-culture!?!

Whoa - fans of these types of shows should be in an UPROAR. A singing cometition where segments are prerecorded? I don't watch these tyrpes of shows, but are they judged by the pannel afterwards? And even if they aren't - don't viewers call in and vote on their faves? What if someone really liked the ensamble performance and based their vote on that!?! Mario, this is really a big deal and THIS is something you should be doing 7 or 8 stories on a day - not making a tiny little story already on page 2. This story alone should bring down the whole singing talent show genre - yes, it is that big of a deal.

There's something shady about X factor singers and their pitch perfect vocals. I don't know if they're lip syncing or if they're vocals are going through a mixer board. Compared to Idol where we know that on performance night the contestants are signing live into the mike the X singers seem to be singing along to something and not doing it quite live. I notice on several occassions a bad vocal escaped and when I say bad I mean awful but it was corrected in a nano second and it made my brain snap with a say what. Something is a not right with X factor vocals. To perfect. To good.

Nothing new, they do it on American Idol too, it's a mockery.
