We have all been deceived. Worse off, we have been deceived by a celebrity who has concocted a whole fabricated story in order for the public to have a certain perception of him that will help propel his career and elevate his star status.
Have you ever heard of such a thing!!!
In a time long before a movie called Drive, an album called Justified and world without iPods, there were two young men getting their tart on The Mickey Mouse Club. Their friends include the likes of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Keri Russell, but these two friends found real companionship with each other. It's no secret that Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling were real close pals in the day, but if you talk to Ryan about those early days of fame, you'd hear a very different story than the one Justin will tell you.
Case in point, in a recent interview, Ryan told folks that he had to live on JT's couch for awhile, his parents off and gone, while he struggled to start his career. Sounds like the beginning of a Very Hipster Tale, but Justin recalls their time living together very different, and he told Jimmy Fallon so in his GQ's Men of the Year interview:
Jimmy Fallon: Dude, I was just talking to [Ryan] Gosling about that. Did Gosling really live on your couch when he was a kid?
Justin Timberlake: So he tried to make it seem like he was bohemian even back then?
Jimmy Fallon: Definitely, man. He said he was struggling and you helped him out.
Justin Timberlake: Ryan's mom had to stay back in Canada and my mom was his guardian for a year so he could come down and be on the show. But Gosling got his own bed. He didn't sleep on the couch. He said that?
Jimmy Fallon: It's a better story!
Justin Timberlake: I'm picturing a ten-year-old Gosling bumming Marlboro Reds off some bum, growing hipster facial hair…
And the truth is revealed! Ryan isn't as "hip" as the world seems to think.
But what will be the consequences of Justin's honesty? Will their lifelong bromance come to an end??? Say it ain't so!
