Pilot Survives Horrifying Helicopter Crash!

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueEtc.

This is insane! It may just be the scariest thing we've seen in a looong time.

This helicopter's tail rotor blades get caught in cables causing a horrifying crash. The thing SPLITS IN TWO!

And amazing enough, the New Zealand pilot was rescued and able to walk away practically scratch free.

Yikes! Yeesh! OMG! Wow.

Why is it flying in such close quarters to buildings/wires/cables? :/
Good thing he survived, that would have been sad and terrible.

I'll never get on a helicopter. I'd have to be on medi-vac flight, half dead and unaware.

But yeah, what @Pretty Boys said.

How is that scary? He fell like two feet.

I'm from New Zealand where this happened, the helicopter was flying low to put up a Christmas tree. Crazy no one was hurt!

that was the most boring "crash" ever.

    Wasn't that bad

That was NOTHING. He was barely off the ground.

Boring?!? YouTube has turned my generation into jaded, desensitized MORONS. I'm sure much more exciting things have happened to you, so it must not have been worth your thirty seconds to see someone not get A) crushed to death, B) ejected to a deadly fall, or C) impaled by huge helicopter blades.

You should see the t.v 3 angle from their camera, it looks way worse because there's actually a person underneath the helicopter when it crashed and he only just jumped out of the way.

This was the scariest thing I have seen happen. He was actually flung out side the aircraft before narrowly missing the chopper blade and being flung back inside the back of the helicopter. He was installing the base pieces of the giant Christmas tree that the telephone company puts up every year. This was the first time it was to be put up in the Viaduct (Habour). The video makes the area look far smaller than it actually is.
