Give Harry Potter An Oscar, Damn It!

They want it. They need it. They deserve it? That's up to the Academy to decide.

Warner Bros. is gearing up the campaign to get the final film of the saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part Two, nominated for some Oscars.

The studio is kicking things off by launching this "For You Consideration" trailer for, well, consideration. They are looking for everything from Best Picture to Best Actor to Best Use Of A Wand! (They'll probably win that last one…)

Ch-ch-check it out! (above)

If nothing else, Alan Rickman deserves an Oscar for his portrayal of Snape, not just for this film, but the entire series. Yes, it is time for an Oscar for Harry Potter.

Re: Queen mab – agree!!! he's such a good actor you'll never see twilight nominated for an oscar! lol

the academy are a bunch of out of touch old people. im surprised any one even watches award shows any more, just a bunch of rich people patting each other on the back. who really cares.

The Academy is made up of people invited to be on the academy including people as young as Dakota Fanning. It is NOT made up of just "old" people and not made up of just people who have won before.

According to the Oscars website, you've got to be among the "most exceptionally qualified names" of those who have "achieved distinction in the arts and sciences of motion pictures." The Academy extends membership to every aspect of the industry, not just the "talent:" Writers, directors, cinematographers, costume designers, composers and even studio executives and publicists receive membership in their own branch. You can only vote for the "specialty" you practice within, but everyone can vote for best picture.

For the simple fact that these films remained high quality, as true to the books as possible, and maintained the majority of their brilliant cast until the very end all while stretching and molding the talent of their three young leads, the franchise deserves some recognition from the Academy. I am definitely pulling for them.

    makes me wanna cry :(

Just because this is the final movie in the Harry Potter series doesn't mean its oscar worthy. Thats the troube today, just give an award or money even if the award isnt deserving.

Re: cp0980 – "As true to the books as possible"… Have you ever read the books? They deviated so much.

Unfortunately the Academy rarely recognizes box office hits and anything other than Dramatic entries. Sci-fi/Fantasy takes a big back seat but don't they realize it's much harder to act in fictional spaces? I hope they see the amount of great acting in this film (ALAN RICKMAN!!). Hopefully they look at it like Lord of the Rings, and give them some accolades in their final film as they did with that one.

You gotta be kidding me? Except from the first one, this series of films are some of the worst films I've ever seen, and I really mean that. I only saw them because it was Harry Potter, not because they were good. The the next movie was worse than the previous one and so it went ’til the series was over. And the only people I know of that disagree with me are hardcore Potter fans. And I mean religiously hardcore.

Re: Heisenburg – They have been nominated and won oscars before for other movies

deathly hallows part 2 definitely deserves it. that movie was impeccable. but i doubt they'll get it just because it's such a huge blockbuster.

Re: Everything popular is wrong. – LOL this statement is so untrue. I was not a hardcore potterhead by any stretch of the imagination; I barely knew anything and walked out of DH2 enthralled. When will people learn that sweeping statements are rarely true?

Give Harry an oscar. So many bad movies that are uncreatively forgetful seem to be chosen but the movies that will be around get overlooked (Snubbed).
Harry Potter series has shown that it is the best and now it is time for the screen actors guild to show they are too.

Hell yeah.I totally want Harry Potter to win an Oscar.because those movies are awesome.and I grew up reading the books and watching the movies.and now that the movies are overwith,Harry Potter will still go down in history.and Potterheads, including myself, are still going to remember these incredible movies 10 or 20 years from now.
