| Filed under: Film FlickersGeorge Clooney

According to new reports, George Clooney is the prized actor up for the role of Steve Jobs!

Two days after his unfortunate death, Sony nabbed the rights to Walter Isaacson's biography of the Apple genius.

And as we previously reported, the longtime friend of Steve's, Aaron Sorkin, is the "top contender" to turn the bio into a film!

We would like for both of these to be true. Thank youuu!

    clooney is sooooooooooo over-rated!

  2. 2

    Too Old!

  3. 3

Clooney isn't too old, in fact he's younger than Steve Jobs was, but I just don't see him as Jobs. Stanley Tucci however, would fit perfectly, both when it comes to looks and performance.

  4. 4

There is no way he can play the young Steve with that turkey neck of his. George looks about 10 years older than he is. Secret smoker?

I don't feel like Clooney could pull it off. I could see how he could probably look a little like Steve, but acting like him and making the audience feel like they're watching Steve is another thing. I would see Clooney the whole time, not Steve. Stanly Tucci would probably be better for that.

  6. 6

    really bad casting.

  7. 7

Keanu Reeves would be a better choice.

Re: ginadoll – now that would be enough to gag a maggot

I BET HE IS REALLY HOPING SINCE THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS WHO STEVE JOBB IS THAT THIS COULD BE HIS TICKET TO A COME BACKKKK….
But for George Clooney to have a come back HE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE HIS PERSONALITY SUCKED OUT OF HIS BODY AND REPLACED WITH SOMETHING BETTER THAN WHAT HE'S BEEN SPORTING….

    1) He's not skinny enough. 2) He's not dorky enough. 3) He's way too old (a sexy old, but old all the same). 4) Whyyyy is Steve Jobs biopic worthy again? I'm sorry he died but he's really over-rated.
I mean how thrilling is the development of the Ipod really about to be?
How about a Beatles bio-pic or Paul McCartney? I'd want to see that…

Pssh, he doesn't look anything like jobs! Stanely tucci would be better, but why not use the actor from Pirates of Silicon Valley.

  12. 12

    Isn't he a bit old?

Between Leo, Clooney, Damon and Depp, there's only four actors in H'wood. Oh, wait. The fifth spot is reserved for Flava of the Year. So you can put Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper OR Ryan Gosling into the fifth spot, depending. The only one of these I don't mind is Matt Damon. The others I can take or leave. The older ones aren't as interesting as they used to be, and the younger ones aren't interesting at all. Maybe Gosling, but not always.

Can't George Clooney even TRY to make one entertaining film? All of his choices are so politically stifling and - worst of all - unentertaining. I was at store and in the dud DVD bin were an inordinate number of titles all starring George Clooney. He and that Michelle Pfeiffer both did the same thing to their careers - sank them because they simply refused to make any movies in a genre which sent them to Hollywood.

    . . . . . . . . . . . . .
    Precisely my thought!

ABSOLUTELY FUC*ING NOT! George Clooney is fun to look at but he has NO NEAR LIKENESS to someone we respect and adore. NOT IN LOOKS, NOT IN INFLUENCE, George Clooney IS NOT IN ANY WAY MEANINGFUL the way Steve Jobs is to us. How dare you chose nothing but a playboy to resemble a man who dedicated himself to Apple and his love of life. Do you see his love with his wife? Do you see how private he is? Do you see how intentional he is? The casting director needs to be fired immediately and George Clooney needs to step the F*CK down from a place he doesn't belong. You need to find someone who isn't out there yet, someone who has that sensitivity towards privacy and Zen principle. Don't ruin a true story, don't ruin our chance to connect with someone we truly adore. Take time to cast and take the risk with the unknown, you don't need a blockbuster playboy to make this big. Keep the integrity Steve always kept for Apple. Make him proud and make us proud because he is a living being inside our hearts, don't disappoint with a surface level sh*t, think different and bring us truly creative casting solutions.

Re: RAY2RAY – You obviously have not seen the reviews for George Clooney in "The Descendants". They are all fabulous and am going to see it as soon as it opens near me -but GC as Jobs - not sure, but from what I read he totally cast off his playboy image when acting in The Descendants. Not sure if he could look wonky enough though.

  18. 18

    But CLOONEY is NOT
    quite as
    insufferably vain as
    STEVE JOBS
    MOST apparently was !!

  19. 19

    I don't see it.

    Re: Tnorris

Exactly what I was thinking! Noah Wyle nailed that part, he looked sooo much like Steve Jobs it was rather eerie. Plus, he's a good actor to boot!

  21. 21

    No! Just NO!!!

  22. 22

I agree his acting is so overrated, he is so wooden & not very expressive. I'm constantly surprised how celebrated he is, his movies I have seen are so-so. He is good looking and he has a great voice though.

  23. 23

I can't think of a more horrible choice of actor to play Steve Jobs. Clooney is a one trick pony, there's no way he could pull it off. He even knows this. He'll never do this.

  24. 24

I think that it's not relevant that Clooney doesn't look like Steve, you don't need to look like the role that you are playing but you need to play it well. He can still be a good choice if he studies Steve Jobs and is able to relate to his role.
