An associate of Heavy D's and law enforcement are shedding some more light on what exactly happened to Heavy D yesterday when the rapper suddenly passed away.

According to the cops, Heavy D was perfectly fine all morning, but when he returned to his place from shopping, he started having trouble breathing while climbing some stairs. Adam Mills, a designer and Heavy D's neighbor in the building, found him gasping for air and leaning against a railing on the walkway. He immediately called 911 and cradled Heavy D in his lap while they waited for paramedics. Clearly in distress but still conscious, Heavy D just kept saying, "I can't breathe, I can't breathe." After that, he was rushed to the hospital and passed away an hour later.

Some people in the hospital are claiming that he had a heart attack, but one associate of Heavy D's told the press that the rapper actually suffered from pneumonia. Whatever the reason, its just so sad that someone that young, with so much left in him, would die so suddenly. It still makes us very sad.

Pneumona is bad. I've never had it (well, not a bad case), but my teenage son did and, wow, it just took him out for about a week.

Re: uptowngirl96 – he was almost 350lbs so YES he was overweight! No question it played a part in his death.

Re: lady_gapoo – sadly …death doesn't cae if you're fat or skinny…comment not funny…at the end of the day a very creative person has passed away…fat or not.just a little for thought.

I have never been a big fan of Reap music, I liked Will Smoith, and I liked one of the first and only songs that Heavy D put out, I saw it on one of the music stations when they actually played music videos. This man seemed like a very likeable and I thought the words in the only video were funny, and the man could move. I am 47 years old, and niot as big as Heavy D was then, but I doubt I coulld have moved that much and lip sync a song to make a video. I am white, and one of my favorite comedians Chris Brown was doing a HBO special, and he said the reason most white people do not listen to rap because it is not for us. There was no hate or putting anyone down, but I feel that what he said was true back when he said it. I do not like what is called Ganster Rap, but I do know I liked Havy D, and I was sorry to hear that he passed away so young. I wish I had seen more of his videos. My thoughts and Prayers go out to his family and friends.
    May He Rest In Peace.

Please do not take my mispelling of some of the words in my comment as being ignorant/ I have very bad eyesight. I just wanted to pay my respects to a guy I thought was talented and just a good man/
