Uh-oh! Gayle King is NOT playing around!

A few months back, she was sued by a woman known as Orly the Matchmaker, over claims that Gayle promised her an appearance on Oprah in return for her service, which normally costs $500,000, and it never panned out!

However, now the Big O's BFF has filed new documents in California federal court, requesting that the lawsuit be thrown out, because the state law asserts that oral contracts, which Orly cites as their main form of agreement, involving 'dating services' are "void and unenforceable!"

Ouch!

We guess we'll find out if a judge agrees during the hearing in January!

Until then - what do U think?? Team Gayle or Team Matchmaker??

If someone agrees to do something, that word should be binding, whether or not the service exchanged was or was not right. It sounds like Gayle wanted the service, didn't get a date, so decided to renege on her end. Not good. However, if this woman is just making stuff up, then, damn her and Go Gayle! Does Gayle really even Have the authority to promise anyone an appearance on Oprah's show? Seems kinda moot now anyway. Not like Oprah's going to say, "Oh, here, sorry, have a show on my new network."

She looks like she's pretty desperate; is she white?

  3. 3

Gayle. get it in writing if ya think your services are really worth 500gs woman

    Okra's Bull-Dyke Lezbo Lover can't even fake being straight….

bitch, she comes to an agreement, takes a persons services, then re-negs on the deal cuz it wasn't written down. classless, dishonorable, whore. gonna wonder why no one trusts her shit ass anymore

Re: pareidolia – you're right, but in order for bitches word to be binding she would have to have HONOR AND SELFRESPECT clearly she has neither. Gayle admits she made the agreement, she just doesn't give a shit. her "word" is meaningless

Why would Gayle King even need such a service? Isn't she in a circle already with plenty of access and connections to the world's most eligible people in her "league"? In fact, you would think that King could give more references and head's up on who is available and eligible to the matchmaker than vice versa.

Warning! Don't do business with Gayle. Her word is worthless.

And the BFF of a big fat 1%er Oprah gets all the breaks. Will she be sitting next to that other superior person the lovely Chelsea Clinton? OWS. The 1% sucks!!!!!

why do black women in heavy make up always look like trannies?

I'm not a huge fan of Gayle King. But even if there is an oral contract, what makes no sense to me is how exactly one can promise to deliver the services of a 3rd party or entity in that oral contract when that 3rd party very likely is unaware and certainly hasn't a contract of his or her own with any of the players involved.

Wouldn't this be less a situation of a broken oral contract than one of a version of caveat emptor" on the part of the matchmaker? Meaning that the matchmaker entered this oral agreement with some promise of a 3rd party's services - Oprah's. Services which King couldn't have quite promised or even should have laid on the table (or been asked to fulfill).

How long ago did this happen? If it happened like within the past month yeah I'd go with the matchmaker, but if this happened two years ago then why wait until now to bring up the lawsuit. If Gayle wanted to use a matchmaker and this matchmaker's services are worth half a million dollars, that person would be totally daft not to get it in writing that in exchange for the matchmaking services Gayle will get Oprah do to a show with the matchmaker. Both ways it just looks like a bad soap opera—a 50-plus year old woman desperate for a guy that turns to a matchmaking service that doesn't practice good business.

    Team Gayle!

You'd have to pay me $500,000 to go on a date with GAYle too!

  15. 15

Ugh! Why do celebrities insist on not paying for services rendered. They of all people have the money. Gayle, you are no Oprah, you made a promise you could not keep so pay up. I am so glad she and her BFF are off the air. They make me sick!

  16. 16

Gayle probably did renege, it's too bad. If the Matchmaker service didn't want to be out the 500,000 or their Oprah spot, they should've made the bitch sign something to that effect. Live and learn I guess…

Looks like Gayle has had some face work and anoter nose job.
    Still fat though.
Still hanging on Oprah for money.
