Robin Williams Talks Oscars…But Says He Won't Host

robin williams will not host the oscars

Looks like former Oscars host Robin Williams will NOT be taking over hosting duties for this year's show.

During a VERY recent interview, Robin opened up about Eddie Murphy stepping down from the show…and announced that doesn't want to replace him:

"…That's a tough gig. I was so looking forward for him to do it. I think he would have just been amazing — especially if they let him be characters. He could have made a movie. If he did a movie like what Billy [Crystal] did doing multiple characters, he'd be amazing."

"…Years ago I co-hosted with Alan Alda and Jane Fonda and I pretty much saw my career flash before me, before I started. So, it was like, 'No…' It's a tough gig. It's a weird night, man. It's pretty thankless in terms of if you do great, if they say that you're a little edgy, they say, 'He's cool.' If you're not, they're going to go, 'He's timid.' And I've had friends do it and really do great at it, but it's a really tough gig. You have to start now for a show that's, I think, in January. Right?"

We noticed you DID mention Billy Crystal, Robin! Perhaps he's the right guy for the job, especially since he's definitely shown interest…

What do U think? Would Billy Crystal be a good host? Or should Robin Williams get over it and take the job???

Bring back Billy Crystal! He's beloved by everyone and does a great job at hosting the Oscars. Sadly, the Academy seems to have a boner for a younger host just so they can bring in the young crowd. Kids will watch it anyway and they would be wise to bring in an old pro.

He has not done one good thing since I was a kid and saw Ms. Doubtfire. Time for him to find another career.

Do be completely honest, robin Williams was funny in the 80's - mid 90's, but his style of comedy (ADD/On Speed) is old and mostly sad these days. Let's not try to revive what's been dead for a decade. Please.
