Third Eye Blind Releases Occupy Wall Street Anthem!

We didn't even know these guys were still around, but hey!

This is pretty cool!

90s rock band Third Eye Blind has just released a brand new single which pays tribute to the Occupy Wall Street movement, called If There Ever Was A Time, and even features an audio clip taken from when a police-thrown tear canister broke the skull of Iraq War veteran Scott Olsen during an Oakland protest!

Give it a listen (above)!

Lead singer Stephen Jenkins explains:

"I think college students are going to come to terms with the unfairness of student loans, the hallowing out of jobs from finance based capitalism, and the depletion of public wealth. When you take money out of politics, which is what Occupy Wall Street is about for me, you reverse these trends. This song is meant to encourage their participation. I hope we flood this movement with music."

Amen to that!

Check out the full lyrics of the track…AFTER THE JUMP!

if there ever was a time, it would be now is all I'm saying if there ever was a time to get on your feet and take it to the street cause you're the one who's getting played right now by the game they're playing come on meet me down at Zuccotti park
oh where are the youth, we need you now
come speak the truth, come break it down
where are the youth, we need you now
if there ever was a time, it would be now
to make the masters hear this
if there ever was a time to get downtown
and get non violent and fearless
things only get brighter when you light a spark
everywhere you go right now is Zuccotti park
and news corps says you don't have a plan
well sit down man, i'll tell you again
the plan's to stand together up to greed
and a tear gas can in a veteran's face
won't change the case
(chorus)
if there ever was a time, it would be now
for the rest of us
if there ever was a time it would be now
cause money and power are incestuous
a moment makes a movement
or it fades out in the dark
come on meet me down at Zuccotti park
and i saw a sign in the oakland spring
it said "occupy everything!"
or by and for and off won't mean a thing

I hate that occupy wall st is getting so much good press lately. The reality of the situation and living in NYC - especially financial district is a lot different than what is portrayed on TV and on Perez. For example, just walking to the subway in the financial district if you're dressed in business attire, protesters will yell vulgar things at you and a friend of mine was even spit at (in the face!). She's a social worker!!

They are nothing but losers. They are shitting on police cars, they are mastrubating in public, doing drugs, raping women, screaming at kids, ruining businesses. Yeah they are great. Obama and Pelosi are the ones who like them.

Love it. Third Eye Blind's music is as good as ever - all of their albums are great.

In San Francisco the Occupy camp is nothing but homeless people and drug attics. The city has let the public know it is a "health nuisance" complete with lice, fleas, scabies etc but the mayor has done NOTHING to shut it down. What was once a beautiful plaza to sit and eat or chat is now ltter with garbage and human feces. The protestors mostly lie around all day doing NOTHING. Why they have been allowed to stay this long is absolutely mindboggling.

Losers. The ONLY thing they should be protesting is that we are OWNED by foreigners and other countries. THEY own our banks and buildings and they make the decisions these uninformed protesters are whining about… DUH. Instead these idiots are ruining businesses, and getting in the way of honest people trying to get to work and occupying our police force over stupid shit like this.

There is a real sea change here. The protestors in the major cities are shifting things. Instead of the scandal of 1% they are shifting the emphasis to the needs of the 99%. What if the country shifts from trendy stars, to the rest of the country?
