It's Not Thanksgiving Without Punkin Chunkin!

Forget the parade! Punkin Chunkin is America's newest Thanksgiving pastime!

It's time for the Discovery Channel's 2011 Punkin Chunkin competition! For those of you who have not been introduced to this amazing "sport," you should know Chunkin is an annual competition in which people use various mechanical devices — think giant slingshot-type contraptions — to toss pumpkins as far as they can.

In other words, it's 100% classy!

Watch the promo (above) and then watch the whole show with with your family Thanksgiving night at 8 p.m., on the Discovery and Science Channel!

    Who cleans up the mess?

actually you have to be very educated for this, these machines are throwing pumpkins up to 5,545.43 feet. its not just throwing a pumpkin, there is a lot of thought and time put into it. you should research it before you say the people that do this is uneducated, we had team members that work at NASA, thats probaly more then what you're doing with your life. the state cleans it all up at the end of the weekend.

Whoo hoo…..representing my home state! Delaware! These people aren't morons, they are well educated and usually have engineering backgrounds of some sort. Odyssey of the minds for the adults. A great time.

I want to do this so bad, it looks like tons of fun.

Uneducated morons? If you had actually watched the show you would have seen that most of them were engineers including aeronautical engineers and so on. Let's see you build one of these machines.
