Victory!

We are THRILLED to announce that openly gay democrat Adam Ebbin, having served in the Virgina House of Delegates since 2004, has become the state's first out and homosexual gay senator, beating Republican challenger Timothy McGhee yesterday by a margin of 64% to 35%!

He says in a statement:

“I am honored by the trust the voters have showed in me. During the campaign, I listened to the voters’ concerns and will work on behalf of the values we all share: improving our public schools, expanding our transit system and cleaning up Virginia’s environment. I will make sure their voices are heard.”

And not only will be using his new position to push LGBT supportive bills and block anti-gay measures, but he has also listed his top priorities as pushing legislation to ban job discrimination against state government employees!

Incredible!

Such a proud day for Virginia, and the US government alike!

Congratulations, Sir! Make us proud!

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!

Wow, Virginia, one of the MOST intolerant states in the USA!

He wasnt elected to the US senate - just the state senate. The win is no surprise. He's a longtime Dem party insider from suburban DC and his opponent was a young guy with no prior political experience. The most shocking thing about the election was that a Repub ran - the 49th district has always been a lock for whomever wins the Dem primaries.

I don't give a fuck that he's gay. And you shouldn't either - it doesn't fucking matter. And reporting things like this is just as bad for the gay movement as the hate bigots spit into the world as well. SHUT THE FUCK UP
    AND STOP BLOGGING

Re: ElleE11 – First of all, I enjoy this blogging, if you don't please stop visiting. Secondly, it is important to know this man is openly gay. He is a public figure doing a public service. Knowing that he is gay give an example to young gay youth and supporters that there is a professional respectable life they can follow rather then the standard way gays are often portrayed. I applaud both this man and this posting.
