All good things…
This morning, the legendary talk show host Regis Philbin was given a touching send-off from the show that made him a household name. Starting off with a standing ovation, his last show was a real homage to all the great things Reg has done over the last 28 years,.
The show was filled with surprises, from the Mayor of New York handing Reg the key to the city, to the audience filled with friends and former co-hosts like Kathie Lee Gifford, Donald Trump and Tony Danza, and to a beautiful tribute from the cast of RENT, who performed a personalized version of "Seasons Of Love." They replaced the line "five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes" with the amount of Philbin's on-air minutes, "nine hundred ninety-five thousand six hundred minutes."
But the honor ended with Regis, bidding a fond farewell to his viewers who have stuck by him all this time. His speech was brief, but touching and he thanked all the people who have made his looooooong career one of the most inspiring in Hollywood.
