Eddie Murphy is a has-been. When he was on top, he was an arrogant ass. Eddie who? Billy Crystal is a class act.

YES! Love when Billy hosts! He is the best and hysterical! How about a Soap bit for old time sakes?

    ~yawn~
    What year is this???
    .
Goodie. I don't have to waste my time or life on the Oscars this year.
Upcoming movies don't look too good anyway.

PS, congrats on breaking a story in a timely (not three days later) manner and no typos! Good job!

I don't watch the Oscars often because it makes me nauseous to see people who are way overpaid to pretend for a living pat each other on their backs. But I love Billy Crystal, and because he's hosting, I might give it a look.

  7. 7

    What a buttload of nepotism.
He hasn't been relevant since last century.
    GER-VAIS! GER-VAIS!

  8. 8

Good. He'll do a great job hosting. I'm starting to look forward to the show!

  9. 9

That's stepping back in time, and not in a good way
for anyone that does watch it ( I wont ) just think how really funny it could have been if Ricky Gervais was doing it

Billy Crystal. What a bore. Eddie Murphy. What is this? The 80s revisited? Been there. Done that. comes to mind. The lack of creativity and the apparently small talent pool is stunning in American entertainment lately. But then, with the adoration of the no-talents such as Ashton Kutcher and Kim Kardashian, what is anyone expecting? Where is the contemporary talent which can handle a simple emcee job? The younger talent mumbles and fumbles through teleprompters. Or they can't tell a joke. Or they're so busy trying to pretend that they look vaguely like Grace Kelly that they're barely plugged in. So we get another round of "remakes" which this hosting gig has become. Its like an episode of "The Love Boat" to see who these awards shows pull out to host.

And I will actually be looking forward to watching the show, and not just watching it out of habit and to see if anything crazy happens.

Re: Adorable Kevy – I'm excited about Billy, think he will do better than most. It's unfortunate we don't have anyone w talent now a days that we have to pull from the 80's. We tried a younger generation, and look at what happened last year.

Billy's good but I would rather have seen Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon host. After the last interview Justin just did on Fallons show a couple weeks ago I never laughed so much through the whole thing. They would of been a hoot.

  14. 14

    yayy!!!!!!

  15. 15

    soooo excited!

  16. 16

Billy, there's still time to get a facelift before the Oscars!!!!!!!!!!!! Just sayin……

  17. 17

Re: Mimi the Magnificent - Don't get me wrong. I'm not "anti" Billy Crystal. I mean, unlike a dingo, he never ate my baby or anything like that. Its just that its become monotonous to see the same "go to" people (and movie titles and projects) whenever the industry doesn't know what else to do (due to some profound lack of creativity or confidence in pushing the envelope). I agree Anne Hathaway and James Franco didn't win the day. But part of the blame for that was that producers didn't go with their strengths. They didn't assure that their hosts looked great hosting. In the Golden Age of Oscar hosting, no one asked Bob Hope or Johnny Carson to act as though they were in a clown car for four hours popping out in ridiculous fashion and basically humiliating themselves before the world. Maybe the TRICK is for Oscars producers to return to what it meant to HOST the Oscars and no force people into become one-man Ed Sullivan Shows.

anyone is better than eddie murphy. murphy is one of the most arrogant assholes to inhabit the earth…let him die already…

  22. 22

He will be great, remember the dismal Oscar telecast last year, when they brought out Billy for a short time he got a standing ovation and nailed a few good jokes. Will definitely be watching.

  23. 23

can Ratnor be fired from everything - and Eddie, poor decision, BILLY CRYSTAL IS THE CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONAL!!! hey the guy stepped in, he's done it before and did a good job I'm not an Oscar lover but he's proven to be a showman -

  24. 24

Love Billy Crystal, he is rea!. The Award shows had some assholes host who are not only rude, obnoxious and unfunny, they made me not want to watch the shows. Being sarcastic is not funny nor anything. Billy is entertaining and I would watch the show. I hate when they also have actors or actresses hand out awars, what the heck is that? Have some nobody's in movies be in the spot light for crying out loud. Now that will be refreshing.

  25. 25

i was just saying that yesterday
thank god!! the oscars are saved now team him up with steve martin then itll be fab fab fab

  26. 26

YES!!!!!! FINALLY SOMEONE WITH TALENT!!!!!! WITH REAL TALENT!!!!

  27. 27

funny but hard to look at..

  28. 28

Thanks God, Billy Crystal is hosting the Oscar. I definitely will watch the show. I already planned not to watch if Eddie Murphy is hosting the Oscar.
