Oh No! Margaret Thatcher's Friends Are NOT Pleased With Meryl Streep's Iron Lady Performance!

Don't ruin this for us, Team Thatcher!

While Meryl Streep may already be getting Oscar buzz for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady (above), it appears that not everyone is pleased with this film.

Here's what Thatcher's former key PR adviser Lord Tim Bell had to say about it:

"I can't be bothered to sensationalize this rubbish. I can't see the point of this film."

"Its only value is to make some money for Meryl Streep and whoever wrote it…It is a nonevent. It won't make any difference to her place in history or the fact of what she did."

More from another friend of Thatcher's:

"She has not seen it. She never watches anything about herself, in any case."

We're also hearing that friends of Thatcher's are referring to the film as an "insult." Yikes!

Definitely a bummer to hear this, but we're still looking forward to it…A LOT!

What do U think? Do U agree with Margaret Thatcher's friends…or are U still pumped for this film???

If the film contains any sort of representation of reality - then its obviously prety likely that those close to Thatcher will hate it. She was HATED by the working classes, she destroyed social housing and trade unions, ruined relations with Ireland and generally mafe the poor poorer. Any film that represents her life will HAVE to be critical of her and her team obviously doesnt like that. Do ur research perez…pointless story

The film seemingly depicts her as a martyr, yes she was the first female Prime Minister, but due to her Conservatism, the lives of the working class were destroyed. Specifically Welsh miners were targeted due to the closing of coal mines, Wales' biggest export. There is little or no admiration for Thatcher, if she is seen as a hero during the film, there will be an outcry, I personally dislike her and what her policies did to my country. Streep may be an excellent actress, but even she should have researched the true story before accepting the role and playing in such a heroic way, the plot and message of the film disgusts me, as it will many people who's lives were ruined.

Yet another misleading title… it is clear from reading the post that none of these people have seen the film. So how can they not like her performance? You people who work for Perez are morons.

Margaret Thatcher - Milk Snatcher as she is known to many Brits…how you can see Team Thatcher when you obviously have no idea of her history. the woman practically brought England to it's knees, she destroyed the working class. Margaret Thatcher was a nasty piece of work!!

Margaret Thatcher's rise to power progressed women's rights in politics immensely, its just a shame that she was such an out of touch woman who had no regard for the working class. The rule of her government changed British history forever, although more often than not for the worse. For Lord Bell to say that he doesn't see the point in this film is ridiculous. Yes its a drama piece so certain events will be sensationalised but people of my generation (18-24) know so little about this period in Britain and if by seeing this film inspires them to learn more about our country then i don't see how that can be a bad thing. I personally cant wait to see it, even if it is complete shit.

Well, as a movie I will see this. Meryl is brilliant and a fantastic actress. As history, this will probably be a bend of it, these movies always put the character in a "favorable" place. To slam Streep is non sense. I am sure she did research and studied her. She does that with all her roles. This is a trailer. NOT a movie. I will leave my opinion out until I see this. It has my attention.

How can anyone who has sat through a Meryl Streep movie ever say she is a good actress
She is terrible, she emotes, not acts
Just think back to Moma Mia, now think of Modona in that role
Think of Devil wears Prada, and Hellen Mirren in the role
Think of Thatcher, and think Vanessa Redgrave

It's true. Streep is a jew and the only thing they care about is money. You can NEVER trust a jew.

    I love this quote:

"Its only value is to make some money for Meryl Streep and whoever wrote it"

Yeah that would be the purpose of ANY movie. LOL. Can't believe His Lordship worked for Margaret Thatcher and yet hasn't figure out why movies are made. He's just pissed it wasn't made by the BBC.

BTW it's "whomever" you upper class twit.

Re: MancAngel – England was down on its knees late 70s when she took power. She made the country strong and proud again and wupped the trade unions and Argentine dictators. You clearly know shit about history.
