Johnny Depp Says Au Revoir To France! Moved Back To America!

Johnny Depp France

It was a nice stay for Johnny Depp in the romantic cities of France, but he, girlfriend Vanessa Paradis and their children are back in the States!

The actor decided the move was his best choice when French officials asked him to become a permanent resident. Fearful of owing income taxes to both countries, Johnny said au revoir!

Spending most of his time back and forth anyways, he realized the French government "just wanted money," so he definitely wasn't ready to "give up [his] American citizenship."

Great to have you back, Johnny!! Don't forget, there's always that island you own if you ever tire of your homeland again.

nice to see a celebrity that cares about money even though he's probably making more than most of the Hollywood. I've met his wife, Vanessa, couple years ago in Cannes and she is gorgeous! such a natural beauty, no makeup needed. He's lucky…

He's leaving b/c Europe, the EU and the EURO are about to collapse. If you have marshall law declared in the USA, it could be hard for him to go back and forth.

Here is the truth. He has already stayed in the USA on and off. He doesnt have to really change anything or sale the home in France he just said he cant stay more the 183 days in France without paying taxes in two countries. He can always stay in England he has had a really good time there and it is always an option. He doesnt want to give up his rights here in the USA and I mean who would really. I am no fan of him and I really dont care about his rep but at least get the facts straight. I am not into propaganda. Facts just the facts man.

sxy is quite right. As long as he doesn't spend more than 183 days in France, he won't have to pay full taxes - just the local taxes. If he had to pay taxes in both countries, it is estimated that he'd have to pay out approximately 88 - 90% of his income, and that's not acceptable for anyone. I haven't heard that he's selling his French properties, so I think he'll just continue to live there for part of the year. And sxy is right about something else - Johnny will always be welcome in England; we view him as one of us, anyway.!

Re: HumiliatedGrape – Many people beshes him for "leaving France" because of the tax issues-which isn't true, he's not "leaving France", he's just not staying there more than 183 days. People don't understand that he gotta a huge tax payment if he'll stay there more than 183 days. If someone is rich, it doesn't mean he don't care about money. I guess some people just don't get it…

Re: caravaggio the terrible – Both countries really do have their tax hands out. It can get very complicated and expensive.

  14. 14

@ iGotNoIdea: You're right - a lot of people don't get it. They think because he makes a lot of money that it shouldn't matter if he has to pay hefty taxes in two countries. But why should he have to pay out nearly all of his earnings just because he's wealthy?!! He does a lot for charity, and he is very generous towards his family and friends. Somehow, though, it's never enough for some people - they still want to bash him. I think it's a case of the old green eyed monster…

  15. 15

Re: HumiliatedGrape – Sadly, you're right. People don't like hearing of someone wealthy that actually care about his money and don't wanna waste all of it. Nobody would want to pay nearly 90% of their earnings, right? but when it comes to someone who's well-known…

Re: love2hateperezite – I'm French and I have no idea about what it can mean .. :)

Re: HumiliatedGrape – You are right ..I dont know why the media wants to bash him all the time ,now they are saying that Johnny said the americans are not intelligent and is not truth because I saw the interview and he didn't say that but the media said he did it and the people belive them..I dont know and there persons like @sxy that always is saying bad things of him ,well at last here she was not so bad.
